World of Final Fantasy screens

What tone are you seeing that is inconsistent? They are going to have lighthearted moments for kids but a serious core

Well, you just said it yourself - lighthearted for kids but a serious core. I don't think that tends to do narrative any favors. And pan-FF-universe stuff is typically another strike against coherent narrative.

These are the reasons I could never really get into KH, despite enjoying the gameplay.

What about Dissidia? Fan? Not a fan?

So you dont think a story can have lighthearted moments and take itself seriously other times? KH is a strange case because the plot fucked itself over a lot of the time through bad writing and plot contrivance, not the tone of the story itself. There is room for both if the story is done right.

Lighthearted moments for kids but with a serious core is something that could easily describe Pixar movies, or any number of other great stories.

XV is my holy grail but this game looks amazing. Seems like a laidback game with charm I dig it! A bit too cartoonish for my taste but it reminds me of KH sort of ( aesthetic wise )

The game looks quite good, although I'm still not sold with the art direction of the main duo (both human and chili forms). It looks even more caricaturists version ofor Kingdom Hearts characters, somehow.

I'm also confused what game this actually is. JRPG, but is it linear? Overworld? What battle system? Frankly I haven't looked too much in depth, but I feel like Square hasn't communicated well yet what this game actually at its core is, other than references to old FF games.

I don't like Odin. He looks like a grim reaper, and his horse is short two legs.

But the game is still looking like the best Final Fantasy so far this generation. I just wish the humans looked better.

It's kind of like Final Fantasy X, kind of linear levels with stuff to explore and towns to visit with things to do. It also uses ATB system, you control the two main characters and also have to capture monsters.

I am 1000x more hyped for this and Setsuna than I am for FXV and FFVIIr. If you would have told 10 year ago me that I would have laughed in your face.

I had no idea this was a Enemy Left / Heros Right turn-based game... hot damn!

Has there been gameplay video of this yet?

The hero stacks are kinda bonkers though... Hmmm... I won't hold that against it just yet though.

For those interested in what the game plays like and how the battle system actually revolves about the monsters and human characters, here's this 1080p 60fps gameplay vid from one of the stage events early this year. They said that the game still had to be improved and that load times would be much shorter in the final build.

I remember at first, being completely turned off of the art style during the reveal of this game at E3. Since then, I have taken a complete 180 on that, and feel as though it really brings character into the art. Looks fantastic so far :) Can't wait to find out the release date! Maybe E3 this year?

Can you be chibi all the way? I dislike those Nomura big head designs.

Yeah they look off, something weird with there faces and bodies.

Linear like FFX so no real overworld. Battle system is ATB with a stacking mechanic of shrinking monsters to stack on you or stack of them will unlock different moves. My guess is summons in this game may be summoning FF game representatives.

Ugh, I think the art style is absolutely hideous, but I'm surprisingly interested in the game. Most likely a day one purchase for me.

I may be alone but this reminds me a little of something from the Square PS1 era. As such, it's one of my most anticipated games right now, though with a dash of cautious optimism.
