This occurred to me in at least the last beta (3.0 or whatever), if not before as well. It happened again w/ 4.0 but not the update that came out today.

I gave the new quick/share menus a whirl earlier while playing Black Ops 3 with friends. It's not even funny how much more streamlined and snappy they feel now. Easily my favourite things about this update.
I personally like the white notifications, they pop out better which is kind of what I want when I'm being notified about something.

Folders and quick menu are nice. I would love some actual great features and services to be added. It seems like it just isn't happening with playstation.
What feature and services they've to add?

got 2 crashes playing Destiny since updating to 4.00 beta 3 from last non beta (in less than 4 hours of playtime).
one seemed like the usual firefly bug but the other happened while moving stuff from the vault in the vestian outpost... which seems strange.
anyone else?
That has nothing to do with the update. Destiny servers were having problems. I got the same thing.

I know backwards compatability is a stretch, changing my psn name, external hard drive support, game gifting, be able to download custom themes, turning the light bar off.
When it comes down to it I want Sony to surprise me. Shareplay for example is an amazing feature. I hope they can hit us with something like that again. You know, big substantial features. I'd really enjoy something like Xbox Ones Snap feature, PS3's Home feature or maybe something interesting happening with the trophies you unlock.

I can't see Cell emulation ever happening on PS4. PS2 and PS1 backwards compatibility would be nice, but how many customers still have their PS2 and PS1 discs? Weighing that against the fact that they're selling emulated PS2 games already on the PlayStation Store, and the fact that the PS4 laser might not ever be able to read PS1 discs... I think it's all a long shot unfortunately.
I'm pretty sure that will happen, that's the most requested feature. I don't need it, but I feel bad for people who were kids when the PS3 released and now regret choosing pre-pubescent style names
That would be nice I guess. You can already just upgrade the internal drive though, so Sony might not see it as a high priority.

Not sure why Sony are so dead set against it. You should at least be able to turn it off if there's only one controller being used, and they could set the controller to auto power off in a certain amount of time if the light bar was dimmed.
I think that goes against their whole fast, pared back philosophy with the PS4 OS, so I don't see it happening.
It made them a lot of money, so I'm not sure why they haven't opted for something similar on PS4. Maybe they thought it was too much of a resource drain for something outside of their core business.
What sort of things would you like to see there?
That's not going to happen, Sony flat out told EA it wasn't going to happen. They see it as a competitor to PS+.

BTW, the ability to delete multiple save games is a godsend thants to the ability to select multiple items now.. Last time I had to get inside each game and remove every file. A real pain when you are doing a cleanup from saves generated by demos or plus titles you only try once.
Regarding one of the two new themes, the one that is so light blue that hurts the eyes. Is it like the old colour them in PSP and PS3 that changed colour every month? Although I can't find an option to manually pick the colour like with the flow them.
Later today I will do some more exploratory testing. I need to confirm that the discover notifications have stopped reappearing. Also to check if there is a multiple selection for deleting items from the download list.

No but the the library has predefined filters such as Games > Apps which will only show those downloaded, so if you've deleted the beta and you go to Games rather than purchased, you won't see the betas
Folder icons seriously need to be transparent. They look fine on the default theme but really stick out here.
Want me to post in the beta forum?

I really like the white icons. Also the two new themes are very cool (particles is my theme of choice.) I'm also testing out the 60fps streaming now with DQ Heroes 2 (for 30 mins more or so. No idea how it looks though.) (https://youtu.be/tWdYqaqOoPQ)

Voucher? I was already on the 4.0 beta (2?) and was notified of beta 3 while in the XMB. The webpage that came up didn't state anything new that I could see.
I remember someone arguing that folders weren't needed and the 15 icon limit was more than enough. Then I see this image and feel slightly sad that I lack the wordage to explain how wrong they were.

You can change the email associated with it.
I think that they'll release this firmware at the start of September. We are currently at beta 3 and for the last firmware tested the last tested build.
I don't think that it will be released on September 7 o 14 when the slim will be on the market, it doesn't make any sense except for overload the servers.

Don't use folders at all, as their design is somewhat turning me off ^^
