Can we call this a tease for a PS4 Remaster of Demon's Souls ?

DS2:SOTFS is 60fps on xb1 and ps4.

The only issue I could see with 60fps is that it might muck up some animations like it does in Dark Souls 1.
Assuming they just ported the game and unlocked the framerate.

Scholar doesn't have that problem because Dark Souls 2 doesn't have that problem as evidenced by the PC version.

Man. MAAAAN. The number one thing I've wanted out of an emulator is high resolution Demon's Souls, because I know how gorgeous Dark Souls could be downsampled.

Demon's Souls remaster sounds amazing. I wonder what changes they would make to it.

I fully believe that if effort was put into it FROM could have gotten Dark Souls working with an unlocked framerate entirely bug free. I also believe it would have been an easier process than the way the modders got it done. They have access to the source code, and its almost perfectly doable through modding. The task isn't impossible, just unimportant to them on that game.

I have no expectations that Demon's Souls couldn't be 60fps.

Please let this be true. Bloodborne was the first souls game I played and I tried to go back to Dark Souls, but struggled to get into it on PS3. I have just started Scholar of the First Sin and love it. If they bring both Demon's and Dark Souls to PS4, that would be amazing.

In level design, sure, but I was referring to the atmosphere and sense of oppression.

Naaaah. Latria is as maze like as it is oppressive and that style of progression through a level is really seen. Same with Stonefang. Absolutely love those two.

As a Souls fan I never played Demon's cause I played them all on 360/PC, so yeah, I would cry tears of joy if they release a PS4 version.

Wouldn't mind Dark 1 on PS4/One too, if only because I could have them all on the same console.

There were considerable differences specially when it comes to level and PVP design.

I want a break from interconnected areas, give me closed levels again.

I could get behind this. Dark Souls has a brilliantly interconnected world, but I don't think it's individual area design touches Demon's'. And at the end of the day that's what really matters to me. Like, I admire how Undead Burg connects to Firelink Shrine and Darkroot Garden, but I'd still take Boletarian Palace over it any day of the week.

Latria basically turns the game into some kind of survival horror/adventure game. It's still astonishing to me.

And they'd better not bother with a remaster if they're not going to add the last Archstone.

The last archstone would mean having to make an entirely new level of the game that looks better than the rest.

Assuming Bluepoint did it, they are def not making new portions of game code, only reworking old code

Stonefang nearly broke me. That long stretch in those cramped tunnels before Flamelurker made me put the controller down because I had difficulty breathing -_-

The interconnected "seamless" world hurt the series more than it helped it.

Demon's Souls is still king.

Thing is, Demon's Souls 2 would not be different enough from Dark Souls (3) like BB was. Despite the slight differences in atmosphere and lore, Dark Souls is essentially Demon's Souls 2.

There one important difference - Demon's Souls is a Sony exclusive they own. One they know they can drum up good will by remaking/ remastering regardless of what happens with DS3.

Because some people love the setting? Boletaria is a gritty, raw Berserk-inspired setting. Nothing in Dark Souls 1 or 2 comes close to Tower of Latria.

Latria is the only level that feels substantially different in regards to tone and it's just one area. Also, there's absolutely nothing preventing a Dark Souls game to feature something similar.
For all intents and purposes, they're part of the same series and there are about as much changes betwen DS and DkS1 as between DkS1 and DkS2.

& i will never understand people who need to insist that demon's souls is actually a dark souls game :) ...

You crazy, fam.

God, no.

The level is already there complete with enemy models and fully articulated ruins it just has no textures and AI. People hacked into it using CFW. It even has a boss arena that is blocked off. I mean it's clearly not finished but still it's not working from scratch either.

The most important "upgrade" we'd need in case of a remaster would be a removal or revamp of the tendency. It was a unique idea but locked you out of shitton of content.

There's really nothing about Boletaria that makes it all that different from Lordran/Drangleic. Every single area in Demon's Souls could just as easily fit in a Dark Souls game.

Well that's just, like, your opinion, man. I think Bloodborne's level design is at least as good as Demons'.

I want tendency to feel less like you need to game it by only being in soul form. I like it as a system but want it a bit more refined rather than removed.

This would be an insta-buy from me but i don't know what to think of that pic.

On the one hand, it's just a pic of From's Souls exclusives.

On the other, it is a bit strange that they would just post that at this time...

I want to believe but i'm not really boarding the hype train yet.

World tendency was fun and easy to control, but I could do without character tendency, yeah.

Ah, i knew some code was there, but not to that detail. Thanks for the information and clarification.

Even so, i'd assume they would eliminate that old code in the remaster. I don't expect Sony to go back and ask From to complete that level.

I expect a fairly straightforward remaster with upgrades in basic visuals and performance. It would be the easiest solution and fairly painless.

I mean it's really really far along. They even have all the items placed already. It might not take much to finish it up TBH.

Are you saying valley of defilement, a valley of aborted fetuses, is more upbeat in tone?

Dark Souls mood is one of self-reflection and melancholy after the world is fucked.

Demons is more ugly and miserable.

huh, I see Serpent Men were a thing in Demon's Soul too. :D

Lol yea. Apparently they actually told famitsu that they used a lot of their ideas for this area in Sen's Fortress. The boss dude even looks like this headless demons with the washing poles.

I mean they probably could have done it but it wouldn't have been a simple task. AFAIK and I'm NO expert, they'd have to at least untie the animations from the framerate which sounds like a hell of a lot of work. Definitely not an easy process depending on how the game was coded in the first place.

Would love this, Demon's Souls is one of my favourite's from last gen.

I mean, if they can find the resources to bang out a new version of sodding Beyond: Two Souls, i'm sure they can do it for a bona fide classic like Demon's.

This one shows someone trying to play the level.

Looks very unfinished(especially the collision detection), but the assets are all there.

Asking for Demons Souls 2 is like asking for SMT If... 2 instead of Persona 5, or Call of Duty 6 instead of Advanced Ghost Ops 2. They've moved on.
