Absolute worst music in a game?

I figured that X was going to find its way into this thread. If thats what sets the standard for absolute worst then you must not have heard the worst the medium truly has to offer. That basement theme is horrendous.
Absolute worst = I don't like, just like threads where ops ask for just 1 favorite and people list more than 1; we can't comprehend the meaning of words.

I play Xenoblade Chronicles X atm and...
UH YEAH YEAH

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_N7WgxEoI8

And this plays in the main hub of the game :D I really like most of the soundtrack but that one stands out for me.
So short, repetitive and horrible "lyrics" .

This is not by any means the worst I have ever heard but it's the most recent one that comes into my mind.

It isn't bad, but it needs verses to go along with the ad-libbing. I got myself ready for some rapping only to never hear it unless there's another version floating around.

These are the correct answers. Can't decide which is worse.

the RE DirCut basement one is so much, infinitely worse

i cant see how anyone could compare the Sonic Chronicles tune to this

I can't stop listening to it

The lyrics are shit, but the vibe is actually pretty badass. Fits with JSRF perfectly.

Edit: also the 20+ other great tracks in that game easily make up for the handful of honkers

A) It doesn't fit with the vibe at all
B) But the actual groove is pretty great, and has that Western thing going on
C) But the vocals are vacuous

... I don't know what to believe

Now that's just... crazy.

If I had to choose between listening to XCX's soundtrack beginning to end or being flung into the sun by an enormous catapult, I would choose the latter without hesitation.

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
I think people are looking differently at those rapping scores. Don't listen to "understand" the rap, think of them instead as another instrument, i.e. an a cappella.

I can't stand "anime music" or whatever it's called. Bland orchestral music with choir vocals or cheery pop with synth/guitar and a high pitched singer that sounds always the same. JRPGs, souls games etc. Some arcade car racers also had these crappy jingles. Always turned it off.

Yeah, I pay 0 attention to the lyrics. Xenoblade X reminds me of Meguro's Persona scores in that respect.

I had some things on my mind like some of the action/suspense music in the Walking Dead and that "band" they keep shoving in your face in Gone Home but this thread has shown me what a sheltered life I've lived regarding horrible music in video games.

I really don't understand the hate for Xenoblade X's soundtrack. That track in particular.
I really love every song I heard so far. It's epic and in my opinion it really fits the game.
Aside from the fact that it suffers from severe Interstellaritis, where the music is louder than the voices in almost all of the cutscenes.

EDIT: Wow, this whole thread is full of people giving me super awesome excuses to punch them in the face.
You also make me very sad :(

EDIT2: If you want to hear the absolute worst music of all time you people should definitely go check out some old Atari or bad C64 games. Or bad ZX Spectrum ports. Hell, the absolute worst must surely lurk somewhere in the 8- and 16-Bit era of video games.
I just cannot think of any game from the PS1/N64/Saturn era onward that had something even close to the absolute worst music in video games. Hell, even everything I heard for SNES and Genesis/Mega Drive was nowhere near as bad as that title theme to Crazy Bus or anything from any Wisdom Tree NES game ever.

Oh sure, to the untrained ear this may sound awful. But beneath the surface lies a rich musical depth that, once understood, sounds absolutely magical. Its brilliance is in how its controlled chaos emerges after repeated listens. Structurally, the tight, syncopated polyrhythms challenge the listener to keep up with its own pace--not the other way around--and the process of discovering the regular tempo and hidden pattern in what appears to be a cacophony of notes make for a truly rewarding experience. Tonally, the complex, multilayered composition of slightly dissonant tones is masterfully crafted, appearing to musical dilettantes as a maelstrom of notes. However, this tonal whirlwind belies a shockingly simple cluster of chords and arpeggiations that, when arranged together, create a sound that satisfies the listener on an intellectual, emotional, and spiritual level.

Worst music? No, I submit to you that is the apex of progressive composition. Indeed, it is the difference between a run-of-the-mill hamburger and an expertly prepared steak tartare with bittersweet chocolate and jalapeño; these elements, while on the surface sounding like an absolutely ghastly combination, can be fused together by the right hands to create a dish that is truly special. And that is what this song is--truly special.

That one from Enchanted Arms that's an inoffensive acoustic melody brutalized by this goofy as fuck kazoo or whatever riff blaring throughout the track. Brings me to tears every time.

I honestly have no idea what they were thinking of when they put that harmonica in the background.

Another from Enchanted Arms is the Tunnel theme. It's just the same drum beat that's maybe a second or two long looped over and over again with some other instruments occasionally coming in.

the phrase "anime music" is ridiculous - but i totally know what sort of music he's referring to and can't stand it either

the title theme for Dragon's Dogma is fucking brilliant until the heinous pop punk and tenor vocals start

sure, but, Souls?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZWpYGuqsHI

if this is anime music then like every movie contains anime music

The song really is, the vocals, not so much.

And I really like Sawano too, but this one was kinda ruined by the vocals. Completely unnecessary :C

Can you link the other versions?

The only part of the vocals I don't like is the Uh yeah, but the Woooooo is perfect.

The game has no other soundtrack beyond this.
Wait, I thought Michael Nyman did the soundtrack for Enemy Zero? Is none of this actually heard in-game? That seems very odd considering Kenji Eno loved Nyman's music and went out of his way to contract him.

Hell naw. Birthday Cake is fun, yummy dissonance, and it's got fairly weird lyrics to boot.
