No Fat Drake in Uncharted 4

Can we at least get doughnut Sully?

This is bullshit. I know it's just a dumb skin, but, this makes me a little worried this entry will be tonally inconsistent with the rest of the series.

Like, I'm just trying to have some fun, dawg. Don't need to go on a super emotional journey. Let me be fat as shit if I want to be.

I'm pretty sure every preview so far totally dismisses that fear. They talked about it and decided they didn't want to put it in, it's really not a big deal.

That explanation doesn't make much sense to me. Laughing at who's expense?
Really?

While im sure many just like the fact that Drake is different when he is 'doughnut drake', you are basically fat shaming by including the character model.

Yes he isnt real, but obviously Neil feels that including that character skin just encourages the idea that someone being fat is funny or making fun of it is valid which could make some people believe the same thing goes for people in real life.

While some may disagree with that idea, its also completely fair that Neil feels that way and has decided to do his part and not include a potentially harmful stereotype.

you want such character depth as "haha look burgers" instead? you ask for too much!

I'll accept nothing less than "I'm stuck in a window, go on without me". At least let me think I can be the victim of circumstance. People ain't for windows.

I don't think you can extrapolate the removal of an optional skin to the entire game being dark and gloomy with ND being fun suckers.

Then again, I've been on media blackout lately so I don't know how the new previews are depicting the games tone.

Good call! Next someone please make a series of videos about tropes vs. heavyset people in gaming. Fat Frequency.

I'd rather no representation over another "haha look doughnuts" character. Please.

But it's a game character. It's not a real person. We have characters wearing mini bikinis as armors and tits bigger than my head, and that's not discrimination?

All of a sudden your character decides to get fat and its discrimination? I've gotten fat in my life. Evilore has gotten fat in his life. Everyone gains and losses weight in their life. However, there is a digital character that can't be fat?

Killing thousands of people is okay, but getting fat is crossing the line and laughing at someone's expense? Okay.

Totally. I'm sure this is what they are tryna avoid.
Look at the kerfuffle already with Laura Bailey playing a black character, people can be sensitive to a lot of things.

Hopefully ND have other jokey alternatives to doughnut Drake in the game.

Yeah maybe they'll have Toon Drake again instead or something, a reference to Crash's body shape like in UC1.

As long as character skins are in the game at all, along with the other cheats/tweaks we've gotten in UC1/UC2 I'm fine.

I would be incredibly disappointed if they went the TLOU route with respect to skins and it's just Drake with different clothes and no way to actually change from playing as Drake... HOPEFULLY it's not like that.

I can't even imagine how good those realtime cutscenes would have been.

Drake coming out of retirement, that scene where he meets Sam from PSX. Gosh, it would have been good.

What's this decides nonsense? "We made him fat because it's funny" like totally bulldozes whatever your post was meant to mean. Namedropping Evilore? The dark devil ain't gonna save you.

Cartoon Drake was hilarious, shame that he wasn't in later games.

It's an optional skin, man.

Whatever, you all can have your serious game in a serious game world with a serious treasure hunting killing spree building emotional man with marriage and brother issues. I miss Amy Hennig already.

"I didn't want to have a laugh at someone’s expense," adding that, "I thought we’d matured beyond that."

How many people are we going to murder in Uncharted 4 while bantering and cracking jokes?

Discrimination isn't a zero sum game. One isn't mutually exclusive to another.

Huh, Neil does look like Vandal Savage, doesn't he?

I'm surprised, since they went hard with the Doughnut Drake support in the Nathan Drake Collection, with the Fat and the Furious challenges across all of the games.

And honestly, I think it's a bad move, especially if it's already been developed. It's not a clever addition, but it's also just a bit of fun. It's worth having for the sake of series legacy alone. Hopefully they change their minds post-launch.

Drake's fatness is juxtaposed with his adventurous actions and it's supposed to be funny. That's kind of laughing at the expense of a fat guy. I don't think it's unreasonable that someone on the dev side doesn't want to do that, not out of fear of reprisal from the fat community, but because they actually, internally, don't want to target fat people as a joke.

In all the talk of "censorship" and "SJWs" and "easily offended" this and that, it seems like people forget that some people actually feel, of their own accord, that it's wrong to hurt people's feelings for no good reason.

Also, "but it's not a real person" is like the weakest retort possible. "Oh, this super racist caricature of a black person is just a cartoon! What's the big deal?"

But you peoples always be the same. Act like it's ok cos they ain't got any realness, than act like they got autonomy to choose. You cray.

Let's get serious. 10/10, The Last of Uncharted.

Well, that's good to know. I'm on media blackout, so, I didn't read many of them.

The trailers have been super gloomy as well, though.

I kinda get what they're saying, but I can't take the devs of Uncharted seriously when they say they're afraid of putting something like this in. How many foreign people will Drake wipe out this game? 2000?
