iOS Gaming April 2016 | Fool's Gold

hot hot hanuman-on-man action
Be prepared for a new and exciting take on Clash of Clans.

They said in the PR it will be something a little more casual and I doubt they will go premium.

yeah, lets not get carried away here. you're not getting a full, premium FE game on your phone.

the best we can hope for is that it's NOT full of gatcha f2p garbage.

Animal Crossing, on the other hand, can be stripped down perfectly into an f2p phone game.

I would love a F2P Animal Crossing that let's us connect with each other online. Buying items for your friends, decorating citizens houses, and the almost traditional gameplay like fishing, collecting, catching bugs etc.

Huge Civil War update dropped today for Contest of Champions for those few on GAF that care.

Still my most played mobile game.

So War Tortoise is super disappointing. I've like some of Foursakens previous work but WT is too utterly brain dead and repetive for me to draw any enjoyment from it.

No online is kind of a bummer for pathfinder. Do you make a new character every game? Or is there some persistence? Also, how difficult is it solo? Is there any kind of rogue like elements?

Pretty sure the fire emblem thing will be the CCG they have Fire EMblem 0 in Japan physically. Also they don't release their games in the largest mobile markets so I will forever remain salty.

Lums, one of my favorite puzzlers and from the devs of Perfect Paths & Chameleon Run, got its first major update since 2013. Eight new levels, performance improvements, all IAP removed, current devices support, etc

I highly recommend checking it out if you haven't before

Here are my 3-year old impressions (man, I've been posting in these threads for a long time, huh?)
Despite the generic looking screenshots, Lums is surprisingly good. You have complete control over your "Lums" so the game becomes a physics puzzler, not a fire-and-forget catapult game like Angry Birds. The graphics are quite pleasing and the light mechanic adds another layer of complexity to the puzzle aspect. Unlike Angry Birds, where you can destroy pigs by collapsing debris on them, here you have to be a bit more mindful of your surroundings because fallen debris may actually cover and protect the vampires.

Furthermore your Lums are more varied than the usual AB-esque projectiles. One is for smashing debris, another can fly through glass and becomes a light source when placed on a surface, another reverses gravity, one switches blocks to glass, another to stone.

Yes, finally! Damn, on the bus now; downloading as soon as I get home

Any impressions yet?

Couldn't play as much as I planned to, but first impressions are really positive.
I found at first the tutorial a bit confusing expecially regarding the game flow, but after a bit (continuing playing) everything is much more clear.
I really like the polish and sleekness of the app.

Awesome!

Also not sure if I'm seeing what the fuss is about War Tortoise. Fun game but not really living up to the hype IMO.

Pathfinder is awesome and pretty much exactly the game I was looking for. The server issues are annoying though, and I'm not sure about their store prices. I would buy the bundle, but then I'm not sure what the gold would be for.... I like having some a meta progression to buy/unlock things, I'm just not sure what the best way to do it is.

Like I would totally buy all the adventures and one more hero.... And then use my 3 person party to earn gold to unlock other characters. But you can't do that... At least as far as I can tell... You gotta either buy everything or grind for gold for everything. And the servers are jacked right now so earning gold is unreliable and quest mode doesn't work so hope you like grinding the first adventure over and over and maybe getting gold for it. I'm sure that stuff will be fixed in a couple days though. And the game itself is amazing.

Tormentum already had a price drop to $2.99. Not a huge fan of point and click games but might pick it up.

Dog Mendonca looks good too.

Decisions, decisions....

Editor's Notes too, so I guess this'll be an Editor's Choice soon?

Looks great, and it came out of nowhere. Never even heard of the game before

Totally flew under my radar, found a few articles online though. It's already Editor's choice here in France and I have no excuse since the game is made by a French studio.

Bought it and it's absolutely lovely. You control the egg (or egz?) by flinging him and everytime he lands, his shells cracks a little. You must then gather little orbs to get back some health (and also three star the levels).

It seems to expand quite a lot afterwards with boss battles and more.

The video is amazing, has GameCenter, premium, lovely art and premise... buying now!

Bought Egz... Is Editors Choice in Spain as well... the game is unique. Seems very special. One thing I like is that once your egz is gone you loose all your customization and abilities, but you can revive it for a lot of XP or create a fresh Egz. Controls by flinging and its done well. You can heal it by collecting things scattered on the levels. Everything screams awesomeness and quality. Loving it, a lot. So far, absolutely worth it. The world of Egz feels alive.

Hey Frost, did you end up getting Goo Saga?

No, just woke up from a nightmare... I am suffering from back pain (a muscle went wrong)... Been in bed for a few days under heavy medicine. Today I am starting to feel better and awake. Will be here in bed for several days. Can move my arms and legs now but cant stand up for the time being. Will recover in a week according to doctors. But its been hard.

That said... is Goo Saga good? I want to know first before buying it.

Damn. Sorry to hear about that. I've had three back surgeries myself so know how painful those kind of things can be

And, yeah, Goo Saga is excellent. Thought I remember you had been interested in it when I got the Android version. Great polished platformer with a bit of Leo's Fortune feel. Long, varied and multi-path levels, boss fights and lots of replayability. Highly recommend it.

Hope you feel better!

Anyone try Runaway Toad yet?

That, Egz, Tormentum and Dog Mendonca are all competing for my money right now. Probably will get Egz at least.

My problems were bulging discs. I actually still am taking some meds for chronic back pain but nothing like the sciatica pain I have had in the past.

Guess if yours is muscular -- probably ice/heat and maybe some light excercise to stop it from tightening up. But your doctors would know better than me for what you are specifically going through.

Egz is every reason why I love iOS gaming <3

Thats what I been told... and also: do nothing, play a lot, sleep a lot

Okay, Redcon is awesome. The pay structure is like their other game Reaper. $2.99 for the base game, and then $4.99 or $5.99 for the base game plus extras. The game is kind of like XCOM base building, plus FTL. You build your artillery base and then manage your weapons and soliders. Weapons have different shot types, you can send out airships to drop assault troops onto the enemy base, and there's a ton of weapons, rooms, and upgrades to choose from. Very polished

Egz is soooooooooo silly but quite fun. I'm not sure I like how they die and you have to spend XP to revive, especially since you can (or have to) replay/grins the earlier levels for XP. Really clever game though.

I just wish I had an iOS device right now so I could buy KOTOR on sale. Might pick up either a 128gb iPhone 6S or a 64gb iPad Air 2 or iPad Pro.

How is the dual window feature working on iPad? Can I play a game on the bottom half and have a chat app open on the top half at the same time?

Just finished Kero blaster and I'm in the mood for another good action platformer with good controls. Already played Goblin Sword and Sword of Xolan a while back so is there any I'm missing?
