ReCore |OT| Rock Your Core for a Prime Bot

I played it for about 30 minutes and i enjoyed it. Funny if anyone watched that stream with major nelson and the failure or that dash through the gate where it took the guy 10 or so times..i did it the first go. No idea what that guy was doing

Best Buy shipped my copy a little early so I ended up getting it today, will post some impressions once I get it installed and dig into it a bit.

This is Aaron Greenbergs Twitter header hahaha

Saw some gameplay videos but the framerate on Xbox One does not look great. Same goes for the IQ. But seeing it is the Unity engine it does not surprise me at all. The game has that typical clunky Unity engine look. The track record for good performances in Armature games is also pretty low. So everything as expected I guess.

Reviews didn't dissuade me but I watched karaks review, jeez this game looks rough than dmx on a crack binge
I guess I'll get 2k instead
Looking forward to impressions though hopefully it turns out okay

Watched lots of footage, read most reviews. Seems like a game with heart, charm, and filled with nostalgia gaming ways of old. Yeah it has some tech issues, but I'm alright with that. Still super excited to jump into this and best yet take my time with it. I know review codes went out pretty late for this, IGN review isn't up yet because of that, and not that it means some reviewers rushed it to discount their reviews, but I know that can affect some peoples experience in games (least I know it has for me in my experience getting games late for review to check them out. )

Did anyone not have to download a patch? I bought it after it was released and the whole game size was 6.1 gb..but people were saying there was a 6gb patch aswell, unless it redownloaded the whole game for them?

Lol "Factual Opinions"

Awesome review though, you posts and videos have single handedly gotten me excited about this game. It doesn't seem like a huge AAA game, but that hasnt really been what I've been itching for. Can't wait to play. Keep up the videos.

Yeah I can be stubborn with what I think is good, figure that'd be a good name for my reviews going forward. Thanks for the kind words and this game is still awesome, 20 hours in.

So if I take my time, this game will last more then the 6 to 7 hours quite a few reviews were saying. Makes me think some people did indeed rush it since review code went out Friday and embargo was today....

Absolutely interested in playing it for myself. Seems like most of the knocks against it seem to be technical issues. We don't get these type of games much anymore, so I'm in whenever amazon decides to deliver it to me tomorrow.

Tempted... but after the No Man's Sky debacle I think I'll wait for a consensus this time. Still, I think it looks like a good game!

My copy should arrive tomorrow. If anything I guess it will be a blast from the past with all that AA charm.*

Or I'll give it a few hours and promptly trade it in ASAP if it is somehow worse than my already low expectations

This is sounding like a game I'd really like to grab on sale, but right now, even with better funds? Nah. Definitely want to give it a shot just for being what may be a gem in the rough.

I dont know, it's one of those games that I want so much to be good but when I watch gameplay it just doesn't look great. But still I want to convince myself that my eyes are lying.

And of course playing a game is not the same as watching but the bullet sponge enemies really turned me off.

Jeff tweeted he was really liking the pc version.

That's actually a pleasant surprise

Not at all really. Hope it's still worth the time though.

I would buy it, but I don't want to upgrade to a Win10. For those who have played it how are the controls and the soundtrack?

Bah, was hoping to play this a bit tonight but that's no longer an option. Anyone else here playing the PC version? Really curious to hear how the game runs on a 7950

The things reviewers didn't like about this game are all things I'm cool with (minus technical things) so I'm pumped for this game!

Nice OP, OP. Although I loved the title "ReCore |OT| Hidden Joule"

I liked that one too. Also "ReCore |OT| Survival Starts at the Score"

I played it for about an hour or so, it seems pretty "meh" so far. Besides being pretty ugly and having framerate issues, the combat just isn't varied enough to keep me interested.

Fuck it, I just bought this. I gameshare with my bro so he can play on Xbone while I enjoy a PC version which hopefully has fewer technical issues.

Fuuuuck! I got a 6.1GB Update for the game. Anyone else? That's gonna take me at least 2 hours to download. :(

Edit: Nice OT btw. :D

I just played an hour of it, and I gotta say: The technical issues on XBox One are hard to ignore. The game's at a low resolution, loading times take about a minute between areas (some areas are just walk to a place and press a button), and I got a game breaking bug in the first ten minutes of the game. In fairness, my second time playing through that section was totally fine.

I DO like it though. It's got Metroid Prime's shooting, Megaman X's dashing, some light exploration, an interesting narrative, and a great soundtrack.

But the low resolution/framerate, bad lighting, and lots of mechanics focusing on tether beams give me a real Sonic Boom 2 vibe.

I loaded up the PC version as soon as the game unlocked 20 mins ago.

The first boss immediately glitched into a wall, so I was unable to kill him. As I alt + tabbed out to tweet about it, the game changed my active profile, forcing me to return to the main menu.

As I got to the main menu, the game crashed. Now I can't open the game at all, I just crash at the main menu every time.

I guess it really didn't want you to send that tweet.

beat the first boss and went back to joule's crawler.. then back out into the world. longest load time I've encountered thus far is 10 seconds (PC on ssd).

I'll let you know what the time is after I die the first time and reload.

Played for a bit and made it to the crawler. The controls are tight and so far I'm having fun with it. Playing on a 1070 with everything set at its highest settings and I think the game looks pretty good and it's smooth as butter. No technical issues to speak of yet and the loading is about 10-15 seconds.

Looking forward to playing a lot more this week.

Looks good and runs great so far on PC. Only issue is the shadow LOD is pretty tiny even at max settings, can be distracting seeing them constantly popping in.

Seems like a good port. Game has like frigging 5 options for camera motion blur if you're into that sort of thing.

Damn, and I just beat Deus Ex a few days ago and that was super rough on the X1.

I guess we'll see if I can hack it out. Should just build a new pc already.

Game thought I wanted to change my profile and made me exit back to the main screen for some reason when I canceled the action.

Other than that it run pretty damn good. Playing it at 5K maxed @ around 65~72 FPS. Reloaded back into the game in less than 10 seconds.

I don't think I've ever wanted to refund a game this quickly.

Adding on to what I said earlier, I tried the console version. For some reason my PC save never carried over, despite the Xbox saying it was syncing. So I played from the start again and after the first boss, I saved and quit the game to be immediately told my save had corrupted.

The PC version is still crashing on the main menu.

:/

Do you own a 5K display, or are you downsampling? I wouldn't mind buying it if I could downsample the traditional way, but Unity doesn't usually allow it without downsampling the desktop itself first.

Downsampling.

Tried downsampling at 4K and the framerate is around 80-105. The game looks great aesthetically and the gameplay doesn't feel to shabby so far. The load times are also pretty damn fast.

That sounds good, thanks! I think I'll go ahead and give it a try now that I know I'll be able to downsample it without having to mess with my desktop resolution. :)

I know its early but man I love how this game controls... I am so far very happy with my purchase. Looking forward to seeing how the play anywhere works with my PC tomorrow.

Just beat the first boss. Controls are tight and game looks great on my xb1s and 4k TV. Really liking this. Money well spent so far.
