Can anyone comment on how this looks on xbone for them? The weird non native resolution and upscaling has me scared. Xbox One resolution is 1380 x 1080 from all reports.. Does this look like a blurry mess or?

Unfortunately blurry mess yeah :/
Try the demo and see it by yourself.

Huh but I'm agreeing with you that the same plays repeat themselves? I think the only thing we aren't agreeing on is the cause of it. You said ball physics and I said the cause was ai but I'm no longer sure what we were discussing anymore.

I was the one who cited ball physics, think the other guy was just chiming in haha. But yeah I'm willing to accept it's the AI rather than ball physics, like I said I haven't played FIFA in a few years so not too familiar with it at this point.

On the pitch is fine, but stadium shots are quite blurry. Didn't bother me much, as I'm used to it from last years.

Only had the one go at the demo, but it's convinced me to hold off from buying until it goes on sale, just didn't feel much improvement over 2016 and the menu's outdated look still bugs me. I'll cope with FIFA 16 (still got stuff to do on that) and FIFA 17's EA Access trial until then.

So is this as good as PES16? I play on PS4 and PES16 was so good that I won't be buying FIFA for the first time since 2011.

If PES17 is more of the same I will be very happy.

Also I know we get 2 MyClub 80+ Agents for having 2 players over 90 in 16. Are there any day one bonuses like last years ToTY player/200,000 MyClub Points?

Pes 16 played better to me. This one feels too much like FIFA. Also, those motion blurred 30fps replays are disgusting.

So how is the PC version this year? Same as last year, no fox engine? Liking the PS4 demo though so I'll get it on PS4 again if the PC version is lacking again

Really suprised anyone could say Pes 16 plays better than this. There are so many improvements over last year's game especially in ball physics, the keepers and the physical play.

Personally I think it's better. Refs and keepers are much better, it feels more free, shooting is improved and the graphics have had a bit of a bump (I especially like the little details like shirt names/numbers reflecting light differently to the shirt itself, to emphasise that they're different material and not just part of the shirt texture).

Replays have improved as well, besides the excessive motion blur. You can actually see where the ball is this year.

There are no gameplay differences that I'm aware of, it's solely graphical features that are missing

It's a "Hybrid" Version, so graphics and gameplay are altered

We can't even get a demo, that tells you everything

Same shit "hybrid" as last year

The demo was canned after someone managed to release a tool for one of the past demos to unlock every team in the game for friendly matches.

It's not really an excuse because it should have been designed in a way where the other teams weren't even in the code to unlock, but that's their reasoning behind delayed or nonexistent PC demos these days as far as I'm aware.

"Feels more free" is the deal sealer for me, I think.

I'm one of those who thinks FIFA tends to feel a little canned. For me, this PES demo has all the fluidity and pace of FIFA without what feels like the pre-determined outcomes when shooting from certain angles etc. I'm sure longer term play will uncover "methods" of familiarity the same as anything else, but for now it feels entirely natural.

Had so many moments on this demo already where the ball feels like a proper, actual independent object. So many occasions where a little deflection or the direction and behaviour of the ball has felt so unique. I've scored (and conceded) some brilliant looking goals where nothing about any of them has looked or felt pre-determined.

Wish there was a demo for PC to see how stripped it is, but I'm certainly not paying their ludicrous PC prices on Steam when it's a "hybrid" without a demo

Shame, since I'm enjoying the xbox one version, but that isn't much better. FIFA takes all my time on console since I play clubs with friends.

I played a more few matches and I'm still liking it, but not loving it.

My biggest complains how AI never clears the ball from defense or try a long ball play if you're pressuring them in their defense field. I played a Boca x River match and I won at least five tackles on their field just because they refused to clear the damn ball, they prefer to lose the ball if they don't have a good short pass option than to clear the danger...I hate this!

But there's some good stuff...

AI looks less OP when shooting...I'm actually seeing my GK making some good saves and AI shooting away. In 15/demo 16 they usually never attacked but scored in every damn shoot. I understand that they have to balance for a 10 minute game, but still.

