Does anyone know if these comes with the original packaging and such or just the hardware? Are the games physical or digital?

iirc it comes with its own packaging but it's different from the standard boxes. pretty sure it specifies that it's refurbished on the box. not sure about the games though.

Anyone have any issues buying a refurbished from Nintendo? Thinking of picking one up .

I purchased a refurbished Wii U about a year ago and haven't had any issues whatsoever. Terrific deal and the product is as good as new, honestly.

What was the previous price on these refurbs the last few times they were available? Is this higher/lower?

My personal buy-in price on Wii U has always been $199 new. But this is getting awfully close.

Their prices on refurbs are generally consistent. I don't think they fluctuate much, if at all.

Considering that Super Mario 3D World and Nintendo Land are easily worth $25 together, I'd argue that it's already at $199.

I picked up one of these refurbs a couple years ago and I would swear the thing was brand new. This is the way to go with buying a Wii U.

This seems like a good deal but I just can't bring myself to spend $225 on a dead system where I'll still have to buy a proper controller and the games are still so expensive.

I believe they come in a refurbished branded box.
Yeah. I bought one for my kid sister a couple years back, and it looked like retail packaging but had REFURBISHED in red letters printed directly onto the box. Nintendo Land was shrinkwrapped inside. The refurb didn't include a gamepad cradle like my launch deluxe package did.

For what it's worth I picked up one of the refurbished 32GB Deluxe white systems for the girlfriend last Christmas and it looked practically brand new.

Nintendoland and Super Mario 3D World were pre-installed on the console.

Is the Wii U Gamepad not a "proper controller"? It's not missing any buttons or sticks.

Remember girls, a NEW cradle/stand set is less than 2 USD at your local GameStop!

Might want to link this fact to the OP.

I went looking for one last year and one of the Gamestop guys just gave me a used one since it wasn't in their system and they wouldn't be able to sell it anyway.

If you switch the site to Canadian then it's actually $300.00... can't you buy a brand new Wii U for that price here already? Too pricey for a refurbish.

had this been available 3 months ago when I wanted to buy it I would have bought it. Now looking forward to their plans for it ill just wait for the nx reveal.

Still $225? WTF? I bought used Xbox One for $200 more than half a year ago...

Sounds like someone just couldn't wait to unload the Xbox One they were selling you.

I don't understand your comment. Are you saying people in here shouldn't pay in Canadian or do you think that $300 dollars here is still 300 in Canada.

I purchased one of these for $200 (Nintendoland, but no Mario) about 2 years ago.

It was a great deal. The system looked brand new, came with a 1-year warranty from Nintendo, and Nintendoland was a sealed, boxed copy. It came in a box that clearly marked it as a refurbished unit. The console has performed great for nearly 2 years now, and you could never tell I didn't get it brand new.

One small thing was that inside the box, the documentation was all in Spanish and the information about the warranty indicated that it was for Latin America (I'm in the US and it looks like my unit came from their refurb center in Mexico that also serves Latin America). I called Nintendo, gave them the serial number, and they confirmed that my warranty was active for North America, so that only took about 5 minutes to resolve and I had no further issues.

Nintendo refurb items are fantastic buys. Once you account for shipping, they're pretty much the best way to buy this stuff.

Dont wiiste your money folks.

Too much for a refurbished console close to the end of its cycle imo

Your feelings about the product itself aren't useful the way a better price/bundle somewhere else would be. Deal/availability threads probably aren't the place for the former.

You're entitled to your opinions, and we're entitled to ask you questions about your opinions. You know, conversations and such.

I was having a conversation. I replied to the poster above you's question and he told me this isn't the place for that.

Ok, so no opinions in dea threads. Got it. Forgive me, i' new.

It's fine to have an opinion but don't you think everyone on this gaming board is well aware of the Wii U's status by now? Who do you think you're really helping out by your personal observation? It's about tact and not trying to be so blatant with trolling attempts.

On topic I guess no one has an idea how long these will be in stock for. I guess I will leave it to fate, I keep waffling back and forth on this and if they run out before monday then they run out. I have such a backlog as it is and more coming out I really don't need to add another console to the mix.

Think of the Wii U as a Wii U, Wii, GCN, NES, SNES, Genny, N64, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Commodore, PC Engine, PS1 console-playing Jukebox with Netflix?

It's amazing all the stuff it can run within an hour of cracking open the package.

I recently got one from gamestop for basically $40 for trading in a bunch of my games. But MAN nintendo must be getting some mad cash through their games, I think I already spent more money trying to buy games for the Wii U than on the Wii U it self XD

... they were out of stock for a while? How?

I'm so eager to pull the trigger on one of these. Just gonna wait for hard, official confirmation whether NX has full BC or not.

You started with a drive-by quality post. That can get you banned because you're trolling and inciting shit in a thread.

Had you said something like "While it is a good price, I honestly believe buying one at this point may be a waste of money due to being the end of its lifecycle.", that would have been fine and actually sharing an opinion.

Not fucking "Dont wiiste your money folks.", as if the pun was even clever at all.

People bought them. And if the NX has full BC, will it need the gamepad?

Yea I know, I know. I'm actually more interested in the gamepad part because of the off screen play. My eye sight problems have worsened and i've been pretty much relegated to handheld devices. The vita and PS4 has been a savior for me this gen but i'm still interested in quite a few Wii U games, Bayonetta 2, Pikmin, Tokyo Mirage, Zelda's (I never played TP), Wonderful 101, Xenoblade, etc. If they are still there monday I will get it.

Even if there is full BC, the likelihood of GCN games running would be slim. Don't you want a GCN playing machine with HDMI out and a scaler built-in?

Who am i helping? Please.. Like evey word you type here is helping someone.

What you mean to say is "its fine to have an opinion (if you're gushing over nintendo wii u refurb)". When you place conditions on opinions it kinda defeats the purpose, no? I'm not trolling a console or its users (i have many nintendo products) just commenting on the price of a 'deal'.

Ain't no drive-by. I'm still here. I'm being polite in all my responses. Not sure what you mean by trolling and inciting.

Yeah who knows. I mean Nintendo's not one to shy away from supporting multiple control options. And then there are rumors that NX's regular controller will have a screen...

God this NX reveal wait is killing me. They really are milking and stretching this out.

Damn, Gamecube + Wii + WiiU support in one machine is a compelling argument. Might have to grab one now regardless.

Not only do GCN games run beautifully, but you can use the original GCN controller, a Wavebird, or even a Wii U Pro controller or Dualshock.

A single machine with HDMI out and built-in systemwide scaler (like 360, unlike PS3 so you know how it works) that can play virtually every single disc-based Nintendo game on one machine, plus virtually everything else prior as well is a damned nice thing to consider for the cost of entry.

Why are you doing this to my wallet.

EDIT-

Installing Nintendont (or whatever the program that enables GC play is) voids the warranty though right? I know these refurbs are supposed to practically be new, but not having warranty on it makes me kinda nervous.

$225 with those games?

That's impulse buy territory for anyone who realizes the Wii U just won't sell for pennies. It's an inherently expensive product.

Testimonials of the refurbs solidify the option, too.
