Has anyone tried stranger of sword city in vita? How is it?

I just got it, not very far in. It's a dungeon crawler with nice looking art, this is some of the most appealing visual design I've seen in a very long time. The soundtrack is also mind blowing so far, way more high budget than I was expecting. But it's also pretty hard, my main character got wiped in each of the first two fights. This is a hardcore rpg for hardcore people who like traditional (i.e.. Wizardry-style pen & paper derived) crpgs - lots of hands-on character creation for your whole party, stats, mapping etc.

I cancelled my pre-order for that. Too many good games I wanted to buy this month. Knowing my luck it will immediately become the rarest game ever.

just finished nihilumbra, it was sitting on my plus backlog for some times, so i decide to play it.
finished it in 2-3 hours, it was fun...until i start playing void mode.
the loading screen is too long, maybe because i am using 64GB Vita memory?
i heard the less Vita card, the faster the card.

fuck that mode.
time to delete that game.

Nihilumbra was cool. I even paid for it. A modest game that might not be too awesome for most, but I really liked it for what it is. I didn't get far in void mode either, though. I could have stuck to it, but there's plenty of other stuff I needed to play.

Some info for the US version of God Eater, taken from a Bandai Namco livestream.

NA Vita GE2 is indeed digital only, some people in the chat asked WHY there is no physical release but the question guy never brought that up.

PS4 day one edition is $59.99, Vita GE2 is $39.99, Steam is $49.99 for both GE:R and GE2. It seems like Vita is the only one that doesn't the get Resurrection bundle, but Resurrection on its own is $19.99, so buying them both is literally just the same price as PS4's day one edition.

PS4 and Vita are cross save/play.

They didn't have any info on whether or not your save can carry over from GE:R to GE2.

No content has been cut from the games, "just a slight edit here and there" to maintain the rating but nothing has been omitted or is missing.

is there any good analog stick grips for the Vita slim?
because i always hear bad things about them (too close to the X button)

all the videos on youtube showing old Vita model.

Is there are still a place in europe where you can get a brand new Vita with the OLED screen for a decent price? A friend of mine would like to have one but it seems its almost impossible to track one. And he did not want a japanese version. Even though it's probably the easiest and cheapest way. ~180€ from Amazon JP.

Alright I need help Vitagaf. Just bought myself a 32GB memory card in anticipation for Zero Escape 3 and Odin Sphere.

In the meantime I want something that isn't story heavy, has no PC version, on the shorter side and has zero grinding. Kind of limiting I know, but what can you do? As of now I have:

-Muramasa
-Dragon's Crown
-Dangonronpa
-Soul Sacrifice: Delta
-Virtue's Last Reward
-Steins;Gate
-A LOT of PSP games

Games I'm eyeing:

-Severed: I've played my share of dungeon crawlers, but the swiping looks like it gets repetitive.

-Atelier Ayesha: May as well start with the first game in the Dusk trilogy. I've never played one of these, but the time management makes it seem like there isn't any grind. Thoughts from someone who has played them?

-Brandish: Its an older Falcolm game, so odds are its good. Just don't know if its worth diving into for a completionist run.

Heres what I'm skipping intentionally:

Persona 4: I didn't like Persona 3 at all aside from the music, don't care to try this one.

-Trials of Cold Steel: I have First Chapter on PC, want to get through that arc before I consider Trails of Cold Steel. Plus, I don't like the idea of jumping into this one until the third game is confirmed for a US release because fuck cliffhanger endings.

-Celcetta: Ys Origin and Felghana are a couple of the best games ever made. Seven took the series in a direction I didn't care for nearly as much. It is still good, but nowhere near the two games I mentioned. Given that this is more of the same I'll pass on it for right now.

Thoughts?

Here are some non story-intensive games that I've enjoyed on Vita:

Velocity 2x - really awesome shooter/2d action-platformer hybrid with great controls.

Axiom Verge, Hotline Miami - two indie games that are arguable best on Vita.

Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles - PSP remake of an amazing Classicvania, with Symphony of the Night as a pack-in.

Proteus - "walking simulator" (hate that term) with a really cool, relaxing absorbing vibe.

Alien Crush - TurboGrafx-16 game, one of the best digital pinball games ever.

Guacamelee - there's the occasional cinema but it's mostly just a really well made metroidvania that looks amazing on Vita.

Lumines: Electronic Symphony - Lumines has always been a must on a Sony portable.

Where Is My Heart? - a PS Mini puzzle plaftormer with a really cool vibe and a neat hook that has you navigating a fractured screen.

