Sony Paris Games Week Conference 2015 Thread

Solid conference, many games. Not that I cared about anything other than Street Fighter V, so not too hyped for what was announced. That said there's games for many different genres so most people should be happy.

Expected to see PS1 and PS2 classic support announcement, guess we'll need to wait more for that.

what tastes?

I seriously have no clue what tastes gamers have these days. If everything we saw at PGW conference equates to " bad " when so many genres were showcased, and showcased well, what is left? So, Star Wars is bad? Alright so there goes competitive shooters. Battleborn and Rigs were bad? There goes arena shooters. Gravity Rush and Ratchet and Clank were bad? Ok there goes 3D action adventures. Gran Turismo Sport / GT VR / DriveClub Bikes was bad? Ok there goes racers. Alienation was bad? There goes couch co-op schmups. Robinson was bad? There goes Jurassic Park VR experiences ( which tons of people asked for btw ). Horizon and Wild were bad? There goes open world games. Detroit was bad? There goes interactive cinematic experiences. Dreams was bad? There goes creation games.

I mean what tastes are you talking about? Everything?

You're making broad generalization here. Someone who plays Arma might not like COD, that doesn't mean that they don't like fps. I was disappointed personally, out of all the new announcement only Detroit interested me. I'm intrigued and will most likely love Horizon, Gravity Rush 2 and Tekken 7 but it was stuff I already saw months ago (yes there's new footage but that's not my point). I watch those conference to be surprised by new announcement and this didn't deliver for me. GT Sport is pretty important even though I have no interest in it though.

Last year's announcement (Wild, Until Dawn, Volume, Hellblade) interested me way more then what we had today.

Given it's second showing at last year's Gamescom (?), somehow I think Rime got upgraded and expanded with a budget boost, hence why we've had such a wait. It looked quite a bit bigger last time they showed it back then.
Now THIS is optimism! I like that, bravo.
Mayne they realised it breathes some team ico spirit, so it deserves some team ico time.
But please not exactly as much.

Pretty good conference. There was enough variety to scratch a bit of all itches, I'd say. Just wish they had announced at least one more WWS new game, I'm still waiting for some of those rumoured games like Syphon Filter and new horror IP. :(

I feel bad for people who felt nothing for any of those games. Must be tough to find games you are interested in.

I can understand not being hyped, but not seeing a single interesting title? That's rough.

I forgot we got a date on No Man's Sky! That's my dream game cannot wait.

I hope they will announce a few more real games for the launch of VR at the PSE ... Because we only have "experience thing" and not games ...

Well, Ratchet looks cool :D....

Here's to hoping for nostalgia pandering at PSX. Ps1&2 BC, Crash, PS All Stars successor that actually has a budget, etc.

Pretty safe conference. Showed some cool things but nothing mind-blowing imo. Could've done with less VR and GT talk, again imo. Detroit, Dreams, Matterfall, Ratchet, Horizon all looked great. I still want to know if that really was Raz from Psychonauts in the opening montage. It really looked like him, but obviously they didn't announce anything. Was really hoping for classics on PS4. Oh and Uncharted MP looked awesome!

You're completely ignoring the way they were shown. Horizon was pretty much the exact same thing as E3 and should not have had a live demo. You can think a game looks good but think the way it was shown off in the conference was bad (This applies to me with both Horizon and Ratchet).

Eh, I liked them showing some slightly different moves for how that fight can go and a whole bunch more of the attacks the mecha had with the missles and lasers, etc that they didn't show at all last time. Also, her starting point where they were walking her around the area showed a bit more of the environment before they walked back to where the E3 demo took place.

Plus it's clearly going to have atleast another E3 demo and probably PSX, and I don't know how much more I want them to spoil so maybe it's good they saved the next really new stuff for those. As for the last bit, if they didn't show gameplay, I'm sure we'd have tons of "why are they just showing a trailer, we had gameplay last time!".

I thought the Rachet trailer was gorgeous.

Wild and Detroit look great. Horizon looks great but this was the same slice as E3 and that's kinda disappointing. The PSVR push was coming and expected. NMS june 2016 was kind of a shock I was expecting it sooner. The Minecraft and Music game did nothing for me but different strokes for different folks. GTsport must have made some people happy but I'm not really into racing sims. Over all IMO conference was ok bordering on meh.

Came in not knowing PGW was thing.

