NX Controller Rumor [Up5: Original was fake, and thus this is too]

Anyone not excited about this is lying to themselves.

I think it looks garbage honestly. Nintendo needs to go back to traditional controls.

Think what you want, but Nintendo isn't built on innovation. It's built on powerful franchises that transcend the medium, like Super Mario Bros and Zelda (especially the former). I can assure you that if the NX has only this controller (no buttons), it will crash and burn.

treehouse members are on the low end on the company totem pole. they wouldn't know as much as we do anyway.

Treehouse members also handle localization and marketing, so they probably would have an idea of what the system looks like. Unless you think NoA hasn't even begun to start thinking about how they'll market the system in the US. You'd need some sort of marketing strategy ready by the reveal, which means people there would have to know what they're marketing earlier. And a reveal is almost certainly happening between April and e3

Wait,I looked at one of the patient links that was posted here. This is actually pretty cool how it works. Tthe buttons are raised from within in a screen, so they still act like traditionally buttons, but just deformable inside the screen. That is awesome!

Greatest controller of our time.

That design looks so shit that for Nintedno's sake it better be fake or else they are going to have a hard time with their next gen console.

That sounds like absolutely nothing that I want to play around with lol.

Nintendo needs to go back to the console archetype that nearly killed them in the first place. Ok.

Is the ride over? Can I get off? plz?

I'm willing to ignore GI claiming the design matching what they heard.
I don't even care whether or not that IS how the controller ends up looking, I just need a breather.

If this has all been fake...

This is incredible...

It also makes me think there really are no insiders for Nintendo on these boards. Seems like they could have shut this all down. Maybe they just wanted to watch it burn I guess.

I'm afraid now.

I played Twilight Princess on the GC back then, and I'm glad my first experience with the game wasn't with the Wiimote. While they got sword motion right with Skyward Sword, in TP is really wasn't as good.

I was willing to skip Zelda U and play it on the NX, but this no-button controller has me worried I might end up ruining my most anticipated Zelda in decades if the haptic feedback on the controller is not perfect from the get-go.

Remember, the Wiimote needed the Motion + accessory to make it work like it should have been since the start. So I'm worried this controller will have a 'lesser' haptic feedback that will not work or feel 100% right from the start.

The NX went from day 1 to a wait and see approach. Hopefully E3 reactions will bring good news.

So a fake? If that's the case, sounds like good news for Nintendo. While it would have been a radical departure from the more traditional layout, I'm not sure touchpad tech is there yet to wipe out the need for physical buttons on a controller.

I eagerly await Big N revealing this exact same controller at E3 in a few months.
