Hats off. Master level trolling.

Now Nintendo will be like "Hey at least it's not that"

...

"Haha, just kidding you fools, it's totally the no-button oval shit!"

A very impressive fake. Really enjoyed watching the process he wen't through to make it.

The only thing that worries me about this fake is that other people will see it and decide to also 3D print out fake rumored hardware in the future. Were it'll only become more and more difficult to distinguish real leaks to printed fakes.
It's something these companies might be grateful for in a way, in that the real thing can more easily be obsfucated amidst a crowd of fakes. Though they want to manage expectations and not have weird things keep coming up out of nowhere.

I'm just pleased to hear that there is still a chance that the NX will have something a little more conventional physical interface-wise.

Amazing amount of effort though. Can imagine the smile they've had for the last couple of days.

Actually, its about gullability in gaming journalism.

This needs more love.

:O

If there was a gaffer hall of fame you deserve to be in it. One of the duo who managed to fool the world.
Not enough praise in the world either for the dedication you put into this. Well played. This has probably been one of my favorite times on gaf ;)

Can someone explain the tree thing? I just dismissed it and never went back to that thread. Now it's gotten too big to read through.

I have to admit, I was also fooled by the 'leak'. This is some really impressive work, anyone getting mad is just being unsportsmanlike.

I'm sorry if my tone looks harsh, the guy made an outstanding work and I definitely had fun in that thread. I just don't like this way of doing things.

Ah, okay. Yeah, some true words. Maybe it wasn't the right thing to do but in the end it teached us not to believe everything and to start directly shitting on a company.
And we all had a lot of fun and the controller was true. And by true, I mean false. It's all lies. But they're entertaining lies. And in the end, isn't that the real truth? The answer is: No.

Well, there's Nintendo 64's, Gamecube's, Wii's, Wii 2's...

Nobody had any problem with handling a game on the N64, the GC Pad is rememberrd as one of the best ever, the Wii put millions of people into gaming...so I doubt Nintendo did much wrong. Maybe the gamepad was a little bit troublesome but everybody i know in real life is okay with it. ;)

Tree reflections on an object next to the controller. GAF went full CSI mode and tried to pinpoint where in the world this was taking place.

For those of you who thought it looked good, you might want to check how indoctrinated you are by the nintendo brand.

It's amazing how huge these threads got.

Say what you will about Nintendo's recent struggles, NeoGAF is still thirsty as hell for new Nintendo hardware. I still believe they have an audience if they get the hardware right.

What does "right" means in this context? I'm not sure to be honest.

Hah, amazing. Well done man.

For those of you who thought it looked good, you might want to check how indoctrinated you are by the nintendo brand.

Your comment is super dumb. But i think you realise that.

Anyway, the design didn't look good or logical, but i still like the idea of the customisable buttons/ icons.

It's amusing how much traction this thing got, good show.

If you say so, but this:

is like a concern troll, a ridiculous one at that. "Big misunderstandings with investors", Christ wept.

I was exagerating the concept to have people understand my point. If "salt" means that I liked the controller and now I feel mad because it's not real, that's not what I am. If it means that I had to discuss something for days with gaffers and even with collegues on my website (that only posted NoE semi-statement btw) to then find out it was all a prank, well I'm probably salty. I don't like lies, unilateral pranks, and troll encouraging.

I still think it looks good and love the concept. It has nothing to do with the Nintendo brand. It's also sexy as hell.

The only thing I would change would maybe be some transparent physical face buttons and a slightly more rectangular design..

I'll watch the video when I get home since I can't at work. But I guess we learned lying about things in the industry aren't bannable anymore though

This is the beginning of a new era of "leaks", only gonna get wilder from here. 3D printers changing the game.

Tbh, the flood of fake leaks will be something I look forward to, because if the real deal is among them, there will still be that element of surprise at the official unveiling even if we've seen it before. That was really the only reason I wanted this to be fake, so that Nintendo could still surprise me.

No, yours is... so there! *puts fingers in ears*

Calling something dumb doesn't make it dumb.
