To me it seems Nintendo is taking a total reboot for their next system.
They want to be ready when they are ready. Wii U was such a rushed product.
I'm disappointed too by 2017 (NX and Zelda), but it will probably be for the better.

I'm really worried about what this might mean for Nintendo. People won't make a $300-$400 console purchase in March if they bought a PS4.5/XB1.5 in December.
Now if those .5 consoles launch next Spring (which kind of makes sense seeing as Sony might want to push PSVR this December, not sure about MS) then it'll be the exact same situation.
It all depends on what the new concept is. If it's something unique, easily understandable (so not just another touch-screen controller) and beneficial then I can see it doing well, a USP like that would be better than just "improved graphics"

This is true, but if this really is a "new concept", revealing the system and not letting anyone get close to it OR the games that would be played on it seems pretty baffling.

Gawd damn it! The hope of seeing NX at E3 was like the only thing keeping the hype going. They can't keep stringing us along they need to reveal something so we even have a clue of what it is. >_<

This is wild, the NX must be on some other level if they're that confident to miss a holiday launch.
Wouldn't be the first time he's lied. I can't see a console launching in March, and I can't see Wii U lasting until Holiday 2017. A handheld that connects to a TV and replaces both the handheld and the console is the most logical conclusion until proven otherwise.

No NX at E3....what the fuck am I reading. Why? Are we just going to pretend like Zelda isn't getting an NX port when it so clearly is? Why? E3 is less than a year away from the console's launch.

To be fair, Sony and Microsoft did not reveal PS4 and XBO at E3. I do understand the idea, however, that skipping E3 may hurt the company (since there's no E3 between E3 2016 and March 2017).
I assume Nintendo will hold their own conference like Sony/Microsoft, but beyond that, I don't know.

The ONLY way this is a good decision is if the reveal is BEFORE E3. Otherwise, I don't know what they're thinking.

My hype for this year's E3 is halfway dead right now.
The NX version of Zelda is confirmed and releasing at the same time.

I understand everyone who feels like it's better for Nintendo to delay the system to March if it isn't ready for the Holiday, but if that is the case then that is a massive failure for them. Console manufacturers (including Nintendo) have been getting consoles out in the fall reliably for the past two decades. If they couldn't plan or develop well enough to get that done with NX, then that's a black eye for them.

I think people might be overlooking the possibility that Nintendo plans on releasing info on the NX in a series of presentations throughout late this year, after E3.
The way i see it, if Sony and Microsoft plan on revealing their consoles at E3, Nintendo can avoid having to compete with them for attention, and instead create hype with separate competition free presentations.
