Today, Nintendo announced its plans for PAX West, which runs Sept. 2-5 in Seattle.

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As PAX West rapidly approaches, Nintendo has a lineup featuring RPGs, indie games and lots of fun. The video game show, which runs Sept. 2-5 at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, gives fans a chance to check out a variety of new and upcoming content on Nintendo platforms for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Nintendo will have two booths, one featuring activities with Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, as well as playable games like Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past and YO-KAI WATCH 2 and another booth dedicated to our talented Nindie partners showcasing awesome first playable experiences such as Punch Club (tiny Build Games), Runbow Pocket (13AM Games), Severed (Drinkbox Studios) and World to the West (Rain Games).

Some of the highlights Nintendo is planning for PAX West include:

Additionally, all attendees will have access to EMP’s Indie Game Revolution exhibit, which includes newly installed titles from the Nintendo independent community. The Nindies@Night event takes place 8 p.m.-midnight on Sept. 1 at the EMP Museum, 325 Fifth Ave. N in Seattle.
  • Indie Lounge at PAX West: For anyone who wasn’t able to make it to the Nindies@Night event, we are bringing the same playable Nindie content to PAX West in the convention center on the sixth floor in Room 612. Developers will be there to demonstrate their games and answer questions, and giveaway free swag. Indie Lounge hours are noon-9 p.m. Friday to Sunday, and noon-6 p.m. on Monday.

Didn't they do a live stream last year (with some little indie announcements in between)?
Doesn't look like it's planned for this year?

Wow, no Zelda?

Zelda will skip a lot of (if not all) conventions/expos in the coming weeks.

It wasn't public at Gamescom, so obviously it wasn't going to be public at PAX.
But they at least announced The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild would be present at gamescom. This press release features no mention of the game, but I suppose more details could be made available later if the game will be there in some capacity.

Slowly but surely, Nintendo is killing people softly with no NX reveal announcement.

Back on topic, the lineup looks similar to Gamescom but with the addition of Gurumin 3D.

They can perfectly say something about NX (date or whatever) before that, not sure why people think PAX would block that.

Good lineup.

Yeah, statistically that's the case. There will be people that will die between now and the reveal of the NX that really wanted to know what the NX is but will never know.

I wonder if there'll be some new stuff shown for pokémon Sun & Moon or not.

None of the first party titles will be playable, but I'm sure they'll still be showing them off.

They're sneaking in playable versions of DQ7 and Yo-Kai Watch 2 in their booth. Seems like Nintendo might be focusing on the 3rd parties to try and whet their Nintendo appetite going into the NX. Gotta earn their respect back somehow!

Pretty sure it will launch in 2017. They cannot release a Wii U game in 2018. And the game looks to be pretty far along.

Why couldn't they? They've released games for previous systems for years after the successors came out since the SNES.

Wii U is already dead now. They won't keep the production facilities up for much longer, not even for games. In addition, they need games for NX to avoid long droughts again. So why delay this title which seems to be already quite far in terms of localisation?

Tokyo 2020 will be the NX announcement at the opening ceremony. After years waiting, the entire world will be BTFO at the same time.

Nintendo doesn't do Tokyo Game Show do they? I would expect them to make an announcement about the NX there.

How about instead of focusing on the lack of NX, which was really predictable, we focus on the cool games from small studios that will be on display?

Last year's Nindies event was really fun, so I'm looking forward to this year's.

Nintendo is lucky to have all the indies they have supporting the WiiU, without them they're wouldn't be much to say. NX cannot come soon enough.

The person you quoted initially was saying they were afraid the Wii U version of the game would be delayed again alongside the NX's possible delay... which would make sense, considering they delayed the Wii U version already to release alongside the NX version, and generalized both versions of Zelda to a "2017" release date. I took your "2018" as an exaggeration, but I'm fairly certain that the generic release year is so that if the NX gets delayed into late-ish 2017 there's no "delay" on Zelda since it's still 2017. They won't release the game for Wii U before the NX, because they likely feel like Zelda is a system seller, and having the experience available for the Wii U prior to the NX launch would likely hurt sales.

I fully expect Wii U games to continue releasing into 2018 and maybe even beyond. Maybe not from Nintendo, but developers support older systems for a long time.

They won't exhibit at Tokyo Game Show 2016, and the keynote schedule is full (no Nintendo participation).

We don't really know when in 2017 Zelda will be released, it hasn't been announced as a launch title. So a delay would be 2018, which I very much doubt.

Maybe some digital games from indies. But at retail? Even this year, there are only 6 retail releases left, with two of them being indie rereleases. Have there been any 2017 games announced (apart from Zelda)?

That's a good point, which I missed somehow in your initial response to the guy. I agree!