Wipeout 2048 - Perhaps the pinnacle of Wipeout...and likely the last one we'll ever get.

Stranger of Sword City - this just came out, it's a dungeon rpg that I'm really digging; it's really tough but light on story.

Ah crap, I forgot about that :/

There's a lot more I could recommend too but "not on PC" excludes a lot of them...

Thanks for the suggestions. I said no PC because a fair amount of Vita indie games tend to come much later then the PC version. By that time I've bitten on most of them.

There isn't really much grind in Atelier games generally—although the time management means you can miss things. Ayesha is pretty lenient with its times, though. I found it to be a fairly relaxing, leisurely paced story. There are some super-bosses late in the game which might give some trouble, but most of the 'grind' is in creating good items via alchemy to use in battle, rather than simply levelling-up.

Basically, I recommend it. I'm thinking of getting Escha&Logy Plus too, and Shallie, when it releases.

I should probably note that a lot of Atelier fans really dislike Ayesha. I really like it, personally, but that's mostly because I vastly prefer the Dusk setting to that of the earlier Arland trilogy.

Yeah, I can vouch for its non-repetitive character. They keep building mechanics, it gets puzzle-y quickly, and has style for dayyyys.

There are layered mechanics, which are nice. But for me, the moment I knew I would like the game was my first death, where I immediately respawned in the room adjacent to where I had died. That feature is awesome and was totally unexpected. So far the only negative I can find is the slightly awkward nature of being left-handed. It's a weird sense of bobbling back and forth between swiping the screen and hitting the left stick during battles.

Brandish is really good, BUT... I eventually just burned out on it. I don't really have a reason. Maybe the lack of trophies combined with it being slightly too easy for my tastes? But overall, -definitely- worth checking out. It's a dungeon crawler, extremely light on story [yeah!], etc. It's fairly light on lewt variety [you do get upgrades, but they're few and far apart and in fixed positions] unfortunately. While topdown, it plays like Grimrock -- enemies move on their own schedule, and you're locked to grid movement. It should have been my jam, but I think the lack of lewt plus being a bit too easy plus no trophies made me feel a bit underchallenged, like i was just walking towards the end combat wise [though there are puzzles and some harder bosses, etc].

I don't have the patience to check every game for a pc version, but here's some of my favs:

Crimsonland (on pc, but just in case you don't have it)
TxK (only on vita, awesome)
Rayman Legends/Origins
Super Stardust Delta (delta improves on the original imo)
Hotline Miami (best on vita imo)
Killzone Mercenary
Unit 13 (tons of missions, tons of mission variety. very slight 'budget' feel but very fun)

For some reason I just thought of a hybrid rhythm dungeon crawler where battles are performed by initiating choreographed dance routines using your party of boy/girl bands which are leveled up in a management sim minigame. Make it happen, Japan!

this thread constantly reminds me I just need a 128GB memory card
._.

I finally stopped trying to keep a bubble installed for every physical game. Just backed them up with patches/saves etc through CMA in a separate folder and deleted about 75% of them. Freed up a good 15-20 GB of breathing room to enjoy new stuff without having to play inventory Tetris every time.

Cosign both of those. Totally agree that Delta is better than it's predecessor too. I think everything just works better, and looks/sounds cooler to me.

I'll add Motorstorm RC.

It's on PS3 too, but it's a Vita game through and through for me, due to it's bite sized everything... and also excellent. Get the complete edition.

I back them up via QCMA too on my PC... but that too is taking up too much space - 119GB... and that's not ALL the games :/

Just be like me and buy physical copies of games you already own. This clears space on your memory card without compromising the look of your library. It also makes you want to cry every single day. It's a good fix!

Against all odds and reviews and everyone i have talked to i got Natural Doctrine Vita. This game is becoming quite rare in my country and i wanted to try it. Im quite surprise actually , its a nice game , very hard and sometimes unforgiving but i like it.

Also Got Atelier Escha , never tried an atelier game before , some people told me this is a good starting point and i have found quite a good deal on the limited physical edition.

Another game i bought cheap was Lost Dimension which seems interesting story wise.

Next in my wish list is Severed and will probably the first one of these games ill complete because its short and ill start playing it right away.

So i have some nice DRPG-JRPG hours to spend while im waiting for Odin Sphere.

nahh :( I'm too deep into digital to start on a physical library.
can't imagine straddling between two regions (Asia/US) to collect games from all regions :/
(I help people with it... and seeing their pain ><)

I've started doing that with some of my bigger games, like P4G. Might get MGS Collection physical soon, too.

Yeah, it's not as bad as some people make it seem.