Left with a No Man's Sky release date, cool demos for Dreams and Horizon, and some VR stuff to look forward to.

I'm quite pleased, what were the disappointed out there expecting?

When's the SE booth/details? Is there going to be an ATR on FFXV?

There won't be another ATR possibly until late this year to early next year, they never dismissed the fact it the game might be shown at diffirent events (VGX, PSX, etc)

Then they will be silent until the march event imo.

Now what's left for PS experience? PS1/PS2 classics I hope.

I think PS4s firmware team must be a mess. I honestly think PS1/2 classics is coming, but the fact that they couldn't get the feature ready for the 15th anniversary given their limited output is kind of telling.

Overall -- eh, I dunno. I expected more unique indie games, more left-field surprises. I was quite excited to see what Edith Finch actually plays like, and then not much delivered on that kind of quirky and unique promise.

Also, I wish we had gotten gameplay from Housemarque's game.

My thoughts on the show:
-Enjoyed the new game announcements; hearing Cryteck making a VR game is a great fit (considering Ryse was originally a FPS Kinect game; they can take the original ideas of that to work with their new project well), QD turning an older tech demo into a full game and the new indie announcements rocked.
-Release dates for a number of titles (No Mans Sky, Uncharted, Bloodborn Expansion, ect) was fantastic to see; ensures that we will BE playing the games at some point.
-Liked the new demos of Horizon and Dreams; showed more mechanics for both titles and makes me excited to try both out next year
-Uncharted 4 MP looks great and its new mechanics seem to be a ton of fun.
-Bitter about the lack of Vita announcements but I didn't expect any to begin with.
-Not interested in PS VR as they could ditch the thing if it fails (like they did with the Vita) but it could work as a make-shift TV for people who cannot get an HD TV, so it seems interesting.

Forgot this was on , some kinda cool announcements I guess. Nothing (that wasn't already announced) jumps out as a must have (yet) but solid.

I kinda hope they kept the exciting reveals for PSX

Thought Detroit looked and sounded awesome. Boring name, but super hyped for that game. Was hoping for more Kara and they delivered. Didn't expect we'd ever see it again.

Wouldn't be surprised if they are working on something based on Sorceror too with that other writer since they said Cage hired a few writers after Beyond came out.

This was just like there gamescom conferences.
Which is normally okay but could have used better pacing .

Yup.

I remain steadfast in my decision to purchase a PS4 once Wild is released, hopefully by this time next year.

I'm kind of not considering VR stuff yet as there are so many HMD's, all of them will probably cost a bunch, and it's difficult to tell which one(s) has a future.

Gran Turismo Sport was, I don't know, I'm not particularly interested in competition and racing leagues and whatnot.

Detroit could be cool. Android humanity rights emotions etc. is always an interesting theme, although it's not particularly distinct these days. The part where it's David Cage and Quantic Dream handling doing this game makes me both excited and wary. I'm at least interested in how that'll turn out. Hopefully good.

And I missed everything that came before that.

Just curious, why Wild? It's not the biggest game coming out, and I thought it looked kind of clunky personally. Just love the concept or faith in Ancel?

On the bright side, unlike with Vita (since western devs have seemingly proven they couldn't give two shits about handhelds and as such Sony did a really poor job trying to get western devs to do stuff like COD rather than lock up some more big Japanese games), I think they may possibly benefit from plenty of multiplatform titles that get made for both PSVR and Occulus. But yeah, obviously a bit early to tell what the support's going to be like for these things.

Where is Rime?

That's my main takeaway too. Where the hell is Rime?

After a dodgy opening I thought it was a good show. Wild looks awesome, it was nice to see QD's new game. I'm cautiously optimistic, i'll be devastated if we suddenly get a trailer with Kara in the army. That's where Beyond lost me.

Solid 6/10 conferrence.

Seeing Dreams and Quantic Dream game was good (I loved Heavy Rain, so I have hope for Detroit even though Beyond sucked) and Horizon still looks freaking amazing. Not seeing anymore GT Sports footage and general lack of new games was a disappointment.

The real star of the show was WILD though, holy shit that looks fun.

Man, I actually enjoyed what they showed. WILD, Horizon and Detroit looked amazing. While I dont care for racers, I thought GT Sport looked cool and I am happy for those who are excited for it.

Now that Robinson VR game... now that looks like something that would get me to buy a PSVR. When that T-Rex? is staring at you... that looks like it could get some blood pumping.
