Absolute worst music in a game?

Drakengard's OST is just straight up noise. It makes sense in the context of the game, but it is intentionally aggressive and bad. I can't stand it.

On-Topic: RE1 Director's Cut. It's astoundingly bad.

The most amazing thing about that song is that it was written by an award winning deaf composer who also worked on the Onimusha series (which has some pretty good music). But he has been outed as having ghost writers, faked being deaf, and generally being a fraud about everything.

edit: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-02-05-resident-evil-and-onimusha-composer-exposed-as-a-fraud

The RE song is probably one he did himself haha.

Super Meat Boy PS4/Vita version. They totally redid the soundtrack and it's almost complete garbage.

Here's the Forest music in the original game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xHttYIwocY

Edmund McMillen's games have a very specific style to them that, at least for me, is instantly recognizable through the music and the art-style. The new soundtrack clashes so hard with that style, it just doesn't work.

Holy shit... I really like Ridiculon's work with BoI: Rebirth/Afterbirth's OST, but that was just "instantly grating my ears" bad.

I see Yoshi's New Island has already been picked as it should but here's another Yoshi game with bad music.

To go from YI Castle theme to this monstrosity.

It's about time Wooly World set the series back on track after all the years Nintendo allowed Artoon/Arzest to crap on YI legacy.

Was there ever an excuse given on why the Resident Evil music was changed the way it was? I mean in the original the Basement music makes it the scariest place in the game. I like to imagine that before the dual shock version some playtester data said that the basement was too scary and they needed to change it so they made it something comical.

It sounds like the midi instruments fucked up or something and either it was too late to fix, broke something else or nobody actually checked to see if that was correct or not.

the phrase "anime music" is ridiculous - but i totally know what sort of music he's referring to and can't stand it either

the title theme for Dragon's Dogma is fucking brilliant until the heinous pop punk and tenor vocals start

Well I definitely wouldn't call Orchestral music with choir vocals "anime music"

That just sounds like a broad generalization. For example I wouldn't go so far to call tracks like FF7's One Winged Angel or even FFXIII-2's Invisible Depths "anime music"

Making such a claim just sounds like a disservice to composers such as Hitoshi Sakimoto and Koichi Sugiyama which have a background in classical music composition for their style of music.

Hell this label could also describe some tracks from Jeremy Soule even.

I don't know why the music in the OP is supposed to be annoying.

I'm not very far into the game, but you can bet that when I'm done running away from all the beasts that I could not kill, that Music becomes the most relaxing thing in the world

I almost regret buying XCX because of the soundtrack. It's not the worst I've heard, of course, but it's certainly a disappointment after listening to the first Xenoblade OST.

Can't believe people don't like Birthday Cake. MADNESS.

The new Super Meat Boy soundtrack is fine as well. Obviously it's not even close to as good as dB but it's hardly "absolute worst music in a game" bad, it's just worse than the original is all.

if this is anime music then like every movie contains anime music

Yeah, that word in his post makes 0 sense.

Wow, yeah.

This sounds fully experimental. Those vocals. Those loops.

Bart Vs. the World (NES) - Chinese Ship

It repeats every 5 seconds and sounds terrible. This tested my sanity like nothing else before and forced me to mute the game.

I just love that no-effort image. Just brilliant.

I first listened to the new one.
I thought it was manageable.

Then I listened to the old tracks.
JESUS FUCK WHAT HAVE THEY DONE

I play Xenoblade Chronicles X atm and...
UH YEAH YEAH

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_N7WgxEoI8

And this plays in the main hub of the game :D I really like most of the soundtrack but that one stands out for me.
So short, repetitive and horrible "lyrics" .

This is not by any means the worst I have ever heard but it's the most recent one that comes into my mind.

It's not that annoying but i was never a big fan of pop and guitars in RPGs except when used sparingly. Ruins my immersion.

Approach to Despair in Harmony of Dissonance was terrible. A lot of the soundtrack was hurt by the sound quality, but this is just a legit garbage composition. Boring as hell and plays in a pretty dull area as well.

It sounds fine to me. It was my first time hearing it, and although it's nothing great, it checks out tonally. The only thing that might be off putting is the switching between 7/8 and 4/4.
