I would be more worried about why your mechanic is lying to you. Did he tell you which lines were cut? If someone cut one line you would notice it immediately, If someone cut all of your brake lines your car would be toast.

So they've been leaking for a while and you've had people work on them already and your mechanic found evidence of someone cutting on the lines. No one's trying to kill you guy, he's just seeing the other mechanic's work. Like the other poster said, if someone cut your lines you brakes would immediately go out. The last guy that worked in them just did a shitty job.

Definitley animal, accident or mechanic, that's not how cutting brakes work. And have you ever dealt with wires,hoses,belts, or anything of the sort on a car? I find the idea someone can figure out the perfect way to slow delay cut that line, and have it guaranteed to work as intended without any affect from wear and tear, pressure, and other variables that could make the same type of line from the same manufacturer and material react differently to being cut all reacting the same to this one highly practiced cut( which means they either have done this multiple times or practiced, don't believe me you go cut this type of line and have cut just perfect) highly Laughable.

At the very least OP you need to raise a report with the police. Someone tried to murder you and at the very least tried to cause you serious harm. The police will take a look at the car and verify if the line was cut, if you doubt the Mechanic.
