I would give Syndicate a go, it is definitely my favourite since probably Brotherhood.

Yeah, I've been tempted for a while. Too much of a backlog to get through at the mo, but will probably grab it at some point next year

I've actually really enjoyed the China 'chronicles' game after picking it up with this months GwG

Why are we assuming it's Ancient Egypt?

If the game is called Assassin's Creed: Empire, my first assumption would be that it's set predominantly in British Egypt in the late 19th or early 20th centuries. Considering the chronology seems to keep moving forwards and they've already done one Victorian period British setting, it seems fairly logical to me.

Well, it could also mean Egypt under the Ottoman empire, or under the Roman empire. Lots of possibilities. Also, they didn't always move forward, Black Flag is set before AC3.

Could be, although empire + Egypt could obviously be even Roman Empire.
Finally something that's not European.

Like AC1, 3, 4, Rogue, Liberation, Chronicles 1 and 2 and, arguably, Revelations?

Animus Menu 2017

My favorite game

Yeah. Lots of unlockable weapons/armor that can be "hacked" instead with a micro-transaction currency. Some temporary boosts you can buy too.
Huh, I never noticed.

On the topic of Unity, am I the only one who thinks it's massively underrated? Technical issues aside it's probably my favourite in the series.

Can't really get excited for Egypt tbh. Wouldn't the city be like really flat and primitive? Doesn't seem too hot to climb in compared to the fantastic building we got to traverse on in earlier games.

When thinking of Egypt I envision Damascus, Jerusalem and Acre type of city designs. It worked pretty well for the 1st Assassin's Creed game, but that was also the 12th century.

Don't think we will have to worry about an Assassin's Creed game not having enough elevated playspace. It's like a huge part of the games.

Interesting! That's not the screenshot leak any of us were hoping for, but that Estore suggesting microtransactions better not be in line with Unity and the multiple currencies. Maybe just unlockable time saving maps.

I really do hope it takes some inspiration from AC Syndicate - they were on the right path! Really excited to see more leak, maybe a proper gameplay shot. Ancient Egypt sounds like a good place for an AC game.

Hmmm I don't really think that confirms anything at all.

I'll wait until I get a screenshot of a player model from labtop screen on a plane before I start to believe.

Yeah Unity and Syndicate are both great games. Unity struggles with a few more issues but I still love it.

Man, a year ago, I couldn't have been any less interested in AC. Pretty much everything after 2 felt so uninspired and samey to me (except Black Flag, for obvious reasons), and I was beyond burnt out. The mess that was Unity finally convinced me that it was time to give up on this series. This new AC is filling me with hope for the series once again, however. I love the setting, and the fact that this might not launch until 2018 tells me that Ubisoft is finally willing to give their flagship series the time it needs to properly evolve, hopefully into something better. What I want from this game, beyond a great setting and story, is to see the mechanics evolve. Free running is far too imprecise and combat is far too easy and simplistic. Additionally, side content is far too repetitive. I really hope that, with the extra dev time, this game will be able to create something that feels like the leap from AC 1 to 2.

Roman Empire. They were all in Egypt.

Flatter and more primitive than colonial America?
Wasn't a great setting tbh.
The frontier was the best part, paradoxically.

If they want to make Egypt work they kind of have to rework those systems I think, more focus on flat traversal, less on massive buildings scaling.

That's alright though, because AC 1 wasnt too far off, depending on the area of the map you were exploring.

Weirdly enough looking back at Unity now, I appreciate it a lot more than I did when I first played it. I was one of the lucky ones who had no problems with the game. Not a single crash or hardware problem and I pretty much maxed it out on my new 970.

The graphics and attention to detail really was remarkable in Unity. It's weird that that game fell of the radar like it did.

My rating is now:

1. AC 2, Brotherhood, Revelations
2. AC Black Flag
3. AC Unity
4. AC Syndicate
5. AC 3
6. AC Rogue
7. AC 1

Unity had great gameplay possibilities, but was laid back by bugs (some of which are still persisiting even after the 1.5 patch) and that weird as hell story direction. Honestly, how do you set up a good story like they did and manage to screw it?

Please no more hide in bushes auto stealth. Allow us to use cover to move around and add much better enemy ai.

Just use MGSV as the template.

They clearly are going to a new direction (hence the 2-years gap) so it won't be the same time period as the two previous games. They are going to use that time to make new assets and technologies. As for game design, a member of the editorial team said yesterday that they will go more non-linear and more "worlds to visit", a trend that is already is the two previous games (Unity and Syndicate).

I'm not surprised there is another leak. We already know they may be planning a trilogy around Ancient Egypt, Greece and Italy (Roman Empire).

???

It's in the game since 2014.

Unity was the biggest waste they had so far.
So many good ideas, completely drowned by horrid release state, greed, and some imbecile design choices.

My rating(of those I've played):

1. Brotherhood
2. AC 2
3. Syndicate
4. Revelations
5. Unity
6. AC 1
8. AC 3

Keeping in mind that Syndicate is the last one up there I'd consider to be actually on the positive side of the scale though.

We do? That'd be absolutely fantastic though, even if Roman Empire is a bit overplayed and we've been to Italy already, I'd still love that trifecta.

I hope it's fake just cause I don't want the animus shit to return. If they want to be less restricted in terms of story like those leaks claim then they should cut the animus/modern day setting out.

Otherwise, I love the idea of ancient Egypt and the extra dev time.

I really wonder what it'll be called. The series has some of the worst naming possible just thanks to the fact how saturated it was.

AC1
AC2
AC Brotherhood (3)
AC Revelations (4)
AC3 (5)
AC4 Black Flag (6)
AC Rogue (7/8)
AC Unity (7/8)
AC Syndicate (9)

I could honestly be forgetting one. The only reason I even remember Rogue is cause to me it's "the game you forget it exists" that is only remembered for that like Remember Me.

Hopefully they either name it AssCreed 5, or Assassin's Creed to show they mean business this time. Maybe even go the final fantasy route and name it the actual numbered sequel, Assassin's Creed 10

Yes, we took a year off. But that doesn't mean we're not giving you the same old schlock when we come back. $59.99, please.

Hopefully the modern day stuff is robust again, didn't like how they were stripping it down starting with 4.

Thissss, I mean yes I know alot of people don't like it, but I used to love it especially right after the end of Assassins Creed II

I used to actually look forward to the parts set in the present, it's been basically non-existent lately.
