WB offering full refund on Batman: Arkham Knight on PC till the end of the year

http://steamcommunity.com/games/208650/announcements/detail/128710596369779495

We are very sorry that many our customers continue to be unhappy with the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight. We worked hard to get the game to live up to the standard you deserve but understand that many of you are still experiencing issues.

Until the end of 2015, we will be offering a full refund on Batman: Arkham Knight PC, regardless of how long you have played the product. You can also return the Season Pass along with the main game (but not separately). For those of you that hold onto the game, we are going to continue to address the issues that we can fix and talk to you about the issues that we cannot fix.

Thank you,

Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment

EDIT BY VALVE: For users still running into playtime based refund rejections, we are looking into what is causing those. Please wait to re-submit your refund until we have this resolved. Thank you.

They really screwed over PC users it seem. Hopefully they will put more resources and effort into making it good rather than back off of doing PC games.

People won't care and will continue to buy their games. "Sorry you got burned with games like Mortal Kombat 10 and Arkham but it doesn't mater since you'll still buy our stuff anyway".

Okay seriously, this has got to be like the worst handling of a AAA release I've ever seen. A literal backdown.

They "unreleased" a game, worked on it for almost 4 months, and rereleased it in only a marginally improved state, and just straight up abandoned it.

What other game/publisher has done this? I can't think of one.

I wonder if this means WB can induce other retailers like GMG to take refunds again. I'm not one to return games but if so, I just might.

I was wise to hold back on buying it on launch and I guess even wiser to hold back on re-release. Knew they'd pull this stunt, how disappointing.

...damn... seriously?
DF thinks it's probably an engine issue that may never be fixed. Unreal 3 was never supposed to be used for open world games and previous Arkham games on PC had stuttering issues (but nowhere near as bad as AK).

Take those existing issues and then add an insane level of visual fidelity which the engine has to push out and you're going to have problems.

It's good that WB is addressing this head on. Such a shame about this whole situation though.

Probably would have been wise of them to include details of how they're going to offer refunds.. Will it only apply to people who've bought through steam? What about people who bought keys from external sellers?

I don't think they are going to do any more fixing now. Rocksteady will have to go back to their project full time and they already delayed the Catwoman DLC that was supposed to release in October.

This whole release is just a giant clusterfuck. Feel sorry for those who bought it at launch on PC and had a bad experience.

So, I guess as someone got the game through the Nvidia deal I'm kind of boned? Haven't played it yet due to all the issues, but I did jump on the 970 in part thanks to the Batman + Witcher deal.

I guess I can't be mad at Rockstar treating PC like the red headed step child now. Sure GTA4 and it's buddies weren't that good performance wise but if they continue to do quality ports like GTA5 I would be able to forgive the late ports (Still waiting on a awesome sale though).

huh? i haven't been following closely, and i'm getting serious deja vu here.. didn't the pc version have issues months and months ago and they apologized and refunded back then too?

so uhmm... still?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure there's nothing to be done for those of use that got it through that. I think it had to be a Steam purchase.

That's very interesting, but that seems a little inconsistent to me. If it really was an engine issue, why is the frame rate for the PS4 version (as far as I can tell) consistent throughout a majority of the game? If it really was an engine issue, I would assume that all platforms would have the same issues, right?

Some were able to get MGSV codes from retailers for the trouble back in July.

If you're okay with rocksteady playing the ignorance card, sure.

I'm confident in saying that other companies would just tell people to fuck off at this point, and not still offer refunds.

So fairplay to them for that.

Hmm, I had always just thought of it being UE3 yet running so badly was an indication of completely screwing things up, but these are really good points. Just a shame then that Rocksteady still used UE3 and hopefully they learned to dump it for the future (though even if they were wizards I'm guessing it'd have gone "Hey, UE4's out and seems really good! Let's just use that from now on instead.")

RAM is structured differently on consoles, AFAIK. I'm sure someone can explain it better.

Did I read that right? The issues that can't be fixed?

Why are they only telling us this now?

Why were they not transparent about this before?

WBs PC ports have been especially bad. With high voltage ruining MKX and now this. I don't understand the need for all these corner cuts. Hopefully they get their shit together in the future.

One of the worst PC ports on Steam.

It probably will, GMG seem pretty cool to me. I got my refund from them ages ago but I wouldn't be surprised if they're open for refunds again.

I don't think UE4 was available when AK started development. I was thinking about this yesterday and it probably only became available in the latter half of development, at which point it wouldn't have been worth moving engines as it would've been a hell of a lot of work.

30fps. :/ You can get a pretty much perfect 30fps in the game now on PC. Anything above is when the issues appear.

Unfortunate to see such a great franchise be brought down by another fucking asshole publisher who cares NOTHING about the integrity of the IP.

FUCK you, Warner.
