English in the language of commerce. It's commonly spoken amongst the educated class in mainline Europe, even though it may not be an official language.

Seems like an honest question, honestly. Not everyone travels and a quick look up shows that English is not an official knowledge there. I only know from this from traveling and interviewing with companies based in Europe.
