So I guess it really was impossible for me to avoid GoT spoilers

Jon Snow was killed in the most recent book. That event happened in the last episode of last season. He was resurrected in last night's episode. This resurrection has not occurred in a book that has been released as of yet.
So the lady in red's powers were already known? Because that was foretold really years ago.

If you were avoiding TV spoilers why on earth would you even risk going to a website dedicated for TV news and discussions? Yeah, they shouldn't straight up spoil with a headline but it happens all the time.

Always avoid TV sites and IGN if you don't want your favorite insanely popular show spoiled.

The only argument against that fact is; In the books
unless I'm misremembering Mel wasn't at Castle Black when Jon died, but had already left Stannis saying she had to take care of something.
We do know that
followers of the Lord of Light can bring people back, case in point being Thoros of Myr and Berric Dondarrion/Lady Stoneheart.

Yeah, that's a pretty douche move on TV Guide's part. I couldn't even make it to this morning without avoiding numerous articles mentioning Kit apologizing to fans. This is a show that, unfortunately, has to be watched live if you want to traverse the Internet after it's airing.

It might happen differently in the books. There are like 4 different ways it could happen. The show kind of cut out some possible avenues.

Interesting, thanks! I haven't watched a single episode of the series (waiting for it to end) but I find it fascinating.

The worst is people who don't think they're spoiling an epsiode by posting something like "OMG THAT EPISODE" or "THAT END!!!"

Non-spoiler reactions still create expectations that take away from the natural experience.

Yeah. Stuff like that happens on gaming side as well. Sometimes it is enough to just see several related thread titles to know what's going on. You just cannot escape it unless you cut your internet connection.

Also, avoiding places they sell magazines

Check out next week's Entertainment Weekly cover.

Edit: ...which is linked right above this post!

I think most every entertainment news site had the spoiler up front and center. EW, TVLine, THR, Variety, Deadline, and so on all pretty much had variants of the same declaration up on the first page. You had an impossible task, OP. Hell, even the front page of EW's magazine is this:

http://www.ew.com/sites/default/files/i/2016/05/02/gfkdaldfafsdfs.jpg

You couldn't have avoided it for long.

Wait, doesn't EW come out on Thursdays? That's fucked up.

Edit: Oh it's next week's cover.

All I know is I'm really glad I walked on eggshells for five years or whatever in order to not spoil anything for people who hadn't read the books, just to have my Facebook feed immediately overwhelmed with spoilers for post-Dance events as soon as they happened.

I don't really care because especially this particular thing was expected, but it's still funny to see how little people care about spoiling shit when the shoe is on the other foot.

Haven't seen it or heard about it but just by reading the responses in here I can already tell what it was. Assuming it's the thing that everyone who's read the books has taken as fact since before the turn of the century.

All I can say is that this is a soft blow compared to what's coming. You'll be reading headlines about Dany seizing the Iron Throne years before Martin ever puts pen to page. Or characters to DOS, whatever. It sucks, but it actually sucks so much that it's probably the most fitting end for this series.

:(

Sorry dude. FWIW, I'm appreciative of the book folks who went out of their way not to spoil things for us noobs.

Multiple websites have posted about spoilers from last night's Game of Thrones. It's downright annoying! It's only been a day and yet headlines and screencaps spoiled the big thing that happened. What's the point of even going to these sites if they don't even bother to cover up spoilers of a show that not everyone can watch live?

If you were avoiding TV spoilers why on earth would you even risk going to a website dedicated for TV news and discussions? Social Media + Entertainment news sites = no go if you want to avoid any kind of spoilers.

I was just about to post this. Now if it was spoiled on the front page of a daily newspaper then I can understand, but you don't avoid spoilers for the biggest TV show by going to TVguide. It's still a dick move on their part, though.

Hey its OK, I was expecting it and in all honesty I blame Martin more than I blame people who are just excited at the events of their favorite show.

TV Guide is still a thing that is around in 2016? Do they still send out the little books?

I got spoiled by an Entertainment Weekly headline that Google Now fed me. =/

EW was particularly bad about the whole spoiler. I remember checking the site at 11 PM EST, and it was just flooded with spoiler headlines. The first 3 articles were all about the spoiler, and it wasn't even disguised well.

To be fair, this was the obvious outcome back when Dance of Dragons released all those years ago. Just watch the rest of the TV show under the assumption that it's an alternate-universe version of GOT. If GRRM ever finishes the books, I expect them to be their own thing and separate from the events in the show anyway.

The Entertainment Weekly cover this week is making me laugh so hard

So... I guess we're going with "suck it, people not caught up?"

Clearly you're not supposed to go them......

lol That was an impossible task. No way you weren't going to be spoiled at some point. Book may not even be out until 2018 knowing Martin.

This is why I don't go on Twitter, Reddit or Twitch until after I've seen the episode. Once an episode leaks, people openly talk about it everywhere I frequent.

It'd be impossible for me to go anywhere without seeing spoilers.

How can you be spoiled? Everyone has expected his return. Maybe if you didn't watch season 5 yet..

A certain comic book movie sequel spoiler:
He's totally not going to be in Justice League.

Was trying to do the same thing. In my case, it was my own fuckin' mother who came up to me today and went, "you'll never guess what happened last night!"

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Knew it would be futile, but I held onto hope like some moron anyways.

Also, this :(

Get wrecked book readers!

Meh, I was actually expecting to enjoy seeing book readers get spoiled after the way they made my viewing a fucking NIGHTMARE the first two seasons especially. But by this point I just dont even care anymore.

My outlook: If you don't want the internet to fuck you, don't fuck with the internet. When fuckery is involved, the internet always outfuck you.

In regard to A Song Of Ice And Fire, my outlook is: abandon all hope ye who enter here. It's a tsunami of crap for those who who hold purity in regard as it pertains to the story right now.

You either have to go full hippy blackout or suffer the consequences. It's not a geeky aside anymore. It's a goddamn internet thing, and it will only intensify.

I didn't get around to watching the major episode until 10pm Sunday. But I swear by 8pm it didn't matter because every site had some stupid headline like:
We talk to the actor about THAT major twist....[with a fucking picture of that character's corpse]
We talk to the OTHER actor about THAT OTHER major twist...[with a standing picture of soon-to-be-deceased character and his killer]
[Actor] to fans: I'm sorry for lying

I'm fine with the headlines, but jesus christ, if sites are going to put thumbnails on the articles, just put the Game of Thrones logo and not the characters involved in the spoilers just yet. Give it at least 24 hours!

The home page though? Other entertainment sites that don't solely focus on TV posted the spoiler on their main page as well.
Uh yes that should tell you something...... dont go to them. Going on the Internet, anywhere will always be playing with fire, remember that golden rule.
