Push Square Feature: 25 Games That Prove PlayStation Vita Ain't Dead Yet

Stop! Pack up that PlayStation Vita shaped coffin and plop your posterior on a pew: Sony's smallest system may not possess the unstoppable popularity of the PlayStation 4, but if going mainstream was really considered cool, then we'd all be rocking Bieber barnets and humming the chorus to Love Yourself. No one wants to do that, so who cares if the Vita's barely sold 10 million units – the little man that can's got game. Seriously, here are 25 upcoming titles that should be on your game-dar.

The list:

A Boy and His Blob
Assassin's Creed Chronicles
Civilization Revolution2 Plus
Cosmic Star Heroine
Crypt of the Necrodancer
Day of the Tentacle Remastered
Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth
God Eater 2: Rage Burst
Hearth Forth, Alicia!
Hitman Go
Hyper Light Drifter
LEGO Marvel's Avenger
Mighty No. 9
Minecraft: Story Mode
Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme VS Force
Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir
Rainbow Skies
Samurai Warriors 4: Empires
Senran Kagura: Estival Versus
Severed
Shakedown Hawaii
Stranger of Sword City
Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization
VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action
World of Final Fantasy

Should have pared it down to 20 or 15 because some of those are reaching and making it seem a bit desperate.

There were games they didn't mention that I definitely would. It's trying for a wider range of taste, but there are lots of other games that'd make the cut and increase the list numbers.

Those seem to be mostly indie games that I can just get on PC though. I love the Vita, but its on life support

Looking forward to Sword Art Online and Life & Hometown simulator though. Oh and Civilization is up my alley as well.

Not really, I think they were going for variety. Also there are quite a few games that are coming out for Vita not even mentioned on that list, so it's not like there aren't plenty of titles to choose from. I mean there's no mentions of Trails of Cold Steel 2, or Zero Time Dilemma, or Danganronpa 3, or Ray Gigant, or Project Setsuna...not to mention the various indie titles not on this list. No need to reach, Vita library is still going strong.

I think it'd be more effective if it excluded late ports; there's certainly other games out there - new releases and in some cases exclusive releases - that are less likely to get viewed as "But I've already played that".

Yup, plenty of other games too like Trillion, MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune vs Zombies etc.

I don't count the multiplats.

Unless that is what you have to consider to 'keep a system alive'.
Yeah lets use the subjective point of view of someone to narrow the list! Seriously. These are games you can like them or not. But still are games. I don't get the trolling in this system, you have won already : the system is dying since the release date but refuses to go. Vita will stay a few years more wandering like a kind ghost in the gaming industry. It's like the Dreamcast of the handhelds.

AssCreed 2d, Alicia, Severed, Hyper Lighter Drifter and Mighty no.9 are on my list too.

I don't care for the rest but on the other hand I have another 20-something made by: Axiom Verge, Attractio, Oddworld NnT, Rocketbirds 2, Shantae 4, Bloodstained, Iconoclasts, Beyond Human, Lumo, Assault Android Cactus and more, hoping that most of those will actually release on the system.

Nice list but they seem to have listed only confirmed localizations and missing some important games like God Wars, Protonovus Assault, Ray Gigant and Trilion God of Destruction.

For me biggest games this year will be World of Final Fantasy, SaGa Scarlet Grace (which Square will be jerk about and leave it Japan exclusive), 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, New Danganronpa V3 and City Shrouded in Shadows.

Yes I know all of them are also coming for PS4, but this is a portable system we're talking about. Taking your games everywhere matters more for lots of people. If I cared about playing games o big screen or better framerates, I'd have bought a Game Boy Player instead of 3 different GBA hardware.

This arguement really needs to stop, you don't hear this about PS4 or Xbox One. Besides having games like Digimon and Cold Steel portable is a blessing.

I think I'll be dead when Cosmic Star Heroine will release, seems like it's been years since I've waited for it, that and Hyper Light Drifter.

Confirmation if ever it were needed that the console is serving the needs of the existing userbase very well but doing nothing to expand on it really.

19 games in there I'd be genuinely interested in buying at some point, and it doesn't even list some of my most anticipated upcoming games (Drifter; Drift Stage; Trillion God of Destruction and of course XCOM if that's real).

I dont see any proof. Can we ban OP for misleading title?

Yeah looks a great year for Vita actually. And this isn't counting the GE 1 remake too! And ZE3 and Danganronpa V3!

Actually, Cosmic Star Heroine has been in development for a little over 2 years now (about 2 years, 4 months). Most games don't get announced a month or two after development starts, but we needed the Kickstarter to help fund development.

Admittedly, we're behind schedule (thought we could finish in 2014) and development has been much longer than our past games (most of which have taken about a year), but Cosmic Star Heroine is SO much better than any of our older games. Looks fantastic on the Vita too.

As a Vita owner there's not one game there that I really want. There's a few I'm slightly curious about (Cosmic Star, Digimon, God Eater), and only World of Final Fantasy that I'm considering. But given the choice the PS4 versions come first so I doesn't really feel anymore alive.

Any timeframe for the release?

Nuclear Throne and Trails of Cold Steel are my current Vita addictions

Looking to add Darkest Dungeon, Odin Sphere, CSH and Cold Steel 2 this year among others

Vita is the little system that keeps bringing me joy in very convenient fashion

That convenience is huge for an old fart like me

Most of the NX's games are going to be shared between console and portable, and a majority of the PS4 and XBone libraries are shared with PC. You're going to have a very frustrating time with the way the gaming industry is trending.

Unless you consider everything to be on life support.

There we go. Nihon Falcom gets all my love.

Boom

You clowns dont even know how great it is

You don't like getting comfy on your desktop playing indie games? That's how I like playing my indie games. In my parents house on the computer. Just like the devs

How many of these are also on other consoles?

I don't count the multiplats.

This argument is always self-contradictory. What does it matter if it is not an exclusive? That argument would stand for every single console the game is coming out for as well. Therefore, it fails to make any distinction whatsoever between platform libraries.
Also, by that logic, since you're implying that multiplatform games do not matter on any platform they come out on, you're implying that only exclusive releases matter in the whole industry. And that's such bullshit that it'd be sufficient to fertilize the metaphorical pasture for decades.

See, this is actually the reason I love the Vita fanbase so much. For most (if not all) other systems out there, people buy it because there is no other alternative (i.e. to play exclusives). The Vita fanbase chooses the Vita from multiple choices- the Vita fanbase revels in the experience of the Vita itself.
