Haly

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Priority number 1, for me, would be leaver management. The rewards formula needs to be adjust so it doesn't feel like a waste of time for the winning team, or the team that manages to win 5v6. Everything else will sort itself out with time.

I wonder what the loss percentage of hanzos and bastions are. Must be near 99%.

get on my level

Finally finished placements. Rough matches except the last 2. Went 5/5. Ranked 48, ranked 50 in PTR. I guess that's around the spot for me. I'm about to start playing with 2 people new to the game, that'll be tough but it will also keep me in Quick Play for awhile.

Yeah. Leavers are ruining games that would otherwise be okay to enjoyable.

I do like that they can be banned from playing competitive for the rest of the season if they RQ too much but something needs to be done against leavers in the short term, a shitty XP penalty doesn't cut it.

Just call me Coin Flip.

Not playing comp, seems like a nightmare.

The craziest part for me is how different my W/L is in quick play versus competitive. Quick play:

Competitive:

And that includes my placement rounds, which were 8-2. So since placement, my record has been a staggering 12-27 for an abysmal 30% win ratio. At this point I would do anything for a forced 50%, because this feels way, way, way worse.

Seems really odd to comparison. If they did make a SP around genji, they'd change the formula a lot to fit a SP game.

That's a different question. Like is Genji a strong enough IP and character design to carry a single player game rather than is his gameplay unique enough. And no Genji isn't a strong enough character and almost all Blizzard characters have a very low profile outside of hardcore Blizzard fans.

After playing some ranked and finishing 10/7 (rank 50 atm) in solo queue, I have to say that so far I've been having a good experience with the ranked games. Obviously there are really BIG problems, such as the DCed and the non-sense sudden death (most stupid idea ever to solve a balanced match), but in general I'm finding people is trying harder to play as a team than in quick play. Some games we have steamrolled, in others we have been destroyed, but in general I've found a much more enjoyable "environment" than in QP, and I'm enjoying it quite a lot, people really want to win and I appreciate that

This is how all my matches go:

Start game - see Hanzo/Bastion picked - Remind them to change if opponents counter them with their picks - they never change their picks and get hard countered.

Some people in the game even called out them as "living memes", which they are.

Be a living meme yourself, pick Mei and make them have a good time hitting walls.

You're teaching them to be mobile with long range characters! It's educational!

I just checked my stats. For me, 7 hours of competitive Bastion played, 65% wins. But I'm willing to switch if things go poorly.

Yeah it was a joke obviously. Bastion must have insane win% in the lower ranks. ( not saying you are low rank mind )

Also I'm incredibly salty.

According to masteroverwatch Hanzo has a 51.6% win ratio in competitive. All that aardvark practising in quick play must of paid off. Apparently you should panic when you see a Winston or D.Va since they are the only ones really under 50%.

I can see Winston having trouble, not because he's not good but because when teammates see him they figure they have a tank, and he's really not. No one picks a real tank and things fall apart.

Winston's really good with calls/coordination. High mobility lets him pick off weak targets, which is made really easy with damage calls, and the chaos he can cause is super useful if the team knows to time their push with it. Without any of that... not so much.

And Twinston is ridiculous, lol. Every time my friend and I have run it, we roll over people and I feel bad for the other team. :X

I know PotGs are dumb and not representative of who the best player was and all but it still feels shitty when I win a game as Symmetra, get 3 gold medals with 36 kills and have constant teleport and shield uptime, and the PotG goes to the enemy Rein swinging his hammer at 2 people.

Why do people who suck at Genji insist on playing him in Competitive? It blows my mind. Just played with a Rank 29 Genji who WOULD NOT switch.

They think they wont get countered
Funny enough, if teams run Double Genji, its a fiesta for Winston, I laugh my ass off when they get countered hard

Good luck deflecting the Tesla canon ninja bro

I do love havign a Zenyatta that gets protected in quick play as Winston though.

Throw me an orb, put discord on them, Winston smash.

From looking around the net, it seems double Reaper is the new thing popping up on consoles at least, so expect a harsh Reaper nerf in a few months.

May have had a great day yesterday but today has been fucking shit! quitters everywhere, without exaggerating probably in 50% of the games I've done today. Tons of teammates who just cannot kill shit, lousy tank after lousy tank... I'm at the verge of saying a big ol' fuck you to this but I've decided to keep at it and see either how far my rank drops or how soon all the bad players give up on competitive. I main healer or tank, not fussed as I do ok with both but I can't really perform with both at the same time, let alone dps aswell. After a major amount of wins yesterday I'm now facing a major amount of losses and I've come down 4 ranks... geewhiz this is a real fucking hoot!

One big issue I think a lot of players face now is that from what I've seen Quick Play has become a training ground of sorts for people who wish to get better at competitive so a fair few players ( and I'm guilty of this myself ) go there now to test out characters they may wish to get good with in comp and this results in some real comedy games, some of which I experienced today and ironically enough no one was flaming or being salty about shit.

What makes it weird though is that there are going to be people who feel competitive isnt their thing but they may not get a very good experience in Quick Play if what I witnessed today is going to be a trend from here on so this will leave the game in a pretty strange place where a happy medium is going to be tough to find. Time will tell I guess.

He's a strong character but I don't think there's anything inherently unfair about him. Just keep your distance. I like Reaper though so maybe I'm just blinded.

There was nothing OP about Torb, but Blizzard is hitting him hard with the nerf hammer because Torb stacking is a problem on consoles. After the McCree nerf hit consoles, Reaper stacking stated becoming a problem.

Instead of fixing the real problem of hero stacking, Blizzard nerfs the hero.

He's mostly been a problem on KotH maps where everyone is close quarters. We ran into double and triple Reaper teams last night. Not fun to deal with.

Yep.

I think some adjustment to the formula for ranking would be wise as well, but the leaver situation needs to be fixed.

It's completely borked all around for everyone involved.

Among lower level quick play? Maybe.

In any competent team/comp play? Nah, at least for Bastion. Situationally, he can be a perfect pick and we used him to pull some wins last night (and lost because of the other team picking him as well).

Hanzo though I do genuinely find to be fairly useless. I usually get killed by one when I don't know they're there via some cheapass headshot, but after that, they're mincemeat.

Agreed. Reaper stacking in KOTH sucks to play against now because McCree no longer counters Reaper due to the nerf.

Yep.

Hero stacking needs to go. They've nerfed the counters to flankers, so now it behooves teams to pull stuff like double Reap. We even did it last night. It's hardly fun to me.

All that's going to happen is this shitty cycle of nerfing causing a new double (or more) stack to become viable. Unless they just get rid of it.

got a quad kill with junkrat after killing the enemy team's riptire which felt pretty awesome.

I will say the most impressive hting about this game is that I enjoy playing almost every single hero. There's only like 5? I don't like playing.

Bastion is great on ranked depending on the situation. He can wipe out the entire team when they are not expecting him. I won half my matches with Bastion.

Now Hanzo...

Fair point. He probably should be squishier since he has a great escape mechanic and he can recover health so easily.

McCree was ridiculous because he could singlehandedly neutralize an entire tank himself which is so fundamentally broken I'm surprised it ever made it in to the final product.

I can already see it now. They nerf Reaper, making double Winston or double Roadhog the new hero stacking problem.
