The new Mega Man cartoon sounds dumb and bad

I see Gaffers have made up their mind over a fairly tame design and a show specifically aimed for kids.

I mean, this is almost the Mega Man universe design.

Yep; this looks like a mixture of a number of different sub-series and thus, has potential to make everyone happy if show is strong.

The only difference between the MM Universe design and this one is that the one here has more elements linked to X's design (helmet design mainly).

Yeah, the best possible outcome of putting Mega Man in a school is that it creates an opportunity to introduce the kids from the Battle Network games as characters.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
This is worse than getting nothing Mega Man related...

I could easily seem them as supporting characters, with Lan maybe being Aki's/Rock's best friend with his human persona. I could even see the bio-metals having a role here, with them being a creation of Dr. Wily in an effort to replicate the robot armor system Dr. Light made for Aki/Rock. Then again, I expect a version of the Bio-Metals to be a big reason for why the Robot Masters happen in this new world or something.

By the looks of it, somebody went through a lot of trouble to track down the owner of the original pitch video so they could create a higher quality transfer for youtube. This pitch video did become the cartoon series that appeared on the USA network, but they retooled the designs to appeal more to western tastes of the '90s. But personally, I think the original pitch looked really good.

That's really cool! I also agree that the original pitch looks good.

But this stylized look looks so much better.

capcom continuing to ruin everything by westernising all their franchises. SF, DMC, Megaman etc

Only Nintendo can save MH from Capcom... lol.

At this point, just let Sakurai make a mega-man game. He's clearly more intune with the character than Capcom is...

Boom is ok, but it cant fox bad games.

Dunno about the pacman cartoon, but the video games are actually pretty good.

Yeah but are kids interested in the series now because of the shows? As far as I can tell, series recognition or reception for kids hasn't changed much because of the new cartoons. They probably would rather watch Spongebob, or Amazing World of Gumball.

Boom has a sequel despite how terrible the first game went and an on-going comic, Pac-Man seems to doing fairy fine with its mobile games.

No numbers, ratings, sales figures, or other evidence like that? Impression I got was the Boom games sold pretty terribly and the Pac-Man Ghostly Adventures games didn't light up the charts, and neither have reinvigorated the franchises to anything above treading water.

Ugh that art...yikes.

That's some last 90's cg spec right there. Some real Code Lyoko shit.

How well have Sonic Boom and Pac-Man Ghostly Adventures been doing on that front?

Boom is doing okay, but is still lost in scheduling hell on CN in America. The network doesn't have faith in it.

There are days where I think the only reason why Pac-Man is still on TV is because of how bungled Disney's cartoon lineup has been over the past 2 years. I get that it's cheap to make and evergreen and can cross market with anything, but it's SUCH TRASH.

Meanwhile, Gravity Falls and Motorcity get shot in the face...

Other characters from the games and new characters, including Mega Mini, will also be featured.

Pretty sure the Boom comic ended.
Ah you're right, coulda sworn they were still making them. Maybe the cartoons didn't light up the franchise into super stardom again, but unlike Pac-Man or Sonic through Mega Man hasn't been around in the spotlight for a few years beyond appearances in Smash or Monster hunter vOv

Sonic Boom was...so close to being amazing. It had so much comedic build and right when you get REALLY into it, BAM, it drops off a fucking cliff with some real dumb shit.

The knuckles, "wait, I can't read" joke was fucking amazing. And then the rest of the episode was trash.

The Sonic "happy place" joke was fucking amazing. And then? Trash.

There's someone on that writing staff who needs to be the real head of that production and is getting shut out by someone who is too worried about keep plots simple so kids under 8 can follow along. Because that fucker has some Sonic The Hedgehog Twitter levels of gold every once in a while...and then it just...smashes it's head on the side of a table.

So are you suggesting that, because he hasn't been exposed to kids as much as Sonic and Pac-Man were before their new cartoons, that kids might respond more favorably to the new Mega Man one because it'll be more fresh?

If so, I guess that makes sense. It'll be interesting to see how the cartoon does then.

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
"Okay, so we've got the budget! Now to hire someone that can draw MegaMan!"
"Orrrrrrrrr..."
"Yes, thats right, lets find those strange animators and artists that CAN'T draw MegaMan!!!!!"

I don't want to be overly negative, but the fact they're striving so hard to distance themselves from any Megaman continuity raises so many red flags for me.

The Archie Comics interpretation of the Classic series was a solid adaptation, so I'll hope for the best (but expecting the worse) for this new series.

Danny Dudekisser

I paid good money for this Dynex!

Or has the potential to make nobody happy, because it looks like a shitted-up version of a thing they like.

Not a fan of Mega Man's new design more or less being Mega Man with a X paint job on him, however it is Man of Action so at least it will be written well.

I hope.

LMAO

I'm not sure why you're so up in arms. This cartoon is not for us.

Also, yeah, a show directed at super-young kids is allowed to be crap. I can't think of much from my childhood that necessarily holds up as an adult. A child's mind is very, very different from an adult's.

Another point I have is that cartoons are far from the entertainment powerhouse they were when we were kids. iPad and Call of Duty are king now. So this heavy emphasis on quality is unnecessary.

Nevermind that none of us actually have any idea if the show is actually bad or not yet.

Being for kids =/= its ok if its awful. I hate that mentality and its been proven time and time again that the best shows and often the most successful ones are the ones that even being kid titles are enjoyable by adults and that stand the test of time. Being for kids is not an excuse to pump out shit (assuming this show is bad of course - there's still a chance, its just this first impression is awful).

Eh, I'm just a easy person to please I suppose :l.

If people want to hate this, won't stop them. But I hope people give the show a chance whenever it comes out. It could be decent but then again, it can be shit as well.

All they had to do was take the Archie Comics' designs and storylines and it would have been perfect but nooooo.

Agreed, I even like Teen Titans GO but really dislike Powerpuff Girls.

Well Sonic Dash is a pretty damn huge mobile game; has at least 100 million downloads. Kids still know about Sonic even if they aren't playing his games on the sort of platforms he's usually known for.

I expect you are already ignoring the vague hints we are given of how this show will start which makes everything you just wrote not happening.

Most likely it's going to be a generic action cartoon or it will be the usual sitcom with action., like Sonic Boom, code lyoko.

Nonsense, Steven Universe has a runtime of barely 11 minutes, and it works out very well for it.
That works for that

Sonic isnt stephen universe and 30 minutes
Plus sega fixing the game end of this i think would work tremendously.

Holding every cartoon to one standard seems... Backwards as hell.

Oh well. Still hopeful the show will be good and if its like Sonic Boom, won't mind. Liked a few episodes of that honestly.
