The graphics issue mostly exists in the forum echo chamber and the general response to the gameplay shown has been very, very positive. No way this doesn't review well.I think Fallout isn't going to review as well this time around. Previews haven't been mindblowing and response to the visuals and graphics have been less than inspiring. Combat seems largely unchanged as well and that was one of the larger criticisms in the past.
Don't think it's gonna matter at all though because preorder numbers for Fallout are insanely high.
Given the choice of those three games, FO4 is def. the best choice to launch against. Still going to get crushed, though.
Of course it will both games have nothing to do with each other. Different genres, different release dates.
Well of course it is. One is on every console the other is exclusive to one platform this year. Pretty obvious. More interesting will be which sells better on xb1?
I have been playing Tomb Raider and it has convinced me to pre-order Rise of the Tomb Raider.
I have NO care whatsoever for Fallout. Never played it and probably never will. It has never appealed to me and that makes the decision to buy Rise of the Tomb Raider somewhat easier.
It's a pretty big blessing the PS4 version launches next year. Of course, if it's anywhere near Horizon, which I expect to be another long ass game in the same style as Fallout 4.. well damn.
You should probably lower that expectation right now. Guerilla Games isn't known for long ass games.
Also unrelated but he said Rare Replay greatly exceeded expectations, as did Gears, both selling out week 1...I thought that was interesting

I think it should have gone against Call of Duty, personally. I don't think those two fan bases overlap as much as Fallout and Tomb Raider's do.
It's a full-fledged RPG. They already talked about designing gameplay around dozens of hours before.
This is hyperbole but Bethesda open world games generally have a fuck ton more problems than other open world games in general.
It's weird how I'm always forgetting that both Fallout 4 and Tomb Raider are coming out this year. The latter makes sense since I don't own an XBO but the former is kinda odd. I feel like we all are sitting here going: Yep, another Fallout. Prolly be al'ight.
From the makers of Killzone: Shadow Fall too.
I felt the same way going into MGS V. The hype was kind of silent, just brewing under the surface right up until launch - when suddenly it became taboo to talk about anything else for a solid week.
This is some crazy assumption here. Audiences not similar? The audiences aren't remotely similar so I can see him being right. More casual fans would probably choose Tomb raider by name recognition of the last one That's not saying fallout is gonna do bad. But I don't see them overlapping audiences
For me, Fallout 4 is not the enemy of Rise of the Tomb Raider; Xbox exclusivity is.

Never cared one bit for Bethesda's brown ugly games. Tomb Raider is a must after the first game.
If only this wisdom was known to them. It's like they had some knowledge that wasn't public, or you know something. For me, Fallout 4 is not the enemy of Rise of the Tomb Raider; Xbox exclusivity is.

what does MS gain out of this anyway? The best i can figure is # of people who buy an XB1 and RotTR this year, which there certainly will be some, but I can't imagine enough.
If you already own an XB1 (and don't own a PS4), and you buy it, who cares? You would have bought it regardless of timing. It's a win if multi-console owners buy it on XB1, but there will be plenty of multi-console owners who end up waiting for PS4, as well as PS4-only owners who already have a lot to choose from and they can still get it next year.
And the next TR game will probably be multi-platform. I believe MS had good intentions when this deal first took off, unfortunate it seems like it will land with a thud.

Don't get why it has to be a competition. If I were interested in both I'd buy both. Money isn't an issue. I switch between multiple games at a time. Sometimes I feel like playing an RPG, sometimes a fighting, a shooter, etc.
I guess the benefit they have is that Fallout will only be depressing the sales of the Xbox One version of the game, and not the eventual PS4 or PC versions.
Sure it will sell more vs Fallout compared to the other 2 however why not just delay it and release it the same day as the PC version next year

Yup they aren't exactly competing.
Two $60 games on the same platform, on the same day are absolutely competing. The genre is irrelevant.
I don't know what the implication is. That people can't like multiple genres?
