Has more details been given out for the monetization strategy? Is it going to be more like Pokemon Shuffle where you can basically do anything without paying, or Stretchmo where you can't do jack shit without buying levels?

edit: never mind read Joe's more informed post below :p

Cool,that's soon.

Is there a way to just buy the game and skip all the f2p and microtransaction stuff?

This and Paper Jam together makes for some nice on the couch near the Christmas tree with some hot chocolate gaming.

This is what the site says
Picrites are rare stones with magical power. You can obtain them in various ways during your gameplay, such as by clearing a puzzle. With Picrites you can access more and more areas. You can also help the Pokémon recover their skills by using Picrites. Picrites may also be purchased with real money in Nintendo eShop.
But we also know there is a global spend limit on how many Picrites you can buy ever that is equal to retail price of a game. Bit much considering how cheap picross-E is and how this is the content of 2 or 3 of those?

Closer to Rumble World.

Basically, you earn Picrites as you play the game, by completing levels.

Picrites are then used to open new areas, and to remove the recovery time on support Pokémon, as well as your recover your Energy gauge (each move you make removes 1 value on your energy gauge, it regenerates over time. Energy gauge is 200 values big) faster.

You can also purchase Picrites as well as earn them through standard play. However, you can only ever buy a total of 5,000 Picrites, just like the limit in Rumble World. Once you've done that, you're done for spending for the life of the game. We only know Japanese pricing where 5,000 Picrites costs 3,750 Yen

So that's around 30 euros or something. Yikes. Guess Ill try to play it f2p. Not worth it compared to the price of other picross games.

For what it's worth, Picross is at least a pretty good game to take it slow on, so I'd imagine it shouldn't be too bad to play for free on, especially since I'm planning to avoid any Pokemon abilities that make things easier. Though that energy gauge on moves sounds slightly worrying...

Sweet, hopefully this should make up for Nintendo not putting any of the 3DS Picross games on sale for black Friday.

Yeah, in the other Picross games I usually only do like 3 or 4 at any one time, and I never use the hints or any that make the puzzles easier.

That Star Wars tower defense game on mobile is F2P with a limit on the number of levels you can play before needing to recharge, and I almost always stopped playing for the day before I ran out of "fuel".
