Dragon Ball Super |OT3| Men in pink? How bizarre!

Reading back a few pages when you guys were talking about who has killed whom, it reminded me of this:

Yakon stands out in Goku's picture. If it weren't for him, Goku would have gone through all of DBZ without actually killing anyone, aside from Buu which he made sure would reincarnate quickly.

please explain to me how I am incorrect so I can obliterate your obviously wrong opinion ;)

With pleasure, MADAM.

First off, those insect wings look terrible. I mean, they're not even cool looking wings like Sephiroth's or Tabuu's. They're small, tiny, cricket looking.

Secondly, that weird thing on his head. What is that supposed to be? It makes his head all elongated and oblong. It's just weird.

Spoiler Rumor discussion:
OK does this Super Saiyan Rose stuff have any merit? Link

Is that going to be Goku Black's SS form? Edit: Apparently I can't read, that's what the article says...

A Pretty Panda

fuckin' called it, man
Are you not watching this show? Kid Trunks' hair is still purple and has been throughout the entire series. Only Future Trunks got a hair color change. If they wanted to "fix it to be like the manga" the series would have had Kid Trunks with blue hair from the start. So obviously the designers had other reasons for changing it.

See my second point where I mention the anime people are idiots.

Why didn't Future Trunks ever use the Dragon Balls to wish Gohan back to life?

That's a funny question. Why wouldn't he wish his dad or literally everybody else that died to be revived ?

Anyway, Piccolo died so the dragon balls disappeared.

Goku died long before they learned of New Namek. So Trunks was stuck on earth with no Dragon Ball.

Now granted, Goku could have helped him from the afterlife but I guess he stopped caring.

Aw how cute. He created 15 universes, destroyed 3 of them, but all he ever wanted was a friend.

Wait what.

And thus was the beginning of years of inconsistent power level debates again.

The preview for 55 also confirms
they're leaving for the future in that episode as well.

The cool thing about
Goku, Vegeta and Trunks going to the future is that they're (presumably) removing Beerus and Whis from the story. Those guys are the best thing to happen to this new era of Dragon Ball, but maybe they can bring back some of the tension when they're gone.

That's a bunch to chuck in one episode. Wonder if they'll slip in some more pilaf gang shinanigans in there somewhere.
Please don't toei
Zeno Sama is so cute...
He deserves a friend <3
Even Beerus can't say no to that cute face.

If I wanted to take a guess i'd say Goku's probably the first being to interact with Zeno and not be intimidated/scared by him and just treat him normally, which is why he's asking for Goku as a friend/playmate. I really like the dynamic of a God who created the multiverses and everything in them really just being like a little kid.

Which is kind of funny because Goku still acts like a little kid in Super.

This is sort of what i'm hoping with
Goku having a specific amount of sensu beans, the Dragon Balls not being in the Future (unless they find New Namek) and Beerus and Whis out of the picture. It creates tension and more risk which Dragon Ball hasn't really had since Battle of Gods.

Yeah, the story really needs this.

Yeah, but there's always Zemo Sama on the picture, he is omnipresent afterall

pilaf's gang won't sneak onto the time machine with the three saiyans to provide some much needed comic relief in the dystopian wasteland that is trunks' future

after life peeps never talking to future trunks (and future gohan!) to guide him was always weird

goku really didn't give a fuck

still expecting the kaiohshin that contacted future trunks to kill dabura and babidi to be revealed to be zamasu...it is odd they bothered to redraw babidi and dabura but not the kaiohshin, and he didn't even get a speaking role. future trunks just mentioned him

also future trunks didn't go with goku and beerus and whis to universe 10, so when FT sees zamasu it will be the first time they meet

does black even have a ki that ft can feel? ft very specifically didn't feel ssgss vegeta

Black snatched him up so fast.

But also Goku really didn't give a fuck

never mind black, how about guiding future son gohan to train better so he can reach ssj2 as an adult and beat the androids. never mind ssj2! just tell gohan to stay as a ssj for a full year before going to fight the androids, to see if that will do the trick

future gohan is ridic weak, probably due to the lack of guidance from any teacher at all, but his father was happily in the afterlife winning fighting tournaments for his kaioh

I hope they spend at least 15 episodes in the future. Make it a long, epic story. It would suck if they're just going to fight and end it quick.

Also I think they should revive everyone in Trunks' timeline before ending the arc. Goku knows where Namek is, he could theoretically just use instant transmission to go there and wish for everything to be back to normal.

They probably won't needs Pilaf's crew when they got Future Mai already in the future.

Trunks couldn't sense Black because he doesn't know how to sense god ki.

I fully expect either the super dragon balls, or the future namekian dragon balls, to be used to undo all of Black's damage to future earth

Goku died from the heart virus a year before the Androids showed up. He didn't know the Earth was in danger at first.

I guess he would know after all his former comrades start showing up in the afterlife (except Vegeta who would go to hell). Maybe Super will explain this plothole, if Black really is dead Future Goku's body.

ok then, I expect a scene where FT just salutes zamasu normally while goku and vegeta just raise their brows until they fall off their heads

I fully expect either the super dragon balls, or the future namekian dragon balls, to be used to undo all of Black's damage to future earth

with the super dragon balls they could easily overshoot and have the whole timeline eliminated

I guess he would know after all his former comrades start showing up in the afterlife (except Vegeta who would go to hell). Maybe Super will explain this plothole, if Black really is dead Future Goku's body.

aaah I like how you think

I don't think he'll get involved too much personally. He strikes me as a being who just makesure the gods are doing their jobs properly and everything's running alright in the multiverses. I guess with Black messing around with timelines a bit that does give him a reason to be involved, but I feel like that'd be a easy writeout if he became personally involved in the situation.

