Great amount of content, incredibly poor delivery that made me want turn off the volume for a while. Not sure what else people expect content wise from this conference.

That Street Fighter - Tekken handover was bizarre, I was really worried about the rest of the show at that point.

Bit low on new announcements which I tend to prefer over seeing games again that were already announced but not a bad conference all the same. Not really keen on the main Sony guy presenting the conference. He just seems a bit devoid of charisma and almost bored. Which I don't think helps matters.

However, some great games coming. Glad to see QD's new game announced. Surprised it was Kara after The Sorcerer demo but it seems a very interesting title to look forward to. However, not sure why they just didn't call is Kara: Become Human instead. Think that's a better name. Also, nice to see PD announce a new GT.

Wild looks amazing and I can't wait to play that. Possible the game of the conference for me. That Robinson game was very intriguing for VR but I'm not interested in buying VR on the whole. No Man's Sky continues to look great but it's still so far away. Shame Rime didn't show up. That was another disappointment to hear nothing of it still. Dreams is practically LBP 3D which if it works well and is easy to create, then it could be really something. Horizon also continues to impress and I really liked the rope trap and the possibilities of that. Uncharted 4 multiplayer looked great too.

On the whole, like I say, some great looking games coming, just a little lacking on new announcements which is maybe why they decided to wait till PGW instead of Gamescom, to have the likes of Dreams, Wild and Detroit better ready to show.

I'd give the conference a B-. More (as in 1-2 more) big announcements would have been cool and Sony's main guy needs to loosen up and gain some charisma.

Where is Rime?

One of my most anticipated games. Hopefully it's at PSX.

Reposting my stupidly hopeful theory on why we're still waiting for it:
Given it's second showing at last year's Gamescom (?), somehow I think Rime got upgraded and expanded with a budget boost, hence why we've had such a wait. Atleast to me it looked quite a bit bigger at that showing than it's unveil trailer.

Maybe Sony caught wind of it capturing some of that ICO spark with the fans.

It's weird I see people let down by the actual conference. But as a sift through the dozens of announcements on my lunch break, there is a ton of exciting content. taking the time to watch a conference really sets up expectations and makes the boring aspects seem exaggerated. I'm glad I did it this way.

Rime and Hunger are the two notable MIA games for me. Between them, Level 5's project, Sony Bend's game, Santa Monica's, and whatever the hell SuckerPunch game there's still a lot to look forward to with what's an already STACKED exclusive lineup.

Just curious, why Wild? It's not the biggest game coming out, and I thought it looked kind of clunky personally. Just love the concept or faith in Ancel?
Always the people first, who in turn create (or at least build on) interesting concepts and ideas and do cool stuff with them. Ancel hasn't made a game that I haven't appreciated and I really do like the sensibilities he and his co-workers bring.

Overall probably one of their weakest since E3 2012. Lots of small announces for already announced games. But since they have so many a year I think it's fine for one to be the "B Roll" so to speak.

Saying that, the last part was great. Dreams seems more like 3D LBP, which is great, and Horizon, WiLD, GT:S and Detroit were really cool.

So, basically, we have these to look forward to for PSX:
-Sony Bend's horror game
-Sony Santa Monica (GoW prob)
-Level 5
-Sony RPG to rival Final Fantasy
-Devil May Cry 5
-PS2 classics
-PS1 classics

Guys, is PSX set to be the best conference of the year?

God of War is a sure thing. Bend I think might be the other big announcement. Other than that I suspect those other games will probably be next year.

C -

Their two biggest reveals were meh from a presentational/marketing standpoint. Not sure who's deciding how these play out but if all it's going to be is "..wait for PSX"...might as well not show anything at all. Remember, first impressions matter. GT Sport unveil in particular... you unveil a new game in a juggernaut series like that? The fuq?

Yup. Content wise it was great. Pacing was awful.

Edit: Also, my bad, I was wrong jumping on Brandon for complaining about the GT talking lol, while I didn't mind it for the first minute or two when he started complaining about it, good god it went on forever.

Excellent show. As someone who had grounded / realistic expectations I am more than satisfied with the titles shown. Best Sony press conference of 2015 so far for me. Sure, e3 had the more spectacular announcements but this show had more games that we will be able to play soon(ish) rather than some far off date in the future.
Games of the show for me:
Gravity Rush 2
Detroit
Wild
Dreams
That minecraft like game.. whose name escapes me.

Gran turismo announcement made me happy but no concrete details other than the FIA partnership made it all a bit anti climatic

PSX needs to be something really special to top this event.

solid show with cool announcements. nothing mind blowing. bad presentation and dragged with gameplay presentations that were uninteresting to watch

GAF, I need your help. I thought they showed Raz from Psychonauts in the opening montage so I went back and looked. I don't think it's Raz anymore, but who is this? Is it someone from The Tomorrow Children?

Edit: Fixed

Alienation is Alienation, it was shown in the pre-show. MatterFall is a new game from same devs.

Oddly enough, Housemarque's post-PGW newsletter implies we've already played Alienation on our PS4s, or was there a limited beta?

Mind over matter.
After setting your PS4 on fire with Resogun and Alienation, we're pleased to announce that we're woking on a slick and action packed new title called Matterfall.

Matterfall follows an unexpected hero in a ravished sci-fi setting. Crystalline shapes that are summoned mid-air are a staple of technology in this world and you must overcome an ever expanding threat that might have already seeped too far into the core of humanity itself. Check out the trailer!

Where's the guy who kept saying this would be bigger than E3.

I believe he was talking from a First party/exclusive standpoint and I don't think he was wrong.

Still. People should stop with the hyperbole of saying "x conference will be better than E3"

That puts a false sense of excitement into people expecting megaton after megaton.

The conference was really good... until they did the Dreams demo. That was the Wonderbook moment of the presentation and it sucked the life out of everything that came after it. The pacing died, the momentum was lost, and I suddenly just felt bored by everything.

I'm sure Dreams is going to be all weird and quirky, but it's a niche's niche game. If Media Molecule and Sony can't manage to sell a cute/charming platformer like Tearaway Unfolded, how the hell do they think that this weird whatever it is game actually sell?

Media Molecule struck gold with LittleBigPlanet, but Sony owns that IP and Sumo has proven others can make a great LBP game. So what does MM bring? Dreams? I've got a bad feeling about this.
