NEW Mighty No. 9 Trailer: Masterclass

You've never played a game, watched a movie, or read a book that made fun of the audience? It's pretty common.

Yea, while I would not say it is common it does happen. I think the key difference is when something is making fun of the audience the audience has to be in a good mood.

This is where things fall flat for MN9. After 3 delays, botched PR , and 3 million dollars for a game that looks sub-par. The faith just is not there for the game. People want to get angry and giving them a low hanging fruit will make people angry.

I guess this could be a PR tactic to get word of mouth about the game. This is just a groundless reasoning though.

Beautiful.

Wow, that fire effect looks like it was taken straight out of a PS1 game.

I was ready to say it seemed like the audience here was being too defensive as I read the lead up to this, but you're absolutely right about the tone and timing.

Surprised at the down votes. Was always wary of the title and still haven't been convinced. Really hope they release a demo because the gameplay looks average and I need to have hands on experience before I even consider the game.

Yeah, Dudebro marketing just never works.

Wildstar tried it. Completely flopped.
Sunset Overdrive did it. Absolute disaster.

Marketing needs to learn that this cringey style just doesn't grab anyone.

Dead on. The target for this advertisement is the total opposite.

Despite the delays, disappointment and the bad lines, I'm kinda shocked at just how downvoted this is. I mean the game still looks fun. I still want to play it, at least.

The gameplay actually looks good. It's just the visuals that look terrible. And from what I've heard from the soundtrack, it doesn't hold a candle to the Mega Man games.

It's because the internet (and the gaming community) is infested with 13-year-olds and manchildren.

I still wish the game would have looked like the first "screenshot" for their campaign:

But the gameplay in the demo was pretty fun

They should have gone hand drawn 2D.

Polygons may be quicker, easier and less expensive but if you don't know what you're doing (or don't care), your finished product will look every bit of it.

What happened to the art style?

Did someone delete the concept art & beta testing files while laundering most of the budget for side projects?

Trailer wasn't very inspiring. Haven't really seen the game to any capacity til this thread and I can't say I am interested. Main character looks dorky. Getting flashes of that Megaman X remake for PSP in look, and I thought that 3D lacked the soul of the SNES version sprites.

wow the sonic picture actually has pizzas.

when i first took a quick glance at it I thought they photoshopped the explosions from the trailer
