indie and jap devs already have their spaces, they don't need the NX
we've heard the screen is bookended by two controller sections on either side, which can be attached or detached as required.
Uhh, what? So when the system is docked and you wanted to play a game with the controller, would they snap together? Would you have to hold each piece in each hand? How would this work for two-player games when the controllers aren't symmetrical? I hope this is just the illustration and not how the system actually functions.
You mean PS2 era assets right? And most importantly.....
NO MORE MONSTER HUNTER GAMES WITH WII ERA ASSETS.
we did it fam!
It's clear what he means, and it's also what this whole thing sounds like to me. This is a handheld that has the added benefit of having a TV output. It's more of a 3DS successor than anything else. It's clear where Nintendo is hedging their bets.
And if it's an X1? You'll get nothing.
You know what, "insiders" have been saying all kinds of shit about the NX for a long time, so I wouldn't put any faith on any of them myself.
well shield has to deal with android ...
No BC. Ouch. Hope that's not the case.
Is this a complete list? I'd thought there were many more games beyond these.
This to me is the only objectively terrible part of this rumor.
There is no reason to have detachable controllers. It's just asking for shit to break and for it to be less comfortable. Simply give us a Pro Controller as well and don't have the handheld come apart at all. It just complicates things and dramatically increases the chances for hardware failure or loss.
I hope this fails hard and Nintendo makes an actual console. Not this monstrosity I'll never buy.
Fucking lol at all the posters I would regularly see that were 100% certain it wouldn't be a hybrid
Peléo;211436943 said:There are. I got this from a list of all games published by Nintendo, I just highlighted the biggest ones from each year in both platforms. 2013, for example, only in the WiiU also had Game Wario, Lego City Undercover, Mario Party U, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Mario Sonic Olympic Games, Sonic Lost World, Rayman Legends, NES Remix, Dr. Luigi, Pokemon Rumble U, Animal Crossing Plaza, Inazuma Eleven 3, Bravely Default, Daigasso Band Brothers, Professor Layton.
Here is the complete list if you want to look: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_products_published_by_Nintendo
Can't have standard-size discs on a portable.
I don't see anything wrong with this. How about Portable Nintendo Entertainment System?
Secondly, I think we are in a time where graphics mean less and less compared to gameplay. Sure hardcore gamers will nitpick, but I don't understand why Nintendo should overprice their system and drive up development costs to appease some hardcore tech gamers.
.
That looks terrible considering your hands would be hiding some of these buttons. Guy who did that photoshop clearly didn't think about it.
Not sure what's so "god is real" about that lol.
I hope this fails hard and Nintendo makes an actual console. Not this monstrosity I'll never buy.
At the very least, it will get the heavy Square and Capcom support that Nintendo handhelds usually get, which is a fair deal better than the Wii U had.

Wouldn't it be problematic to just overclock the handheld whenever it's connected to a TV without some cooling solution?
And assuming it would be, are there any external cooling solutions out there that are genuinely effective?
Lol. So already it's different enough to inspire this fury. Nintendo doing well, then.I hope this fails hard and Nintendo makes an actual console. Not this monstrosity I'll never buy.

Don't expect nx to be much of an upgrade over wiiU, maybe downgrade even.
So NX will have the great opportunity to offer tech that cannot stand as a console, because it is significantly weaker than Xbox One, yet cannot stand as a handheld either, because the runtime of the system is too low and it is too expensive? Or is Nvidia some kind of technological wizzard?
- for sufficiently well running multiplatform games (e.g. Sonic...) they will need X1 level of tech
- for the handheld audience to not be locked out due to price, they need to hit ~200
- for the handheld to be viable as a handheld, it must run at least 4-5 hours on one charge.
How is this even remotely viable? What doe the sacrifice? All of these?
It's not a new concept. That Neo Geo system that came out a few years back was a portable that plugged into a dock that resembled an AES unit, for TV gaming.
What's the point of including a stand?
They've both already done the reverse - let you take your home console onto your portable/mobile.
If they were in Nintendo's shoes, the apparent NX approach (portable-first) would make sense for their business. As is it wouldn't.
What if it could also be your phone?
