Thanks for the effort Shinobi.

Quite a lot of the top ten is similar to my own.

Can't wait to play Uncharted 4 and vote for Horizon Zero Dawn next year :p

Yearly releases always reduce my hype.

and also DS3 looks more similar to Bloodborne than the GOAT DS! and that makes it less impressive :/

This makes no sense, Demon's is factually better than Dark 1.

I just think people are forgetting about it because Bamco are doing a terrible job at marketing the game, I have no doubt that the game would have been higher if it had a new awesome trailer or the network test was open.

I don't see how you can believe people are forgetting about it. Dark Souls III is at #5. Its placement makes perfect sense, especially when you consider the games in front of it, which absolutely deserve to be in the lead.

And I'm only anticipating Zelda more than DS3, so it's not like I personally want Persona and Horizon more than it.

7 for PS4, no? Persona 5 is on PS3 too.

Depends how you look at it I suppose. Games like Titanfall, Forza Horizon 2, Rise of the Tomb Raider etc are also still popularly regarded as exclusives, by forum goers and media alike. I think a similar understanding has simply been adopted towards other games. Titanfall sort of popularised it.

Not really sure why that came about, it's almost like the gaming media suddenly decided the older gen consoles no longer mattered, or even existed, even when they were still getting tentpole releases.

Maybe, I just think people are forgetting about it because the game hasn't had a decent trailer in forever.

Probably because those games were promoted as next gen games and the last gen ports were done by external studios.

P5 is basically a PS3 developed game being up ported. It was first announced for PS3 and I assume if PS4 became lead platform it's so late in the process now that the benefits will be simple rather than drastic. Doesn't seem like it's going to do anything crazy on the technical end. It'll probably benefit from increased resolution and maybe framerate, but I doubt the PS3 version is an afterthought as much as the other examples.

I don't know, the 360 versions of the above games seem highly competent, especially RotTR and Titanfall. Hell in terms of input response, RotTR is actually better than the next gen alternative, and Titanfall actually had a better frame rate on the 360 as well. Naturally both games took big visual cut backs compared to their new gen counterparts. I suspect in terms of graphical differences, there will be just as much of a difference between the P5 versions, probably more in performance too, simply because the performance gap between the PS3 and PS4 is greater.

1: Street Fighter V: 11th on Gaf - Quite surprised it wasn't in the top 10. I know SF isn't the most approachable game ever but it's the most recognised fighter and a follow up the the hugely successful SF4 in 2009.
2. Uncharted 4: 1st on Gaf - The TLOU effect. If this was coming up after UC3 it would not have been on top let alone twice. Of course credit where credit is due, ND revealed amazing gameplay segments and new features.
3. Horizon Chase: 165th on Gaf - So just 1 or 2 other people voted for it. Makes sense it is a port of a mobile release. The fact it's a love letter to classic arcade racers like Outrun has me really excited to get my hands on it.
4: Eitr: 127th on Gaf - Yeah, well outside of that one E3 trailer I don't believe much else has been publicly shown. Anyway that E3 trailer was enough for me, you had me at gorgeous art style.
5. Neir Automata: 12th on Gaf - Platinum game not in the top 10? For shame. This looks kick ass!
6. Mother Russia Bleeds: 118th on Gaf - Guess I still have a love for beat em ups unlike most. This game looks legitimately fun.
7. Ni-oh: 24th on Gaf - Souls copy or not I am craving for a samurai action game and it seems most of Gaf is too. Nice.
8. Unravel: 65th on Gaf - This game is not nearly as anticipated as I thought it would be judging by the incredible E3 response.
9. The Witness: 30th on Gaf - After so many years of voting people are still pretty hyped for the next Blow game. It looks bloody interesting so there's that, and coming this month!
10. The Last Guardian: 7th on Gaf - I guess gaf likes it more than me. Team Ico or whatever they are called now, can they even live up to the expectations? As long as it's as good as their past 2 games then it'll still be incredible.

With the games you listened there was a very "there's no way this thing will run well on old consoles" mentality. It was really a surprise some of them turned out so well.

I don't really get that sense from P5 just because it was slated just for PS3 for so long I suppose. The series has never been a technical powerhouse so the PS3 will probably be a perfectly viable choice.

At the end of the day it doesn't really matter since it's just a pointless label. Most of us will play the game on PS4. I was just making that minor correction. It's still a "Playstation exclusive" for whatever that's worth.

I imagine it'll be similar to Tales of Zesteria in that regard, though hopefully they atleast don't cap the framerate at 30 with Persona.

Woah, #FE is GAF's second most anticipated game!

In this thread, posters are shocked to discover that their favourite upcoming niche games are on very few other people's radar.

LOL, next Tales is that not impressive?

Tales games are like the junk food of JRPG's at this point. The last time a Tales of game impressed a lot of people was in 2008 with Vesperia. Ever since then it's kind of become formulaic and conservative.

Xillia (2013), Zestiria (2015) and Berseria (2016/2017) are all cut from the same cloth, and I imagine that's not nearly as exciting a proposition as the first console Star Ocean game in 6-7 years,

1. the legend of zelda wii u (4) after decades of missed opportunities and squandered ambition, i think nintendo is going to nail here what they set out to do with ocarina of time. i'm excited for that at least.
2. fire emblem fates (16) can't go wrong with more fire emblem, and this time it seems there's a lot more fire emblem.
3. dragon quest vii (35) hyped as one of the best in the series, or at least one with a lot of really well-done content. looking forward to what i missed out on over a decade ago.
4. mirror's edge catalyst (14)
5. the last guardian (7) maybe i'll have a ps4 by then to appreciate this and mirror's edge. i hope the platform is affordable by then.
6. zero escape 3 (17)
7. smt x fire emblem (41) this will be my persona fix next year since persona 5 isn't coming out.
8. ead tokyo's nx mario game (vote not counted for some reason) i mean it's definitely happening
9. twilight princess hd (63) i haven't played this game in nearly 10 years. i'm looking forward to playing it again with whatever additions or changes that are made.
10. horizon (3) i don't have a ps4 and i never played a guerilla game, but this looks like an interesting open world.

dang i was really close

Great work shinobi, thanks for putting this together! Looks like a solid list to me, maybe my only surprise is that Horizon ranked before Zelda.

ps4 owners outrank wii u owners by nearly 4:1. it shouldn't be a big surprise, especially when more than a couple of minutes of horizon's been shown off and it looks pretty unique.

Makes sense, Veesperia was the last impressive Tales game imo too. I did enjoy Xillia even tho it was mediocre lol.

Is ToB expected to come out in the west this year?

They did announce it for the west(PS4/PC) and I'm not sure about the release darte.

they didn't announce the western release date for SO5 either so it's fair to compare between the two.

Am I blind or isn't there Fable in list?

Oh yeah. I guess hardly anyone voted for it? I'd forgotten about it to be honest.

I was hyped for Fable 1 hoping it would the RPG it promised to be. I was hyped for Fable 2 hoping it would learn from 1's mistakes. I was wary of 3 so waited for reviews and only ended up buying the PC version years later at a low price out of curiosity.

If Fable Legends was a new team lead rebooting the IP to try and become the RPG it had always promised to be, then I'd be cautiously interested. But instead it's some kind of... MOBA thing? But at the same time definitely not a MOBA? A free to play multiplayer game, but can also be played offline? I honestly have no idea what the hell it's trying to be. I just know it's not an RPG.

Same here. Definitely still enjoy playing them, if only because I enjoy the skits and battle system, and we don't get many console JRPG series released as reliably and on schedule as Tales of anymore. Still need to finish Zestiria actually...
