Breath of the Wild is the official subtitle for Zelda U/NX, first gameplay trailer

Soooo did anyone point out Ganon at 2:03 yet?

I'm liking the graphic style a lot, looks gorgeous most of the time, but a little bland at others.

The world does give off a strong SotC vibe, but I don't mind that at all and think it's actually a perfect match for a Zelda game.

Seems to fit the world too, as you see a lot of those robot-enemies decaying everywhere.

They seem to take on a totally new direction with the climbing, cooking parts and seeing Link in different outfits and full body armor at one point. Excited for the gameplay section :)

Still I do hope there will at least one major settlement in this game.

The stuff shown in the trailer is the kind of survival ideas I pictured from project ogre, all the more disappointing what it ended up being.

Well in other Zeldas you kill animals and consume their heart, hunting for flesh and skin pales a bit in comparison ;)

I see a lot of people complaining about the world being empty.

It's the wild. It's not supposed to be GTA or Assassin's Creed with icons littering the map. Shadow of the Colossus had NO enemies or shit to do between bosses except solving the environment itself to reach them and that game was celebrated. It's basically Zelda+Shadow of the Colossus (with bits of environmental manipulation, and even gliding).

I'm pumped for this game.

This.

I mean, I don't play any games where you shoot people or animals, so...it's a big surprise to me and I'm trying to figure out how I feel about it. I love Zelda but I'm not keen on this development so I'm trying to parse out the cognitive dissonance.

Do you mean actual animals or would that include fictional as well?

You shoot "animals" as far back as the NES Zelda.

Not trying to call you out, just looking for clarification.

As a long-time nintendo fan, I'm not impressed. The graphics are nice for WiiU, sure, but while the artistic direction is cool and all, the world looks too empty and barren. Like TP Hyrule Filed barren^100000.
The bar has been raised so much for open world games in the recent years, this would have been impressive like 5 years ago, not today. Not talking about tech, I'd never expect a WiiU game to run like The Witcher 3 on a 970+ class of video card; just about stuff going around and such. Xenoblade X did that manyfold better on the same hardware than what we could see in that demo.
Crossing finger for some amazing gameplay

A little disappointed with the trailer. World looks massive and like most Zelda games, there seems to be a ton of different terrain and climates to explore. Holy hell do those animations look janky... hopefully they a iron some stuff out before release.

Fairly sure that's how the animation is supposed to look like, they're clearly not going for a naturalistic look.

I'm not sure what to feel at this point. Like RE7, I'm interested to learn more, but I'm not completely sold yet.

Hopefully there are towns and sidequests somewhere in the game.

A few visual oddities, but still quite lovely looking. Lotta new and interesting gameplay things seem to be going on as well.

Another axman behind the tree left of the one link fell.

Yeah saw that too. Was too lazy to screen cap and shit.

You could see a fair amount of smoke trails and little houses tucked away all throughout the trailer. There's going to be a fair amount of NPCs scattered throughout the world. Wonder if we'll have any real settlements though outside Castle Town, especially since that looks to be captured again at some point.

Yeah those animations weren't terrible but the game is not releasing tomorrow, min 8 months to go so... I guess it will be okay by then

So I don't know if it's a deal breaker. My gut feeling says yes. The thought of it is uncomfortable to me. Your response reads as bit harsh. Everyone has their own hang-ups, whether easily explainable or easily understood or not. I respect that it doesn't bother you, please show me the same courtesy.

Ah, I see. Up in Vermont bow hunting was still pretty popular.

Not harsh, but I definitely don't understand it. And that's a-ok if that's your thing. Doesn't bother me at all. But don't try to paint me as some aggressive force against your morals just because I didn't frame my question in ultra-politeness.

In any case, you've never had an issue with Zelda before this? Honest question. Killing hoards of goblins, knights, birds, frogs, fish --- there has been tons of killing.

That music is just to good ^_^. I like what i saw, although it feels a bit empty in comparison with XenoX. Still a day 0 for me :D

It looks like Wind Waker x Shadow of the Colossus with a whole lot more equipment customization.

I am very pleased. Hope we get to see some dungeon gameplay as well.

hahaha......

Gameplay look great in concept, let's see at execution.

But this is better be Wii u footage.

Pretty sure it is Wii U footage. Nintendo doesn't really seem to do a lot of bullshitting on their trailers for the most part and I doubt they'd show gameplay from something they haven't even announced yet. Especially since they're live demoing it all E3 so it'd be kinda terrible PR to have a trailer and then have the game look significantly worse when the press actually plays it.

I'll be completely honest. I teared up at the trailer. Zelda is a very important part of my life. The first game in particular.

Video games wouldn't be a hobby of mine if it weren't for that game.

Didn't cry, but Zelda is important to me too. I have a Zelda "shrine" of all my Zelda games all boxed up, all the memorabilia and music CDs and figures, all in my game room.

My wife and I share a love for Zelda games. Today, in fact, I'm buying a frame for the Zelda Anniversary Symphony poster I got when we heard the tour.

It's a great game, great series, and it carries a lot of memories for me and inspires me as a game designer.

The desolate world is appealing to me. I expect villages or certain areas to be bustling with life but once Link is removed from those populated areas I'd very much like a more "just me, my horse, and whatever nature is around" feeling rather than having humanoids popping up around everywhere. That's just me of course but I would be a fan of such an approach.

Yeah, same. Sounds really awesome.

Good find. I can see the horns.

You probably don't have to hunt. It is likely optional. You said that you are a meat eater but you are upset about video game hunting? Just trying to understand

I'm a huge animal lover and pretty much a vegetarian these days. But for me personally, I don't mind hunting in videogames, so long as it's not drawn out and cruel.

You're not explaining anything. By life, you mean people, cities? Cause there is plenty of wildlife.

It's clear when you watch the same stream...
It's everything. flowers, leaves, bushes, animals, people, trees, detail in different stones, etc.
It looks barren (thus far).

BUT: it could be just the trailer. So i'll just watch more and we'll see.

I'll miss feeling like Mr. Miyagi by the end of the game when I could just poke bats out of the air! (I'm so glad somebody else loved the motion controls of SS! Congrats on the good taste!)
Haha, I thought it was brilliant. It was everything I expected back when TP was announced for Wii.
Game was lovely. :)

Wait, you eat meat but don't condone hunting? What humans have literally been doing to survive since the dawn of time?

What's going on here?

Link is definitely hunting, yes.
