Deus Ex: Mankind Divided I Review Thread I I asked for this

If the story is kind of crappy like these early reviews indicate, I think I'll pass. Story is a big part of these kinds of games for me. Maybe I'll get it on sale in the future :)

Update:
They kind of mixed things up after looking at the source code. They upscaled the 1080p PS4 picture to 4k for the comparison. The "FullHD Slider" moniker is false here.

edit: they are talking about good PS4 and X1 performance though.

What's the point in rescaling a PS4 image to 4K resolution?

Yeah, this doesn't make PS4 looks awful.

Love HR to death, so it looks like I'm in for a treat.
Have neither time or funds for it right now though, so I might wait a promo or when I have more disposable funds& time :)

Expecting an overall mid to high 80's at this point, which is about par with HR.

So Jeff's review for GB painted it as a safe followup to HR. A little more polished, but not adding much for those who have already played HR. As someone who has never played HR, maybe I'll come away more impressed if I just jump into the series with Mankind Divided?
Can't tell since like the rest of us I haven't played the game yet. But if you plan on jumping in with this game you could at least check out the official recap of Human Revolution:

Part 1
Part 2

One of those reviews says there is still atleast one

Developed in-house this time though, the first game's boss fights were outsourced to another studio.

I wouldn't worry about them. Edits Montreal was well aware of how the first game's fights were received.

TB alluded to this being GOTY. If you're a Deus Ex fan, that's all you need to know

He did not

This is hype culture at its finest to skip out the context of the tweet and establish this as the narrative. Minutes after that post, hes said he was still waiting on a review copy. All he did was comment on someone saying Doom must be game of the year at this point.

Is Prague really the only hub in the game?

Worst yet, the scenario layout for the main missions is easily described as uninspired, lazily slapping shortcuts all over the place. Granted, there are various ways to approach each area, but every single scenario is broken down in the exact same way where there’s far too many open grates to hide in and easily accessible security terminal to gain access to.

I remember this being a bit of an issue in HR too. Practically sign-posted "Hackers this way, stealthers the other way"

Man, ever since the Fox engine and MGSV I have become increasingly annoyed with developers who can't be bothered to optimize their games.

What I am really disappointed about hearing is
The fact that there is only one hub.... city hubs felt like incredible "lived in" worlds and were my favorite parts of the previous games :(. Hopefully its one huge city hub at the very least to compensate.

Hello, my name is Yves Guillemot, Vivendi S.A.'s Employee of the Month!
PS4 version looks different, not mind blowing territory but decent and the environments are very intricate and detail.

Over at USgamer, I gave it a 4/5. Played it on PC.

GTX 970 - 1080p High - 49-60 FPS.

Cool, thanks. I didn't see much mention of what you thought of the story and themes in the review. What did you think? And how did the whole "oppression" angle work out?

I hope DF does a frame rate test for this part of the city. When you're exploring it sort of open world, the frame rate is quite bad on the PS4 when you run, constant drops and stutters

A bit less of a barn burner than I had anticipated, but still looking forward to it. I'm perfectly happy with more of the same, having rarely revisited HR since its initial release makes me just stoked to get back into that world.

Bummer that the story is something people all seem to dislike.
It's the main hook for me, apart from being able to do a non lethal play through.

Go to DOOM for the mechanics, Deus Ex for the story.

Went to "maybe wait for a sale" from "Day 1"

Fun fact: Deus Ex Invisible War has a metascore of 84% on Xbox. Times sure did change (in terms of game review scoring).
Yeah review scores have come down to earth a bit over the last 3-4 years which is only a good thing in my opinion. Surprising that there's still so many who haven't picked up on it.

Not seeing any comment about bad pc performance in the reviews... good stuff.
Storywise, let's recall that it's seem like the Witcher 3 situation, many reviewer point out that they found the side-quest more engaging than main story.
