Oh I didn't even realize this had happened. My original request was for an old pic that I thought just got passed up but this works perfect. Sorry for the delayed thank you!
As for the keyboard thing. Try uninstalling the keyboard from device manager, updating the driver, checking the keyboard settings and make sure you didn't put it in a different mode. If none of that works, it may actually be a hardware issue specifically with firmware sending the ctrl signal. To make sure borrow an extra keyboard and try that.
Thanks for the advice! I think I'm stuck with a broken ctrl keys from now on. Just was reading how the ctrl keys are attached at the same point on the ribbon and so it's logical they both would cease functioning if it's being obstructed or severed somehow. I'll stick with an external keyboard for now until I figure out something else to replace the ctrl keys.