Goku continues to be the best dad of all time.

Yeah this would be pretty neat, especially considering they're going back to older scenes and filling in the gaps a bit (showing Super Vegeta being obtained for the first time, Trunks giving Bulma his Time Machine capsule etc.)

black being goku's dead body opens the door to black being healed, and left living as good goku in the dark future of future trunks

where he and future bulma -who somehow survived- meet and marry

cue past vegeta reviving his hate for goku

And thus Bulla was born and Goku has yet another child to neglect.

Jokes aside I really hope Future Trunks gets his happy ending this time and everyone from his future gets revived. He deserves it.

ok i genuinely love that zeno is contacting goku because he wants
a friend. everyone else acts all scared to fuck of him, goku treated him like an equal and was super friendly. actually makes sense.

watch out i'm about to use the shift key

I'd like to preface this by saying that one of the reasons why I enjoy Cell's design, (In particular, perfect Cell) is because it is a product of editorial telling Toriyama to try harder. The whole reason why Cell transforms in the first place is because Toriyama's editor told him that his first two Cell designs were not cool enough. And you know what? He was right. As much as I like the very inhuman-buglike Imperfect Cell, Perfect Cell is an incredibly good design. I'm not going to comment on Semi-Perfect Cell too much because I feel like the wrong direction was being granted in his design process, but he does share some similarities. Perfect Cell is a result of Toriyama being forced to refine his concept and it is very successful. Toriyama having to redesign and "perfect" his concept gels very well with the whole concept of the villain itself. Usually the transformation device is pretty lazy, but Cell is probably the best example of transformations being used well. Usually editorial interference in most things is fucking annoying but I think this is one of the few cases in which it was needed.

Obviously people have very rational criticisms of the story of the Cell saga (not ones that I really agree with, but rational nonetheless) but I'm talking about Cell from a purely concept art and design perspective.

The wings: The wings work on a conceptual and design level. Conceptually cell is supposed to be a creepy, gross, horrific bug, so he has bug wings. I know you're being glib, but it would betray the entire concept of the character if he had these beautiful angelic detailed wings. I for one, am appreciative of the fact that Cell doesn't have the horrifically cliche anime ~angel wings~. Also, the wings function perfectly on a design level, as they contribute to what I think is one of the coolest silhouettes in Dragonball, which employs an effective use of a triangle motif. This lends the design a really balanced sense of shape harmony, which is something that Toriyama didn't really nail down with Freiza until his final form. Again, S.P. Cell kind of loses track of this, but It's still present:

Of course, inside the form of Cell (in the lines and details instead of the overall shape in silhouette) He uses much rounded shapes that are present in Toriyama's more typical designs. Having a a clear, recognizable silhouette with large, simple shapes allows for interesting detail such as the spots. Also, the silhouette needs to be clear from far away, so in distance shots of Cell fighting or doing something, it reads immediately. Another example of a good use of the triangle motif is the Saiyan Saga, apparent in the Saiyan armor designs and Vegeta and Radditz's hair.

This brings me to your point about the crown. Again, it is a part of the overall triangular motif. It also serves two different design functions: to provide a gestural "flow" of direction that draws attention to Cell's face, and to provide a "rest" area of low detail and large shapes that would contrast with the high detail and small shapes of Cell's face. Luckily, there are sketches that Toriyama has done which perfectly illustrates this, and why having Cell without the crown is less effective:

602cc895ee57c056a9d2a42bfa6c77aa.jpg

And yeah, it does look "weird", but that is the whole point! I could also get into how the color choices and patterns are another cool aspect of Cell's design (and why it's part of the reason Perfect Cell is the best out of the three) but this post is already too long and I wanted to address your two points.

I'm also not claiming that Toriyama was actively thinking about any of this, but I think it's pretty evident that great design is just a part of his instinct. While I enjoy GT, this is why the character designs that are not Toriyama's just look sooooo lame in comparison. You can copy the way he draws faces, hands or poses, but you cannot emulate the man's intuition.

Hm, for some reason I thought the time machine didn't have the capacity for more than 1 person.

Ok now I remember. Cell had to revert to larval form to fit in the time machine.
So how is the time machine going to fit 3 people?

Just watched the newest episode...been waiting forever to see a vegeta/ftrunks episode like that, Trunks is such a better son then gohan, no wonder goku basically gave up on him. He clearly enjoys vegetas family moments more then his own :p

Can't blame him, Goku spent more time with Bulma than anyone else in the series except for Grandpa Gohan and Kaio. Tis a fact.

Cell is pretty huge. Taller than Goku and Goku himself is taller than Trunks and Vegeta (who's a midget).

Should't Beerus be out destroying planets or napping?

Dude has lived for over 75 million years... The few DB Super years are nothing to him.

Should't Beerus be out destroying planets or napping?

It's not like beerus is always destroying worlds, he has huge cooldown periods and long naps which is why we only know about him now and not in Z.

Also the whole addicted to earth food thing and getting friendly with the earthlings, I feel like it's changed him a little.
