If you have your games categorized such that categories are being used as tags, this works in search in the client, I believe.

It does, but only in big picture mode. In normal library view, it just means that a game shows up in every category it's tagged in. If there's a game in both Adventure and Horror, it shows up twice if I have both categories open.

Steam version of KOTOR no longer loads any of my saves. Why? Because fuck me, that's why. I should have bought the Android version...

No hype for Dariusburst Chronicle Saviours?

Was just gonna try a little bit of the PSP version of Dariusburst again in preparation for Chronicle Saviours... 4 hours later... There's not very many shooters (or games in general for that matter) I can play in longer sessions and lose complete track of time, but Dariusburst is definitely one of them. Had almost forgot how incredibly addicting and enjoyable it is. What an incredible ending for an all-around amazing year* for shooters on Steam. Game of the year.

*Thanks Degica!

Yes. And all other games that don't share both tags/categories are not shown. It may be there twice, but other than being redundant, it shows you exactly what you want.

That's not how it works for me. If I hope two categories-- let's say Beaten and RPG-- in Beaten I'll see Risen, Risen 2, and Scribblenauts (amongst others) and in RPG I'll see Risen, Risen 2, and Skyborn (amongst others). Selecting both won't filter to just Risen and Risen 2, except in big picture mode. If there's a way to get that sort of filtering in detailed view, I'd love to know it.

54 hrs in Fallout 4 and I think I've finished all but 1 or 2 side quests.

I'm at the point in the game where I've run out of meaningful side things to do. I have all the armor sets including power armor (according to the fallout wiki, may be updated later, who knows), all the weapons I want, all the companions plus maxed the relationships for the ones I care about, explored approximately 60% of the world, and finished the abysmal main quest.

I could just finish up exploring the map but there isn't any incentive left for me to do so other than shooting things.

Should I be disappointed? I got 54 amazing hours out of the game yet I feel this emptiness inside me.

I usually take my Shmup hype to the OTs or shmup topics. It's too niche for SteamGAF.

I always see people saying how the CE of the latest AAA game is shit, why bother buying them when they almost alway suck?

It's always easy to separate an idiot from their money, don't buy CEs.

Japanese games CE are pretty good most of the time.

Safe option for CE is to only buy them if the statues are either faceless, non-human or nendoroid.
I don't think I've seen a bad nendoroid figures yet.

Recommending people buy a game at full price ever in this thread a week before a major sale probably isn't the best timing. Be sure to repost when it's a daily :)

Im hoping for price mistakes here.

Swiss Franc presumably wouldn't have any region locks if it has some mistakes.

But then they wouldn't have been able to get the game out in time for the movie + black friday.

The big mistake was charging $60 for it.

Aren't they projecting 10 million+ sales? Doesn't seem like a mistake in that case. Would love to see a single player game use that engine though, even if it's just a fairly generic single player shooter.

Maybe mistake was the wrong word. But the one negative that seems to be cropping up is lack of content/longevity. I hear something like that and a $60 game becomes a complete non-starter to me and I'm sure I'm not alone. Drop the price to $30-40 and there would be a lot more impulse buys from people on the fence. Just seems kinda like Titanfall all over again. But they've undoubtedly crunched the numbers and know what they're doing so maybe I'm just wasting my breath.

played a few more hours of fallout 4, but i think i'm just about done

this world is boring, people living in it are annoying and the gunplay is just not fun. these enemies still rush at you or just walk slowly at you while shooting their guns, stealth is still super unsatisfying and the quests and the dialogue system are just garbage. and i just can't stand any more loading screens, thinking about "i should grab my power armor to go through this difficult area" turns into "i'll just not clear it" because i don't wanna have to fast travel twice then fast travel again back to base to repair the pa.

i think fallout 4 is a bad game, it's a step down from fallout 3 in many things and it ignores completely the many accomplishments from new vegas and gets nothing for it. it's prettier and it's not absolutely awful to shoot stuff but that's not nearly enough. boston is just a lame, featureless setting for a fallout game (no idea about the real city but at least in fallout 4 it just looks like a less green dc) and bethesda doesn't have the creativity to fill it with anything interesting either.

i like the idea of randomized quests and base building, that stuff is a good direction for this series to go under bethesda, making the game less of an rpg and more of a stalker-like, but sadly none of this stuff seems to have any more depth than what's initially there and even when there is like with the base building stuff the interface gets in the way so much that it's just tedious and sluggish.

in a year in which witcha3 exists there's just no excuse for fo4 being this boring

i think i'm done, i wanna go back to playing good games

So I've resubbed to EVE Online right? Put out an ad for myself looking for a new corporation (guild) last Thursday and I've got like 30 offers to sort through and evaluate.

Also, since I purchased my game time from Amazon less than a week ago and the price went down (sale on now), I contacted Amazon asking for the difference. They can't actually refund you since digital transactions like that occur instantly, but they were nice enough to credit my account with $10 promo credit, which is pretty great.

This one almost looks like it's ripping assets off of Endless Legend. Almost.

Sucks to hear its so boring :(

Do you think DLC or mods can fix the boring parts of the game?

JaseC

gave away the keys to the kingdom.

