It's crazy to think that i'm so excited for a game that i already played so often.

Damn, it's finally here here. Dragon's Dogma how it always should have been...
It's a version that doesn't run at 8 frames every 5 seconds. That's something to be excited for in my book :p

Less than an hour until we are all dangan.

Still on the fence about what vocation I want to start as, although I'm leaning towards Strider. :S

Nice. Which one doesn't bleed through fog? Tested yet?

This is the HBAO in ENB:

Look at the ground in the shadow of the tree.

Without AO:

It all depends if HBAO+ or Gedosato do the same thing, it could be specific to ENB.

Man...I can't even imagine how this is going to feel at 60fps after playing dozens of hours in the ps3 version.

So excited!

Here's a pic from the wiki I found quite helpful in deciding which class to go for:

Can you go straight to a hybrid vocation, or do you have to first choose an advanced?

IIRC, the only requirement to unlock hybrid vocations are being in Gran Soren and having the necessary discipline points.

Edit: And you need to be level 10.

You have to start with the basics first, but once you reach lvl 10 and max out a vocation, you can jump to a hybrid vocation.

Wow yeah that's pretty bad, could you test HBAO+ if you don't mind? Curious to see if it's the same.

I don't even understand how to add this to GeDaSoTo...I know it is in the OP lol.

I have only used that program twice to downsample which was a breeze as they were selectable in the drop down menu.

Bolded is false. The only thing you need is lv 10 and access to the right person, plus the discipline points to unlock the new Vocation.

This will be my first time playing this. A friend of mine who has already said mages as your primary job in this game aren't good and that I should get mage pawns instead, but I really just wanna cast wizard spells. Is he right? Should I give up my dream of blowing stuff up?

Beat the game on PS3, but I've been waiting for PC to truly lose myself in it. Thinking of skipping the gym tonight to play as soon as I get off work.

Mages are damn fine classes, just really, really hard to play out of the gate. They are proper glass cannons, dealing good damage, but dying in just a few hits.

You want the Sorcerer job.

All jobs in the game are good within the vital roles they fill. With Mage, you're mostly focusing on healing and buffing yourself and your pawns as you are the only job that can heal freely. However, if you want to blow shit up with magic, Sorcerer has BOUNTIFUL amounts of spell that do just that.

You can use them

Certain classes are kind of better, like how the advanced warrior has no chance to a strider and such. Magic Archer is everyones go to class for the endgame superboss.

You don't do Family Library Sharing?

N-nope

I can understand him using it and even told him he can, but I buy so many more games than him that this is the first situation in years where I would benefit instead of him :p

afaik Boris is already aware of this but only built the early ENB releases we currently have in the prologue area, where HBAO supposedly works fine.
Think he said he will wait for the official release to fix this so he doesn't waste time with replaying progress.

Can anyone tell me if they nerfed the Assassin and the Ranger in the game even moreso then what happened from OG DD to DD:DA? I was able to completely take out all of BBI solo with either class.

Thanks.

No
This is DD:DA still

I mean, sure, they're nerfed or whatever, but I still completely disagree with the statement "all vocations are balanced", since these two are absurdly powerful.
It's more of an "all vocations are playable, but there are a few that are crazy powerful."

That's why I was asking - even nerfed the Assassin was WAAAAAAAAAAY too OP in Dark Arisen. And the Ranger's Ten-fold flurry was fucking beyond broken with the right bow.

I have never played before should I start on Hard mode or is this game really hard and we should just go normy?

Start on hard. The headaches for the first few hours disappear once you've hit double digit levels.

Alright, it sounds like I'm going to give it a try then. I kind of don't like the idea of having to be the guy that heals and buffs my team since that just seems like busywork. Does having a 2nd mage pawn to take care of that work?

You can solo the whole game
If you want heals and such, one pawn will do

You don't need two, but you can if you want? I played the vast majority of it without extra pawns.

The Assassin (built right) is fucking ridiculous - you can literally take out ever single boss in the game solo and not break a sweat.

The Ranger is like that too but doesn't have some of the wonderful tricks
invisibility
that the Assassin has.

Mystic Archer, again, built right utterly annihilates Bitter Black Island solo as well.

Corking OT Grief!

Despite being paitent for years whilst this came to PC the last couple of days have been excuciatiing knowing it's in my account and just waiting to be released. Also I assume there's still some fucking horrible banding at night and in darker areas.Hopefully that's easy to sort with a little SweetFX/GeDoSaTo/Reshade magic.

OP Vocations? IIRC, it's "play the game the way you want, it's really not a big deal, and this is not a game you want to rig your playthrough for ease, or else you'll be having a lot less fun."
I think it's assassin/archer/ranger or whatever, with mystic archer being highly useful for the endgame boss. Basically, Daggers are extremely powerful for their chain attacks on climbed upon enemies and for reset and such, and bows with tenfold flurry are just maiming your opponents.

Yeah. From what I've seen it mostly works. It is just this and a few night time situations that look weird. What I'd like to know is if the other implementations suffer from similar problems.

Can I change the difficulty to "hard" once I'm in NG+? Or am I locked on normal difficulty forever if I opt for it?

There is only easy and normal mode even in NG+ I think which you can switch whenever you want. Hardmode itself which you start from the main menu can't be changed (at least from what I remember)
