Not bad that it's coming out to fast.

Maybe hackers won't have to translate skipped games, save for Yo-kai Sangokushi.

Oh also, I guess this means no third version? Or maybe they'll work those contents into the two games for this overseas release?

I haven't even played the first one yet (other than the demo) since it just came out in Europe. Is this one of those franchises where it's recommended to play all the games? Or is it okay to skip the first?

AFAIK, the sequel stars the same characters as the first game, and there's some bonus content if you have a Yokai Watch 1 save.

I guess I should get on with my plan to beat the first one soon then. I've had it since launch bit haven't taken the time to start it.

Having just rushed through the story of the first game to get it out of my backlog a few days ago, I was really hoping that the second game would hit at a point when I'd be able to give all the side/post-game stuff in it that I had to skip the first time around more of my time.

Playing it alongside FF XV, right before other stuff releases, is not really going to enable that. I just want to love you, Yo-Kai Watch...

I still have the first game sitting on my shelf for months. Only played about an hour but I enjoyed it and now that the sequel is coming out there's no better time to go back.

Only problem is that the game comes out the same day as FFXV so in that case I might end up waiting a few months before getting it.

Wow. Sent off to be destroyed.

Because of FFXV??

I understand that there are enthusiasts here that are interested in both games and don't want to buy both as they come out close to each other - the majority of each game's target group shouldn't really overlap though. It's a kid's game after all.

Edit: Yeah this, see the posters below me.

And back on topic: Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls seem horrible names for a kid's game.

I don't know why people are writing it off as a bomb. Pretty sure that Yo-kai Watch and Final Fantasy have fairly different audiences. Are there a bunch of 8 year olds anticipating FFXV?

Just after all three kids birthdays. Dang. I guess Christmas it is. I wish I could get a discount for buying three copies. :D

I'm gonna get FF15 on day one, I'll get Yo-Kai Watch after I beat FF15.
I would get both on day one but they're both time consuming games. I'm only getting FFXV first because I want it for story reasons.

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.

Considering Yo-Kai Watch is a kid friendly Shin Megami Tensei, and all the Yo-Kai are spirits of the dead (well, most of them are at least), the names are apt. I guess it's a "darker" kids game in a sense.

Aw ye we in this

why release all 3 versions at once when u can release 2 of then and then the definitive version later for more money :)

I'm pretty sure he means Yo-Kai Watch 3: Sushi & Tempura, which is coming out in July in Japan.

But again, Final Fantasy XV is an entirely different market.

This gif is amazing, and I'm stealing it.

There actually is a third version of 2 (which came out after the original two versions) which we don't seem to be getting. Apparently you can import save data into it to skip playing the story again, though, so if it does come out here eventually there's that at least.

EDIT: Oops, misunderstood what post the post you were quoting was about, nice.

Does the second one make improvements on the first one? I liked a lot of stuff about the first one but I thought it was paced pretty poorly and didn't provide you with enough variety of Yo-kai in the main story line. Plus some Yo-Kai were just reskinned versions of other Yo-Kai.

yes they also added like 200 new yokai, it also has online battles with friends to add to the replay value and some minor changes to battles.

I was honestly surprised that they brought the first game to the west when 2 is better in every single way. Especially since they kind of do a story reset to an extent.

As for improvements ive noticed in 2...
-Better navigation
-The ability to travel to different city via the train
-Better side quest tracking
-Better mechanic of catching yokai where you dont know which food to give
-Longer in general
-Trading/battle now that there is two versions
-*story spoiler*
time travel

YW2 over FFXV any day.
Agreed, both demos have not sold me on FFXV. Too sci-fi and the combat is way too automated even compared to YW1.

I hope EU date gets announced because that delay was so not fair to EU players.

That is great to hear, navigation was my main issue with the first game because it was a pain until you got mirrors.

I know about Shinuchi.
It's possible that's coming out next year. There was a five month gap in Japan between the original two YW2 games, and the third version. We'll just have to wait and see
Or it's possible they included the Shinuchi content in the localization. We'll see come September.

EDIT: Heh, saw your edit.

Sweet, this is awesome news. I actually might start working on my Yokai Database again now, since the competitive aspect should really help with people's interest.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Who is supposed to play all these 3DS JRPGs? Getting too much... still cool that they announced the second game already.

Really crazy to release 2 versions when the first game bombed
How much did the first game sell and what did Nintendo/Level 5 expect for the first game in a new IP?

Since you are labeling it as a Bomba you surely have the right answers.

I know right? We got nothing in 2014 then all the sudden we getting all of them this year.
Still though, probably going with DQ7 and YW2 as my main two RPGs this year. (Edit: Guess also Sun if you count Pokémon as a modern RPG, LOL)
I also hope Busters gets announced for early 2017.

Awesome yokai watch 1 felt like a proof of concept game and everything I've heard about the sequel states it's a lot better
You can definitely tell it was made in 2013. It has not aged that well. People like 2 better so I am excited.

And Monster Hunter Generations. That's another 200+ hours gone right there. 3DS in overdrive this year. It's like 2013 all over again. My body is (not) ready.

If it bombs it won't be due to FFXV anyway. That's not the JRPG Hino has to worry about.

Yeah, for sure. My original comment was me being facetious lol Definitely need to worry about Pokemon's release a month and a half later. Although maybe Yokai Watch 2 can benefit from the Pokemon hype, giving 3DS owners a 'Monster collecting' game to satisfy them until Sun and Moon.

between europe and america it sold a couple hundred thousand units which isnt bad and since then the anime is getting a second season over here and toy sales are doing great so its growing also in japan the series didnt really become huge untill the second game released.
