Okay, this is a stupid rumor for one simple reason, Yoshio Sakamoto was promoted to NCL Development Department Manager back in 2014, this is fact. Tanabe works under Sakamoto now, so do over a dozen producers actually, and Sakamoto oversees more projects now from his promotions from Group Manager (managed 2-3 development teams at a time) to Department Manager (manages a dozen of development teams at a time). Sakamoto will likely be overseeing Federation Force from an executive or senior production position, just like he will be many other games. This doesn’t require much research as it is an ostensible certainty based on his position at the company. But Sakamoto isn’t going to be flying over to Texas to do quarterly checks on the products. There are plenty of traveling producers at NCL who specifically serve that role of international producers, who are accustomed to traveling Japan, Europe, and the US. Those sets of producers/coordinators will report to Sakamoto (DM)/Takahashi (GM) in Japan.

Tanabe not working directly with Retro on this next project doesn't mean it is because of this dramatic work that Tamaki may be fabricating. Nintendo has over a dozen US producers that switch between projects. Sakamoto is their boss now. Then Takahashi is Sakamoto's boss.

I will also make this point of reference over Tamaki. I'm friends with a few development personnel in Japanese and US based offices with direct relation or affiliation to Nintendo. I don't badger them about secrets, like ever. But when our conversations do steer towards Nintendo, it's clear to see how the company protects itself, and how the employees respect the company. Unless this dude is friends with a Pres. or Vice President, there is no single source that can provide such a range of rumors or insider news. Maybe he has befriended 20 developers at Nintendo, and they are all willing to talk. I don't know, but I think he is just a suspicious dude who seems to really enjoy the limelight.

So...an NOA treehouse employee tweeted this thread.

Uh.....?

what the fuck's going on?

They're laughing at us and our obsessing over a well made physical fake. The images of it being on were probably just taking the base hardware and then photoshopping an image onto them, or possibly making a second "screen" with a photoshopped image on it that could be interchangable with the dark screen they use here

How can anyone think this when Sony is clearly showing that a market for a traditional game console is alive just as much as it ever was
Exactly. A market of about 100m people worldwide over a 5 year period. One that Sony owns completely. One that Sony only lost for a few years because of a surprisingly good MS console and the cultural phenomenon of Wii Sports.

Why in the world would Nintendo go back into market? How many generational losses should they incur trying to out-Sony the PlayStation? It's a dumb idea and while I'm not sure the alternative is viable, at least it's more realistic than taking back the traditional gaming crown from Sony.

I wonder what Nintendo is going for if this is to be the actual controller. Maybe different games will have and utilize different numbers of digital buttons? I'm most curious about how comfortable this controller will feel when using it.

I know I'm very late at this. I have two concerns, controller size (worried that I might get a lot of cramps) and haptic buttons. That's if it's real.

I'm very excited to see final product and see what Nintendo have up in their sleeves.

Why Why Why? Why the fk can't they just stop fking with the controllers. Just release a decently powerful console with a normal controller, Make good games, and Profit. Its not that hard. Its like console design team has the task of making something unique. No one wants unique. Thats why everyone has iphones. They just do their job, they work. Nintendo's philosophy is sabotage their own sh** then try to profit?

I hope Nintendo found a way to recreate substantial tactile feedback on that screen to simulate button presses, or this controller is officially worthless for me for 99% of the genres I play. There has yet to ever be a device for which touch was a suitable replacement for a button press.

For Nintendo to be bold enough to take off all the face buttons, I believe that has be a secondary feature.

There are many indie developers in Sweden who've done Nintendo games, mainly Wii U games, but some on 3DS as well. There are a couple of Finnish developers as well, such as Frozenbyte.

However, one obvious Swedish developers to get a devkit would be Mojang, but the most obvious developer would be Image & Form. Image & Form has solitary trees outside their office.

But they're kinda not supposed to do that.

Fake controller confirmed then :( Probably the entire Treehouse team, even Reggie, are laughing loads while reading all the meltdowns and rage in this thread.

I dont think they are laughing. They are likely frustrated with these fakes being treated as real...especially now. NCL is definitely fuming.

If you're bringing up ARTPOP don't let me bring up how bad #SLEEPTALK is. This isn't the place for that.

Nah I just find it funny how stans of Gags and Ninty are thinking they are on a verge of a massive comeback despite their previous eras and current methods showing no signs that they have learned from their mistakes

there is really nothing to back up your "Nintendo is winning" but stan I guess

Wait,I looked at one of the patient links that was posted here. This is actually pretty cool how it works. Tthe buttons are raised from within in a screen, so they still act like traditionally buttons, but just deformable inside the screen. That is awesome!

Was this really leaked by a The Division Dev?

Nintendo will know anyway, they'll have their dev kits numbered say 1-200 with Dev a) getting 1-10, Dev b) getting 11-20 etc.

Edit: Like Y2Kev said, where is the proof this was from Massive?

You guys DO realize a NOA employee WOULD say it's fake, right? That doesn't mean it's actually fake; it could just be them trying to conceal the truth of the matter. Companies have had employees do this before, especially in gaming.

I'm sure it has been discussed, but once again this will be a console with one primary controller... I can't imagine connecting 2-4 of these to a single unit. And I have a hard time imagining NX supporting WiiMotes again.

Edit: bottom of page... :/

Do I believe a guy tweeting someone elses' words

Or literally multiple pictures from multiple sources

Occam's Razor, duders. This shit is real.

It's been verified that no photoshopping occurred with either fake.
