Quantum Break PC performance thread

So, how many times more powerful does your PC need to be to run this game in about the same state as an XBOX one? Seems that if you only have a rig 3 times more powerful, it won't cut it.

Screw these shitty ports.

Well, the game on XBO runs mostly at 720p with 4xMSAA and 30FPS with drops. As always, 750TI should probalby paly it just fine at those details, so how is it a shitty port?

So let's say if there is a driver issue and the game would run better on AMD hardware, we blame UWP?

Not saying that's the case but it's not that easy, no?

We blame UWP for obvious issues which are UWP related - in this case these would be the lack of vsync off option and proper gsync/freesync support.

And while the rest of issues aren't really UWP related they still are related to MS politics - as in forcing the game to use DX12 only, ignoring mGPU support and being sold in WinStore only.

I encountered solid color freezes and constant driver crashes on both .51 and .72, lots of users on both gaf and nvidia official forums reported same issues too.

There's something wrong with your system then as all 364 drivers work perfectly fine here. And I don't really see "lots of users" reporting that anywhere.

There you have it folks. It works perfectly fine on dr_rus' PC. All driver issues that you're having with 364.XX, NV drivers in general, are bullshit and don't exist.

Yeah, we can blame UWP, or MS the publisher, but they are somewhat tantamount to the same thing.

Were this one console port in isolation, it wouldn't necessarily indicate a trend, but that's not the case.

You can also say the same thing to those KOEI TECMO ports on Steam.
If a game is identical to console quality & performance, it doesn't mean that it's not a bad port. PC games need to scale much higher than that.

The Titan X is an absolute monster. I didn't realize this was news.

lol.......considering it will set you back 3 xbox ones and 3 copies of quantum break....I hope so. I'll stick with my 970 till shit gets solved and enjoy it for now on the xbox.

Wait....3 bones....3 copies or get one copy to run on a Titan X

This was there plan all along!!!

Ok so there've been three people so far that are saying it has serious performance issues and one guy with top of the line HW streaming the game and still having texture loading and frame pacing problems. How many different people need to say the game runs poorly for you to think it's an acceptable conclusion exactly? It's not like the Win 10 store has a fantastic track record at this point so I'm failing to see why the wise course of action here is to give them the benefit of the doubt. They've proven multiple times they deserve no benefit of the doubt in fact they deserve utmost skepticism.

responses show.....hes heard reports and hasn't play it

But i'm still going to take this L for my PC....god damn it

I dont know why anyone with an 970 will end up playing on the One. Worst case scenario you can still cap it at 30 fps and have better graphics. And thats IS really the worst case scenario.

Event Batman AK was running decently when capped at 30fps on release, there's no reason to go consoles having an high-end graphics card.

Where are you getting that from?

The xbone is 720p at 30fps, we don't have PC benchmarks yet.

If you've been paying attention it works perfectly fine on lots of PCs even in this thread. On each NV's driver release there are people reporting stability issues with no proof of them being driver related. So if a driver is working fine for lots of people I tend to assume that for those machines where it doesn't it is an assortment of local issues and not the driver's issue per se - especially when the reports are claiming wildly different stuff from freezes to bricking as it is the case with .72 driver.

Why do you link me to a thread about a revoked driver version which had an installer issue while the driver itself worked perfectly stable on machines which was able to install it? What's this thread has to do with .72 driver?

Same goes the other way around, if system of a user is stable and then its not after a driver update I dont see why you will put the blame on user's system.

For me, 7 pages of users complaining about one driver version clearly states that there's something wrong, wether ill be affected by it or not if I decide to update.

Basically, unless the game has multiplayer capabilities then its just wherever your friends are.

The reports were in reference to issues UWP has with gsync not the issues with the game. Context is important.

Not really. A lot of things can happen alongside a driver install. This is the usual mistake in such reports - people are blaming the driver because this is the obvious change they've done themselves while the source of the problem may lie elsewhere.

Did you even read these pages? See above.

Certainly that's solely the drivers fault :p

Fuck this, I was looking forward to the game, hope it gets fixed.

Well.....we know Gsync and any SLI setup are no beuno for any UWP games.......Well I guess I could be happy I got the game for free and can play it whenever the $400 equivalent of the Titan X comes out in about 5 years lol

We got drivers every couple of weeks man, if there's an outrage on a specific version I tend to be careful.

Anyhow I fail to see how you cant accept that your experience is yours and the fact that it works for you doesnt automatically the rest of the users unable to maintain their pc or troubleshoot driver problems.

Recently I havent had any problems myself, although im using the infamous geforce experience, but I wont disregard feedback from other users.

Oh, I accept that. What I don't accept is just blindly blaming the driver for all issues happening on your PC with no proof that it's even a driver's fault. Chances are that if a driver is working fine for the majority of users - then there are no issues with it. This is the situation with R364 drivers - they are working fine for the majority of users and they're no less "stable" than any other version released previously. The 362.00 driver which is regarded as "stable" now for some reason had the exact same reports appearing on it after it's release in the same expected places. Whether you believe some random forum posts about new drivers being the reason for a third world war or not is your personal decision obviously.

So in relation to the game at hand I would suggest any NV user to install the 364.72 drivers which were released for the game as this is likely to improve their experience playing Quantum Break. There are no proof that the issues reported are even driver related.

Just whatfuckingever, keep denying. Ignore list you go.

Great reply! It's you who's in denial here, mate.

Remedy actually did an amazing job at throwing us a working XO emulator. At this point you should have an idea why SLI doesn't work.

Can't we all just move these Nvidia discussions to Nvidia threads instead?
I'm sure there are plenty of them here in neogaf.

So the game should be available at around 2pm GMT today from the W10 store. Will pop back into the thread after then to see if it's as bad as everyone is making out.

What happened here, lol.

I really never had any issues when using a AMD card lol, I went from AMD to Nvidia and it was the same experience honestly....just one gets driver updates more frequent then the other.

But to the waiting list it goes and I'll check back later whether or not to lug my PC to my big screen to play.

So it's just convenient that many multi monitor uses just suddenly started getting the same solid colour freeze ups under the same circumstances after upgrading the driver?

Ok.

Looks like performance is a bit unpredictable but at least it's encouraging things have evened out for him.

Just catching up.. it's still showing as unavailable in the Windows store. Ha anyone among the "general public" actually gotten it yet, or is it still just early/press/review copies?

Apparently it's supposed to come out in an hour. Can't preload or even access the product page on Windows Store until then.
