Because this game likely had shorter development time than other games Ubi Montreal typically put out. And it will encourage them to continue doing so with games. And you won't always have the same result.

Xbox Live is down and is not letting anyone play their digital games. Such a joke, but perhaps by tomorrow they will get their shit together. I sure would love to be able to play the games I paid for.
I can play all of my digital games by going offline but this needs to be activated first so we were hoping it would at least do that and you can play offline, but no such luck

FWIW, I always anticipate your posts the most in the lead-up to games. #1 because I agree with your opinion 90% of the time, #2 because you often post early impressions on GAF before all others, and #3 because your general enthusiasm toward AAA games is so refreshing compared to much of the industry's pessimism.

Well thank you very much. Glad to know some folks appreciate the things I discuss. I just have a general love for gaming aaa or indie. Doesn't matter. I play almost everything and enjoy things mostly, yet know when to discuss issues I have with games. Honestly Far Cry Primal is a HUGE surprise for me. I was expecting to think nothing of it and now its on my list of surprise hits of 2016. I wanted to play more tonight but me and the wife catching up on Game of Thrones lol

Idk, the objective marker telling me exactly where to "find" shelter is there, and all collectables are flashing.
I disabled all hud except damage indicator and ammo count (because there's no actual in-game feedback for these otherwise).
I mean I even disabled crosshair. If a guy disables crosshair, he's serious. And yet, all this flashing and hand holding.
Maybe you cannot disable it yet? Idk, I dont even see a toggle in the options for these two particular things.
Edit: lol didn't realize you could scroll the hud menu, haha i'm so dumb.

Every time they announce a new one, I'm just kind of on the fence like "eh, whatever, I don't think I care much" -- then the reviews roll out, and I usually like what I see, pick it up, and wonder why I wasn't excited in the first place.
Primal's doing the same thing that 3 and 4 did in that regard. I'm kind of intrigued to check it out now.

Detective vision going on in full effect. No other in-game feedback to track blood or footprints, you're forced to use batman vision or just guess where to go.
Edit: actually there are footprints, just really hard to see, awesome.

You listed a bunch of positives and came to a negative conclusion.
Publishers are not stupid despite what some on GAF say. They almost always know why a game succeeds or fails. Us? We take shots in the dark - we don't even know where the bar is set.

Far Cry is one franchise I don't really understand the fatigue. FC2 was very different than FC1, FC3 was a huge change/improvement over 2. FC4 was flat out a copy/paste job, but that's only 2 similar games in a row. Nowhere near AC levels of repetition.
Now Primal seems pretty unique. I don't get it.

How's the performance and IQ for those who are playing on PS4? Good AA solution like Far Cry 4? I wonder if shimmering is an issue with so much grass and leaves.

Can't blame you since Game of Thrones is incredible haha. That's awesome to hear about Far Cry Primal. I wasn't expecting much from it but am now picking it up tomorrow. I also remember when you posted about how awesome Until Dawn was before the reviews came out. That got me so hyped and I loved that game so much. It was my surprise game of 2015.
I know PSN had it for $17.99 recently.

The cheapest it's been on Steam was $19.99, and that was last week.

IQ is better than Far Cry 4 at least. Looks beautiful most of the time.
Xbox One. Everything looks great. Definitely a slower paced far cry!
