Breath of the Wild is the official subtitle for Zelda U/NX, first gameplay trailer

nortonff

Hi, I'm nortonff. I spend my life going into threads to say that I don't care about the topic of the thread. It's a really good use of my time.
Does the game always have that washed out aspect?

I can't decide if I should get Twilight Princess HD or Xenoblade Chronicles X to help channel my excitement for now...

I'm thinking XBX just to get my open world fix.

I wonder when we'll get to see NX visuals. Obviously not for months and months since it would cannibalize Wii U sales, but still.

I doubt thats the reason they are holding back the NX, WiiU sales in Japan are way down and in NA it had its worst month. If Nintendo cared about WiiU sales they would have games to release for WiiU this fall.

They are holding back to NX because they are just not ready to show it, hopefully we see it before the fall

Unless the NX version is so drastically better then I'm probably just staying with the Wii U version. Don't really have the space for another console right now.

Wait a second.

Attack a cucco.
Drop a bomb.
Lunch for days.

lt's really poorly done if that's the intent. When l first saw it l thought there was something wrong with my internet.

I like it. It's disconcerting, and it fits with the technologically inspired enemies. It doesn't seem overt enough to be intentional though, but I'm not sure. But it's like the enemies tear through the trailer suddenly then it resumes with a hitch.

What are the chances that the Master Sword goes through some sort of Narsil - Anduril sort of transformation. For those that are unsure what I'm talking about, in the Lord of the Rings there is a powerful sword called Narsil. During a fight with Sauron, the Dark Lord, the sword broken into pieces. Using the broken handle of the sword, Elendil used it to cut the One Ring off of Sauron, thus defeating him.

In the Fellowship era, the shards were collected and reforged into a new sword called Anduril. The scabbard was also enchanted so that the blade that, once drawn, could never break.

We've seen that the Master Sword is quite rusted, and we've also seen that there's weapon degradation. Heck, we've even seen Bill grab the rusted sword from the rock in the beginning of the demo. The sword was meant to resemble the Master Sword.

There's also a focus on interchangeable weapons and archery.

I could see a game where-in Link gets the Master Sword, but it's not as powerful as it once was, so it breaks during an early battle with Ganon. We know that we can mine ore, so perhaps there's a quest to reforge the sword and gather special ore from wherever.

Ha. First time chickens aren't invincible if it happens.

Actually, given that you can have an animal companion with Wolf Link, it would be a hilarious Zelda in-joke if you could get a chicken companion that was way more powerful than a chicken has any right to be.

As far as the Open-Air Adventure game category, I was thinking that since these lands are so massive that the "Dungeon" is actually the outside world leading up to the boss. That would mean no boss keys maybe and also the boss fights would be outside. It also maybe allows you to have to use multiple items you find to solve the puzzles.

I don't know if I like the full on physics based puzzles. I usually have a hard time with those in other games and in those games you can get stuck if you don't do it right. I wonder how Zelda will handle the problem of what if you cut down all the trees and they all fall into the pit and you still can't get across. When do the trees regrow back or how can you reset the puzzle? It looked like even when you die, the trees do not reset, so wondering how they will handle that failure.

The traversal and interaction with the environment is exactly what I was hoping for. Rather than just being a backdrop, the travelling through the overworld has some consequence and meaning to it.

It really is interesting to see. Freedom to climb without following a route. A stamina system that means mashing the jump button while climbing and not thinking about it will cause you to plummet. Looking at a wall and plotting a route, with places to rest, before climbing. It looks like it could be quite engaging, especially so if items get involved.

Catching up the trailer and details after a long shitty day at work.

Love pretty much every so far. Conceptually and mechanically looks to do some wonderful things with the open world premise and the Zelda franchise. Really does seem like it's harkening back to the series roots, literally back to the very first.

Not sold on stuff like item drops and durability. Nintendo hasn't done this "right" yet in my opinion and I'm not convinced loot shit has a place in Zelda. We'll see.

Like the art, but the tech looks terribly dated. Reality is I've been spoiled by open world games on PC hardware, or at least modern hardware, which the Wii U is not. The limitations in draw distance and scene density are painfully obvious and I don't feel the art, as nice as it is, does it any particular favours. The immediate proximity of Link always looks great, meanwhile everything on the horizon is devoid of detail. Really, really want to see the NX build.

Anyway get hype etc etc. Looks like a solid direction for the series.

My thoughts exactly.

It's not poorly done at all... maybe some people are just used to the generic trailer drops which are much more dramatic and a few seconds longer (and accompanied by a stupid sub bass drop). It's clear with the musical build-up and quick successive cuts that after the blank screen you are entering the climax of the trailer.
