Two of my medals are labeled "punk girl" and "fairy tale girl" despite me choosing a male avatar.

It's been like this since day 1. Every time I see some achievement medal mention in the update I figure they're fixing that, but now I think:

1) it's supposed to be that way, which is odd
2) this is how it is for everyone and they haven't noticed yet
3) this is an odd bug for just some people

Anyone else have this?

So the nearby list actually works now? I know that it still doesn't track, but it works as in it actually shows you what Pokemon are nearby and they don't get stuck?

Being able to change names would be awesome if some goober didn't steal Kyzon from under me. What a lame-o

These medals are named after trainer classes from the main game. That's why you have gender specific names :P

I think someone way back in OT1 mentioned that these refer to specific trainers or trainer types in previous games (or the anime?) who specialized in that type of pokemon. Punk Girl, for example.

Just got the message saying I was going too fast while sitting on my couch.

The Earth is spinning too fast!

Leonard: "Raj, slow it down."

Raj: "*strains* How's that?"

Leonard: "That's good. Thanks."

One Pokemon spawns close enough to catch in my house an hour.

Hourly Pokemon is a Butterfree, never seen one before, use a berry, throw a great ball get an excellent throw...ball rocks once it breaks free and escapes...well that was disappointing

IOS - If I download offline map on Google map, will it save my data and battery? I heard on Android, it does save battery and data but I am not sure about iPhones.

It doesn't do anything on android. Android itself doesn't let apps do that, and it would also be against the google maps ToS :(

On my nearby list it showed (in order) pidgy, eevee, venomoth, ratata (and some others).

But I could only see the Pidgy, Eevee, and Ratata. So something is up. If the venomoth was correctly placed, and all those others were close enough to see, I should've seen the venomoth too.

Update, find a charmander in my house. Use a berry and it still runs away after 1 ball. Yeah, I think I'm done with this game until I hear it's improved.

The incubators you buy in the store are only 3-use, right? I wish there was a way to get another infinite incubator...but then, I suppose Niantic wouldn't be profiting as much from the temporary ones.

(I still haven't bought anything. I'm slowly increasing my coins by taking a gym each day. Up to 140 so far.)

So wait. Niantic identified three issues related to catching Pokemon in a recent tweet: throw accuracy, higher chance of escape, and missing XP bonuses. Today's patch notes say they fixed the accuracy of curveballs and the missing XP bonuses.

Nothing about the escape bug?

The increased escape rates, as far as we could tell, were caused by the bug that stopped the client from recognizing smaller circle sizes, which was also responsible for the missing xp.

In New Mexico for work. Wow is it a different ecosystem out here.

Ekans, Mankey, Geodude, Meowth, Sandshrew, Abra, Doduo, Ponyta and Growlithe all seem to be regulars. Such a change from the water based I'm used to seeing.

Literally one Pokestop though.

Apparently, the Sightings now only show one of each type of Pokémon. If that's the case, I highly doubt there's any order to the list.

Not the solution I was looking for regarding the tracker, but I guess it's progress...

Starters have always been hard to catch.

Thank god for the bans, had a lot of fun at the gym near my house just now, met two other team Instinct players and we're trying to defend it. There were Valor and Mystic players from other houses taking it back, but at the moment it's Instinct again with me and another guy.

I also recognized the username of a neighbor I've known for years, he's team Valor and was trying to take hold of the gym with a weak Charmander that I took down. He showed up on the window and we shot the shit. :lol So good. These are the times when the game truly shines for me.

Apart from the few days where there were one and two footprints, Nearby has never been sorted in any order at all.

Yeah, first Pokeball after the update is a low CP Zubat. Hit it was a curveball Pokeball..... It escapes and runs off straight away. Haha if people say the escape rate is lower that's great but honestly I'd rather they just remove running away altogether. I don't mind throwing a few balls as long as it actually works in the end.

Must be the same in general for most of the Southwestern states, since those are all every-day sightings here in CA. Lots of Cubones, too. How much does it vary from where you are from?

The lower catch rate and higher chance of escape was because throw bonuses were not being factored into catch rate. The catch rate didn't change per se, rather they didn't increase on throw bonuses. So Pokémon broke out of the ball more. The chance of running didn't increase either, but since the server executes the algorithm of whether the Pokémon will run every time it breaks out, obviously the run algorithm will be performed more often when the Pokémon are breaking out more.

Same thing in the suburban areas in Salt Lake City. However, downtown has way more variety.

Edit: Quoted wrong person lol

Cool.

EDIT: Maybe that was a loading error.

I just think the running mechanic is bullshit in general. Hey look, here's a super rare pokemon that you might see once every couple of months. Oh, it just ran away. Too bad.

It's anti-fun. There's no skill involved, there's no reason for it to exist other than Niantic being assholes.

Nearby updates a lot more again I've definitely noticed an improvement and I even found The vulpix I was looking for on the nearby list it seems to be a start but they are not fully there yet although I don't know what the fuck the point of the grasses on the icons cause it doesn't do anything it's just for style

GOSH DAMN LURES ARE STILL BROKEN!!!

We are at over a fucking week hundred percent magnamite and Voltorbs on the pokey stops it is complete bull shit

Makes it that more special when you have a high IV one with a good move set

I like it

What do people mean by high level Pokémon? So Pokemon have levels now like trainers? These IV websites are confusing, how can the IV range from 58-89%?

Oh wow. I hatched an Oddish on my jog today. 649 Oddish with either a 93.3% IV or a 95.6% IV. Just need 2 more Oddish and I can evolve!

It means the Pokemon's IV could be anywhere from 58% perfect to 89% perfect based on the numbers you see on your screen. It does have a fixed IV, but the calculators aren't able to determine what it is until you've levelled it up more. PokeAdvisor was able to tell exact IVs because it was getting that data from the Niantic servers in the same way as Pokevision, but Niantic is cracking down on third party tools with back-door access.
