Severed is great. Wrote a short addendum to the PG review about the IOS version. Plays perfectly on touch, I'd argue that like Papers Please, it might just be the definite version of the game
So you have played the Vita version?
It's on sale in EU PSN.
Not sure how it would work on my iPad mini 2...

Euclidean Lands is looking great

Quick thoughts on the big three:

Orbyss - I have no idea how to play this after trying it for 5 minutes. It looks amazing and has some nice audio design.

Severed - The best version of the game. Looks fantastic and plays great. I've been playing it on iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2 and everyone who plays on iOS should get it. I will buy this on every platform. Loved it on Vita but the iOS one is the version to play.

Road Not Taken - Needs to download additional data :/ Ill try this tomorrow when I have time to stare at it download.

I'm playing it on an iPad Mini 2, and it works fine

Sounds great. See if I buy it now or later on a sale.
Seems like a good summer-game.
Having a constant lack of space though, which I don't understand.
Doing the movie-trick frees up about 1 gb temporarily but it goes away in a day or two.

Severed is on sale now, if you want it at a cheap price, you better jump on it now or you'll have to wait quite some time before it drops again.

Blyss is a nice one. I thought you couldnt fail a level but you definitely can, so is more challenging than I initially thought. I still dont see that isometric view shown on the AppStore pics, but maybe is locked behind one of the two other modes. You need to play a low amount of games to unlock the other two modes. Gameplay is all about taking out every dot from the grid but carefully selecting which first, and always in a match-3 fashion, if you leave to blocks you fail the level. Is an interesting new twist, is relaxing and the pace is like Threes, so it gives you time to think. You get currency and can buy new themes with it. You earn currency by playing and completing missions and raking up. I can say that the currency flow is good enough. Music and artwork are both superb and the app icon is amazing. Oh, and is endless, not level based (initally thought it was level based). Will keep it installed. Like I said first, a nice endless match-3 game.

Refunded road not taken. The download never progressed for me on both devices on wifi and cellular. Not sure why.

Replaying severed is <3. I hope they do a coloured vinyl of the ost.

I'm still not sure I want to pay the price for Severed. Not because it's a high price, just that I don't have that much money, so it'll have to be worth the bucks.

[edit]Oh, it has a great soundtrack?

The atmosphere created by the art, ambient sounds, and music is really great imo.

Severed is fantastic. Glad I purchased it. I feel that is is Infinity Blade taken to another level. Severing limbs and wearing them for upgrades is neat. The combat is rich and deep. Story seems to be emotional. Movement works better than expected and is very easy and confortable. You find better equipment as you move around. You can also explore the map to find stuff. You tap on both edges of the screen to turn left or right, tap on the middle of the screen to move forward and swipe with two fingers to look freely. But there is no free roam. But you decide where to move and when. And you can explore branches and look around. Never played it on any other platform so it was a must for me, glad I am playing.

Orbyss is... hard... how are you supposed to control it?

Edit: starting to get it, maybe... highest score so far: 5 xD

Asked the dev on Twitter and this is what he answered:

it usually helps people to try to make a straight line by oscillating your touch at the right frequency.

the ribbon always moves in an arc left or right depending on if you're touching the screen or not. Time the transitions.

Hope it helps Grim

And... was interested in buying Road Not Taken since it has a mode without the roguelike stuff but now not sure...

Oh, I were of the impression that Severed is mostly on-rails? But it seems to be a first person thing, where you freely move around with a digital analogue?

No, not really. You tap on both edges of the screen to turn left or right, tap on the middle of the screen to move forward and swipe with two fingers to look freely. But there is no free roam. But you decide where to move and when. And you can explore branches and look around.

In the last hour I just lost myself in the gorgeous and spooky forests of Road not Taken.
I wasn't sure what to expect but I was blown away.

Something is happening in that forest, and I'll discover what.

It's a mix of Nightmare Cooperative, Triple Town and Year Walk.
Looks and sounds amazing too.
A bit puzzle game, a bit crafting game, a bit adventure.

Loving it so far, can't wait to discover more secrets.

Also heard the it has some Zelda (puzzle-wise) in it

Hype for Road Not Taken rises again! Thanks for the impressions :)

Hmm, none of that sounds like something I would like but I think I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt in this case.

Aren't any of you playing Verreciel? There haven't been any talk about it since it released.

Do you like old-school dungeon crawlers, stuff in the vein of Legend of Grimrock or Coldfire Keep? That's essentially how Severed is designed, with swipe-based combat driven by precise attacks and time management. A haunting eerie story in a nightmarish eldritch place with weird creature design and fleshy twisted undergrowth. It's the kind of game where the armor you get from defeated bosses are those bosses' body parts

I haven't tried those games but they have never appealed to me.

Why do I keep looking for the August thread today lol. I keep thinking it is August 1.

I had noticed it on Steam and their press kit earlier in the week, but the devs wanted to officially announce it first

The concept is great and I'm wondering what the impact and consequences of those choices will be. Hopefully with 750+ cards, it's going to be entertaining. And at €2.99 it's quite cheap so this will surely be a buy.

I am going to buy Road Not Taken, played a bit on my PS4 version (PSN+ gift) and i found it too hard but gameplay wise was good, but too hard. This new version without roguelike elements fits me a lot better

Well I'm probably dumb but the iOS version doesn't wait to kill you.
Years 3 and 4 are brutal.

So good tough, loving the game and super intrigued by the story bits here and there.

Developers said that they added a new "easy" mode to the game, without roguelike elements (not my cup of tea, too many games on my plate for that). You are probably playing the regular mode, and that indeed is brutal.

According to the dev I'm playing the easy mode, as the normal hard one will be unlocked later :)
Just died at year 4 with 6 out of 7 child saved, DAMN!!!!!
I was so close!!!!

BUT....in this easy mode the game saves every year with all amulets gained...so you are replaying last year at most, which in game terms means you replay last quest only, you do not start from scratch.

The combinations are endless, there are a ton of items I created but I have no clue about what they do, but I'm already at the point where I'm actively trying to do specific stuff to bypass the various puzzles, and this is amazing.

I have big problems with the moles now...when you throw them they go under other items all the way towards the walls....so you have to spend a lot of energy dragging them around...I still didn't solve this specific puzzle.

Having a blast so far.

Sounds great to me... how long did you take to reach year 4? Lately I am more interested on shorter games (ABZÛ or BOUND, with No Man's Sky being the exception)
