Add about 60% of the original number to the original number to parse it.

For example, 50 miles per hour is the approximately the equivalent of 80 kilometros per hour. (50+30=80)

I was watching the news earlier and they said there was gonna be ton of rain here (san antonio, tx) and w the pressure coming down the east coast (at sea not land) looks like it would push rain our way. Maybe I'm just too high but I was wondering if that pressure would push the hurricane to the right as well given the model shown on tv.

I looked up some models now online and noticed the pressure moving southe along the coast but don't have a long enough time frame to see how it impacts further south.

Crazy hurricane, hope people find a way to stay safe.

I am very worried for the poor people, that kind of hurricane on an third world
country is a bad mix. Just in Colima there are more than 200,000 people living on this kind of "houses" :

Specially located near the coast , surely they will be blow away. Army has been evacuating the area since yesterday , hope the people go to refugees.

My family lives in Michoacan, just slightly to to south where the hurricane will hit... They have got rain, but I know it can get worst.

I was living in Guadalajara before moving to the US, if I was still there, I will be leaving work early, getting ice bags and some canned food. It can be really awful when there are storms in the city (power outages, flooded streets, falling trees), and with a storm this strong, it's going to be ugly.

Yes, cloud tops have warmed slightly, it has probably peaked but the structure still looks very impressive. We'll know soon when recon gets there.

One thing I noticed is that the exact position it is right now, is where the waters are least hot according to satellite data. Probably that helped weakening it before hitting the land.

Hurricane Patricia is indeed a monster. It has to be the fastest intensification of any storm in history. Patricia is also approaching the theoretical limits for a hurricane.

I just hope everyone who is in the path was evacuated in time before the storm makes landfall.

Guadalajara will be fine wind wise, the mountains on the coast will break down the storm severity very quickly. There is a lot to worry about flood wise, though.