Developer and publisher info is just like any other piece of store information -- it's set on a per-app basis. AssCreed Syndicate is probably the best example:

Developer: Ubisoft Quebec, in collaboration with Ubisoft Annecy, Bucharest, Kiev, Montreal, Montpellier, Shanghai, Singapore, Sofia, Toronto studios

In other words, someone mistakenly used NIS America rather than NIS America, Inc (or vice-versa), resulting in a split.

Odd that you consider it worse than Fallout 3 though, didn't think I'd hear that from anyone.
Thank you for your impressions.

Battlefront looks so sick

8YmIU2s.gif

I'm holding out for Star Wars Musou; you know Tecmo KOEI is gonna want some of dat SW munnay.

Besides blowing up hordes of clankers and/or Rebeles or Imperial soldiers as R2D2 would be the GOAT.

I still really like Battlefield but there's a lot more going on in those games both mechanically and in terms of scale.

zozTa6.gif

This is the reason I'd even bother playing Battlefront 2015; I'd play as Vader or the Jedis, I don't get the interest in playing as Rebels or Stormtroopers.

Sucks to hear its so boring :(
this is my opinion as a person that likes both content-oriented games and system-oriented games and LOVES games that combine the two (so fallout new vegas, stalker, deus ex, vampire bloodlines, etc.) so as a game that attempts what those games accomplished, i think fo4 is boring because:

its content is weak: bad writing, impossible-to-like characters (seriously who ever thought preston was a character worth having) and story, simple one-dimensional quests, repetitive dungeon mazes with little environmental storytelling or things that you'll remember two days down the line. boston in general is just unremarkable and you'd be forgiven for thinking the game's still set in dc

its systems are weak: enemy ai feels barely improved from new vegas, factions are too simple and uninteractive, companion wheel from nv is gone and replaced with a much more awkward system, the dialogue wheel is very poorly implemented, base building interface is less than ideal for its job and general interface is really bad (bit better than nv but that doesn't take much effort). perks and general character system have been streamlined to the point that they're not interesting anymore, specially since lots of early perk points must be spent just enabling basic game functionality like crafting and lockpicking

lots of other annoyances: loading screens for every town, bad performance, workshop items not being shared between settlements means a shit ton of wasted time going back and forth between settlements, really bad tutorializing, etc.

Do you think DLC or mods can fix the boring parts of the game?
i think the content part is fucked and no mods will be able to fix that as they weren't in fo3. you can't really mod in good writing or dramatically change the dialogue system, so that's just a bad point of the game that's probably gonna be impossible to fix. dlc could bring in some interesting areas and characters for sure, so maybe, but i'm not sure beth's capable of it

for other stuff, probably could be improved in a big way. mods will probably add survival stuff like thirst/hunger/sleep and i think that'll probably make things more interesting like they did in fo3/nv. not wildly so, but that's something i always appreciate.

other than that things like making items available from all workbenches at once, being able to call your power armor ironman-style, general perk rebalancing, detaching mods from weapons/armor, mtui for fo4, those things are probably gonna happen and will make the game better

so yes to some stuff, no to others.

my hopes are still in obsidian asking for the license to make a pillars of eternity-like fallout "spinoff". it'll never happen, but gotta hope

Odd that you consider it worse than Fallout 3 though, didn't think I'd hear that from anyone.

i think in many things it is. not everything, and i'm not sure if i'd call it worse as a whole but like i said before, i think fallout 3 got some things (specially atmosphere) right, while this game kind of doesn't do anything impressive anywhere.

everything just passes the requirements to be considered a feature but never goes beyond what you can see on the surface

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think Vader/Jedi Luke are powerups that you get in the middle of a match that lets you play as them for a few minutes. It's not something you can select in your loadout before the game starts.

After what happened last time, I'm sure Obsidian would be happier just making a game in a new IP that they could keep the rights to, rather than taking an unfavorable contract to make games in the universe they created in the first place.

I'd like a Star Wars game similar to X-COM where you control a squad of imperial or rebel troops.

I'd like an XCOM game similar to Star Wars, where my squaddies don't die.

This would be amazing. Operate out of the Rebel base on Yavin 4, control the squad that goes and steals the plans for the Death Star. Yeah, there's a really good game that could be made out of that framework. Great idea.

i think yes and no

new vegas you can feel is a work of love which tells me obs loves fallout way too much to let it go so easily

but ofc the smart thing to do would to make their own ip like eternity and move on

i'm hoping the world doesn't suck and beth offers them a good deal and obs just makes something great like usual

Thanks for the write up. Kind of upsetting to read some of that stuff. All everyone wanted was a next gen fallout and looks like Beth couldn't quite deliver.
don't get me wrong, if you liked fallout 3 you'll probably like this game too

but can't call it a good game when it's got so many problems and so very little to show for it

The thing with a potential New Vegas 2 by obsidian is, that they'd probably still have to work with that shitty dialogue system. There is just so much you can do with a Answer A, Answer B or Charisma check C system.

Just took out six honey badgers in Wasteland 2, all it required was three manglers, a grenade, a kickass sniper, and a pulse rifle. They don't call that the Leve L'upe Mine for nothing, and now I can get rid of Ralphy, the good for nothing that can't hit worth squat.

That was legit one of the hardest quests in the game. Had to come back a few hours later.
