Yes and yes.Wasn't the dev unit like $350? Is this significantly better?
it's still too high.

How is this any different than any other piece of consumer technology?Early adopters in VR are throwing money into a hole. If VR takes off these headsets will be obsolete in a year or two.
Rift was always about the long game, not the short
But it is concerning, price will need to be a major focus for the second consumer release
Do we really expect Sony's to be that much lower? I can easily see it being $399-$499.
I can't pay for it, it keeps saying something went wrong, tried all my cards. Wtf.
Champagne must be popping at Sony.

Vive has to 999.99 I would believe. O.R. just set the bar. My guess would be PSVR 499, Vive 999, OR now confirmed 599.
It is quite expensive. If I can get the damn store to load I'll preorder one and think about keeping it or not over the next month.
Why would Vive cost that much more?
I'm honestly surprised that everyone is surprised by this price. I thought most people on gaf were expecting a price like this.
Got mine in. Can't wait!!!!!
680 dollars with tax and shipping.
I haven't been following both of them but in all the previews from Engadget it seemed they compared favorably to each other no?
Plus even if its not the same high resolution offering or whatever the differences are if PSVR is at a consumer price point it has the chance to easily be the market leader.
This is a bad comparison. Video playing devices and TVs are always much more expensive at first and then cheaper parts/production along with competition drive the price down. This is more like if Apple had released a new product that cost as much as an iPad while still requiring the iPad itself... except without the Apple brand recognition.http://www.electronicsweekly.com/ne...first-blu-ray-player-with-1000-price-2006-06/
Holy shit guys, the first Blu-Ray player is going to cost $1000. RIP Blu-Ray, DOA.
Got mine in. Can't wait!!!!!
its $781 australianJust watched a streamer going from:
"Oh god, is the Rift preorder up!? - Gonna go preorder!"
To
"A 1000 australian bucks?.. that's... no.. no way man"
In around 1 minute. Good stuff.
Hahah
I really don't see how or why there's any surprise in regards to the price. We all pretty much knew to expect this, didn't we?
Either way... now I'm debating whether or not to bite.
