Eurogamer: Microsoft has no plans to replenish stock of the Xbox One S 2TB model (EU)

We've now heard from our friends at Eurogamer.cz that Microsoft has no plans to replenish stock of the white 2TB model, which launched with an RRP of £349.

If you still want a 2TB-sized Xbox One S then your only option is the blood red Gears of War-themed special edition, which will arrive in limited numbers and at the more expensive price of £399 in October.

We're excited by the reaction from fans for the Xbox One S. While stock of the 2TB has sold out, gamers can pre-order the Xbox One S 2TB Gears of War Limited Edition console," a Microsoft spokesperson told Eurogamer when asked for more information.

"We will be sharing further details on other Xbox One S bundles and variations in the coming weeks."

Bizarre decision it really seems it was really low stock in the UK since the first time it sold out no new shipments were added

I still see it available here in Germany. Hell Amazon is still selling it. Not really quite sold out in EU I think.

Bizarre business decision. This isn't even creating artificial demand, this is just saying "that's your lot, now who likes 500GB, eh?".

Less hardware in inventory means less risk with the current instability in Europe. Probably a sign of things to come for stocks of Neo and NX.

Edit: Sigh, I guess I have to clarify: I meant financial instability... with Britain leaving Europe, the British pound devalued, documented examples of American companies already raising prices... so I'd say any business outside the EU concerned with exporting physical products will be tightening their supply chain during times of greater uncertainty.

Microsoft really never cease to utterly baffle me with their decision making processes these days, with Xbox, Windows and PC gaming.

And even then, we're not getting those until October.

Sounds like just words to try and keep interest up. They won't stop making them.

The 2TB was always meant to be a limited edition, I just didn't think it was that limited. The 500 and 1TB models are the permanent onces, so there just won't be one S stock until October.

Makes sense. The XB1 isn't selling great as it is, especially in the EU. The vast majority of people who will buy one in the future would go for the cheaper smaller HDD versions anyway.

So make some money on the 2TB 'early adopters' then roll with the cheaper version(s).

Glad I picked one up then!

Originally was gonna hold out for the 500gb but hype got the better of me

Fucking scalpers will have a field day with this

I feel like they're jeopardising themselves here. If there won't be anymore Xbox One S stock until the lower prices bundles hit in late September/October, they going to have no momentum when the combo of a lower priced PS4 and the shiny new Neo hit the market.

They've still got loads of old Xbox to burn through and bigger hard drive SKUs are never big sellers. Sucks for people that missed it but Microsoft doesn't want to be lumped with stock not selling. 1TB and 500GB will be around the corner. Portable hard drive I guess, easier to jump to Scorpio with your games ;)

If MS execs see that the 2tb one is really popular then I'm sure they will do a re-run or make it standard. the thing is we don't know how many they made so its possible that its selling at a low rate compared to the 500GB & 1TB edition but so few were made that it seems like its popular.

So it's indeed a limited edition. My local store only got two units.

All the more reason for MS to hurry up and release the 500GB/1TB SKUs. Could there be a problem with the production? They can't produce enough units to launch the three SKUs at the same time, hence the time difference between them?

Nah, not buying that. They said it, but I'm certain there will be a "due to unprecedented demand..." statement before the holiday season.

We already know why they are doing this.

Which is to not have a XB1 price near Scorpio's price when Scorpio launches next year.

Makes sense when there's still plenty of stock available outside of the UK. Seems they overestimated demand quite a bit and underestimated demand in the UK.

I think it's likely they'll just make the 2TB model limited going forward to the LE bundle consoles. There's already a GoW one coming, so if they keep those ones up to maximise the profit margins, there's no reason to make them less special by making a regular 2TB going forward. I mean, that's why tey got it out before the 1TB and 500GB models. It's a terrible value proposition compared to those SKUs.

UK might get some more though if they take some from other countries in Europe where it's not selling. I think it's only us that sold out.

It's got nothing to with the UK leaving Europe that's not going to happen for 2 years, but which time more will be interested in the Scorpio !

Its got more to do with the 2TB being a limited launch model , before the cheaper systems come online

Glad I've got mine,i thought we knew they were limited...or am I wrong?.Either way seems a little daft, good job you can add extra storage if needed

"We will be sharing further details on other Xbox One S bundles and variations in the coming weeks." is nowhere near the same thing as saying "No more 2TB Xbox One S". Just means there are probably other bundles coming. Hopefully.

Because of course, all of Europe is living in an economic bubble for the next 2 years, where absolutely nothing changes as a result of the decision until the day Britain leaves, and no companies based in other regions will shift their business strategy to accommodate it whatsoever.

You've seen the British pound exchange rate since the vote to leave was announced right? The exchange rate the got worse last week after interest rates were cut.

I hear that share values don't ever change as a result of announced plans that haven't yet been implemented.

Yep, I don't even know what they're thinking sometimes but it's not sold out anywhere here in France, you can find it everywhere so they're probably waiting for the stock to disappear before sending more consoles...

I don't know what it is with Microsoft and Xbox hard drives.

They don't even have an overpriced proprietary version this time.

What are people supposed to do, have an external hard drive sticking out of their console?

I prefer external, but yeah, both should offer external and internal options.
