Sony announces gamescom Lineup - including 17 playable VR titles

Hope to see something new about GTS, not only old tracks in a new build. I want some information and gameplay about other tracks, weather and night.

Hopefully they show the dirt track off. Kaz mentioned at Chinajoy that they've worked on various types of mud for the course. So it's going to be a big improvement over the rally courses in the rest of the series where it's all one note in terms of surface.

Blog say's 'presented directly from the developers with exclusive live gameplay demos'. Hopefully we get some new gameplay footage. Would love to see some night time Horizon footage that was shown briefly in the trailer.

Blog also says there will be 50 PSVR stations along with 15 Racing seats for GT Sport.

I hope Days Gone is actual new footage, and not just another take on the logging yard mission from a different angle.

And yeah, I would love to see more of Horizon including a proper look at the open world there too. They've talked about mountainous regions, jungles and all sorts, and I'd love to have a taster of all that. On the other hand, I'm probably going to force myself on a media blackout as I know I'll be getting it regardless!

I'm curious to hear impressions of Until Dawn: Rush of Blood. I thought that game would be a really good fit for VR.

Until Dawn: Rush of Blood does not play anything like Until Dawn, you can think of it more like a 'house of horrors ghost train'. The footage already released looks like its completely on rails.

I'm there for VR day 1, but please keep 15 of these tech demos and cook up a whole game instead.

Where is Driveclub?

Know what Sony, keep all those games and give me WipEout VR instead. Please.

People will be very disappointed by PSVR and I hope it wont shift the perception of this amazing technology.

No Driveclub?

Why Sony?
Rushy said DriveClub VR is being done by the same team that made DriveClub. I think Sony worked out a deal with Codemasters and they are letting Rushy and his team finish their work on DC VR.

That said, it would be weird to have an Evolutions Studio rep out at Gamescom pimping a game from a studio that they canned just a couple of months ago. Press would undoutedly ask about this arrangement and might create a distraction sony obviously wouldnt want at Gamescom.

The new GT pods look really nice

The hell are you talking about? PSVR is perfectly fine and people have been trying it for over a year with mostly good things to say about it.

No SuperHyperCube demo? Hope it's still on track for launch release.

Yes, it is

Edit:
It's really not. The PS4 is not powerful to produce nice graphics with a good enough iq and the tracking is horrible.

Oh boy, we got either an elitest or a graphics whore here.

Since when has VR ever been about graphics or iq, it's about immersion.

Also PSVR headset and aim controller tracking beg to differ on your tracking statement.

You will learn about the correlation between immersion and IQ in regards to VR soon enough I guess.

I wonder how much of a game that Miku thing will be. I'm not really interested in an ogling simulator, but I think an actual Project Diva game in VR could be kind of rad.

Even though I cancelled my PSVR pre-order (too many regular games coming for me to justify the VR price tag right now), I am glad they are at least pushing it and not sending out to die.

Hopefully it demo's well.

I guess Gamescom is getting seriously sideroaded in favor of PGW, although the VR push is probably logical I guess.

The idea could have been that by now if VR on PC had really caught on fire it would be buzzed about everywhere, trending on social media and commonly referenced and talked about on other medias, but instead... Pokemon Go.

So yeah, with a PSVR October release, PGW right after that, and a dedicated event in September for the new hardware... Tough go for Gamescom and non VR PS4 games it seems.

As someone with great interest in Titanfall 2, PSVR, and the PS4K, I'm almost looking forward to Gamescon more than I was E3.

Bring it on.

I expect PGW will have a similar focus on VR, as will all Sony events this year. I would not be surprised if the same PSVR and GT Sport racing setups are also at PGW.

It really is. Have you tried PSVR, or are you simply talking out of your ass? I've got 4 tries under my belt so far with it and it's easily good enough.

Tracking with the headset is spot on. During the Ocean Descent demo I spent the entire time spinning around to track the shark as it circled me and it didn't falter in the least. Looking straight up and straight down, looking behind me, and very rapid head movements - everything was very precise.

Image quality was quite good. The first 3 times I went to try it I kept telling myself I was going to try and pay extra special attention to the graphics, but each time the experience was good enough to just draw me into the world and I didn't give a crap about the graphics at that point. Only on my last try did I force myself to pay attention to the graphics and despite some slight aliasing here and there and SDE in menus (barely noticeable in-game unless you're specifically looking out for it), the graphics held up very well.

I'm excited to see how Neo's going to build upon this.

I have, thought it was cool.

A nice looking shark is one thing, GT in VR a completely different story. Looking at what it takes to get project cars to look good in VR I remain skeptical.

The neo sure will help a lot.

I meant the tracking of the motion controls btw.

Nice, what did you try?

Specifically what are you using as a basis for this negative proclamation you've made that PSVR on PS4 is not enough to produce nice graphics? Based on what I've seen so far, it is.

Have you experienced GT on PSVR to say it won't look nice?

I meant the tracking of the motion controls btw.

I haven't tried Move with it yet, but just the tracking on the DS4 when I was in Battlezone was spot on. I have watched several people using Move with London Heist, including one of my friends. The controls were precise in those instances. They had no trouble with fine movements like adjusting the radio, picking up the can of pop and tossing it from hand to hand, grabbing replacement magazines without even having to look at them... so no, you are again wrong here.

Is it going to be AS precise as PC alternatives? No, but it doesn't have to be. It's more than precise enough for the mainstream public.

Bound VR and Here They Lie are Santa Monica Studio External Development projects. We're proud to see their developers in Plastic and Tangentlemen respectively pushing their projects in very unique ways in PSVR. It's been amazing partnering with them. You may not know a ton about our External Development team, let alone our connection to Bound and Here They Lie, but these are 2 of the most unique games in our Ex Dev history we've partnered on.

Seeing the world in Bound that Plastic created in VR is like walking into modern art museum where every fabric of the environment around you is moving.

Here They Lie, no lies here, it will send chills strong enough to knock you out of your seat, but it's not necessarily because things unexpectedly jump out at you. I of course won't spoil the universe Tangentleman have created, but it is surreal.

If you're at Gamescom, be sure to check them out. Love to hear your thoughts back here if you do. Cheers

Excellent. Is Bound VR a separate purchase, or can we buy Bound next week and get the update for VR free when it's out?