I complained earlier about Atletico not pressing high enough even losing the game...but I actually saw teams playing different. I had a Barcelona x River match(I lost 0-1 after a failed short goal kick) and River really tried to park the bus with all the team defending in their penalty area and then quickly try fast passing to counter-attack(never tried long passes, though :() and later I played Boca x River and they really played more open and tried a slower approach to build their plays...which failed because they refused to clear the ball when I pressured their defense(yup, I hate this!). I also had matches against France and Germany and they really played different from Atletico, which is good, but also bad that Atletico never changed their game to try to tie the game and I hope to see this more on the full game, as I remember playing WE:pES 2007 and AI going full attack mode with some crazy 4-2-4, that never worked but it was pretty cool to see them try.

Another improvement is that AI actually try more tackles and miss them, causing yellow cards and fouls. Refs are not great, but I also understand they're giving more yellows to balance with the usual game time.

I'll keep playing and trying new things, I really want to like this.

In other news, Konami and CBF will sign a contract for the licensed league in the game and Konami already has the license for all the 20 clubs.

Still not one & done like the PS2, but you can copy edit data which will consist of created leagues, players, etc.

If it isn't as tedious as last year that'll be great.

I spent 3 hours on just the Premier League last year. I honestly don't mind applying the data to each team and such, but changing all the colors and shit so that certain things like under armor sleeves would match was tedious as hell.

I don't think I could do it again. Well, I could, but I don't want to haha.

Also, I never tried last year, but can you put MLS into the game and play it via Master League (on PS4)? With Atlanta United arriving next year that's the biggest draw of FIFA for me. However, if I can put MLS and Atlanta into PES 17 via an option file, I may go with PES.

You had to manually create players and leagues yourself on 2016, but that won't be the case this year (they'll be of OF's on PS4 on 2017). Adding kits will be easier as well, as you won't have to select collar type, fonts, etc.

Good stuff.

Might have to pick it up if the FIFA demo lets me down.

Are they gonna stick to that promise this year though? OF's on PS4 is a seller on there for me, especially with the great work the PESfan forum does

You would like to think so with it being on the official site and not just something the Brand manager has said on a whim like last yr.

Any idea how this or last years version performed online? I play Fifa online against my brother. The last few PES games that I purchased didn't work well online. Are these better?

Apparently the demo can be played online using Shareplay. I'm not sure how much of a representation that will give of release when the servers are more populated, though.

Surprised there isn't more hype for this. Judging from the gameplay vids this looks amazing. cant wait to try the demo later this weekend.

Played 10+ match today, love it for the AI opponent.
Every team felt a little different, they make mistake even at highest difficulty. The randomness still there after 2 days, very well done.
Press option button to skip replay still sucks, transition not as fast as fifa, kill the pacing a bit.

The last few years the game has been fairly smooth online (on my connection anyway). The only thing they lacked were decent filters, so you end up playing Real Madrid or Barcelona pretty much every time as well as people using the highest passing assist level.

I'm really hoping they've added decent online filters in PES 2017 though, especially if they want the series to become more popular.

Best footy game ever made and now even easier to add the authentic kits. The game plays like a dream and every player feels individual. Fifa still hasn't managed that and on top of everything the faces look even better.

Same actually, I'm legit surprised by the amount of posts in this thread that don't appear keen on it. What with PES being on an upward trend for a few years now, and this being - in my opinion of the demo - the best of those by a margin.

Anecdotally, I'm seeing a few of the PS2 era old guard popping up on Facebook and in person commenting on this too. This demo seems to be capturing the attention of lapsed PES players in a way I've not personally noticed for years.

I played the demo a few times and it does feel amazing to play. That classic PES feeling. With option files being a thing, the only thing they need to nail is the online play. But definitely very interested in PES this year.

When's the FIFA demo out?

Hopefully KONAMI don't fuck the main game up

They have a habit of making a great demo, and then weakening it somehow with the full game

Facts. Came in expecting decent and got the GOAT, didn't think Konami cared enough to have it in them anymore.

I've been trying out manual passing. In previous years i didn't think the gameplay at it's core was good enough to justify the extra effort but i've been really enjoying getting to grips with it here, and i know some people swear by it. Think i'm gonna practise with the demo and try and make the switch when the game comes out.

Hopefully they've done a better job of implementing stamina gauges or something to punish players who spam high press. It's so boring when you go up against someone who uses CPU to press the player who has the ball while tracking a runner with the player controlled by him. I mean you can still beat people who do that but it's an OP tactic, especially with the button delay that's usually present online.

Holy shit this game is amazing. Only playing the ps3 demo, can't wait to try it on the ps4. This is easily the best football game created this generation in terms of pure gameplay. Holy fuck I might buy this.
