I don't see it in account settings at the webstore...
Here you are!Woah!!! Good going, Sony. Do it, soon!
Looks like they jumped the gun releasing the update? Maintenance that was suppose to take place earlier this week has been rescheduled:
Routine maintenance and improvements for PlayStationNetwork will be performed for approximately 2 hours on 04/21/2016, 1:30 AM to 04/21/2016, 3:30 AM (Your Local Timezone).
What exactly is two-step authentification? How does it work?
Two-factor authentication (also known as 2FA or 2-Step Verification) is a technology patented in 1984[1] that provides identification of users by means of the combination of two different components. These components may be something that the user knows, something that the user possesses or something that is inseparable from the user. A good example from everyday life is the withdrawing of money from a cash machine. Only the correct combination of a bank card (something that the user possesses) and a PIN (personal identification number, something that the user knows) allows the transaction to be carried out. 2FA is ineffective against modern threats,[2] like ATM skimming, phishing, and malware etc. Two-factor authentication is a type of multi-factor authentication.

you haven't been using 2step ever?
Everytime I have used it for something it sends a text message to your mobile phone with a code. Then you input that code on the website or app to verify the account.
When you log in for the first time on a new computer, you need to enter a verification code from your email or your phone.
If you have a Google or Microsoft account, you should go turn that on right now. It's great for security. Steam too, but I think Valve forced it on for everyone at one point.
10 years late, but neat.
If they could make the PS3s store not shite now, that would be great, but I'm guessing they'll see that as too much effort for a near EoL console.
I see. I have a gmail account. How would the two-step authentification work if I don't have a cell phone?
I don't have a cell phone plan.

How about a tablet, then? The code doesn't have to be sent as a text message. That's just one option. You could also use one of several apps to generate the code, like Google's official Authenticator app.
If you got a smartphone without a Sim card and phone plan you could download the Gmail Authenticator App instead. You don't need a Phone Contract. A cheap smartphone iw all you need and an Internet connection. When logging in on a new device you would input the code from the App to be able to get in. Then you could choose to not require the code again for that particular phone/PC/laptop/whatever.I don't have a cell phone plan.

Couldn't you also install Android-x86 on a virtual machine, then install the Authenticator on that? Zero cost to you and 20 minute inital setup. If you got a smartphone without a Sim card and phone plan you could download the Gmail Authenticator App instead. You don't need a Phone Contract. Personally I use texts the phone app is limited to that particular phone so if you lose it it's a bit awkward. You can receive a text elsewhere if need be. You also get like 10 codes you can make a note of in case of emergencies.
It might sound awkward but in fact it's very easy and quick to use. Makes you feel so much more at ease in terms of security and it's something I highly recommend and wanted on PSN for a long time
Same but this is still good because there is less chance of your account getting hijacked.I'm still only using prepaid codes tho
