A Florida man was sentenced to life in prison without parole Friday in the killing of an African-American teenager outside a Jacksonville convenience store.

Michael Dunn, 47, of Satellite Beach, was convicted of first-degree murder for shooting Jordan Davis, 17, over the loud rap music coming out of his SUV in November 2012.

"Mr. Dunn, your life is effectively over," Healey said, according to The Associated Press. "What is sad is that this case exemplifies that our society seems to have lost its way."

Prosecutors say Dunn, a white software engineer, fired 10 shots into the Dodge Durango carrying Davis, of Marietta, Ga., and three other teens. Three bullets struck Davis.

Evidence reveals that Dunn continued to fire at the vehicle as the driver attempted to escape with his life.

In the courtroom, Dunn said he drove to the convenience store that day to purchase a bottle of wine with his fiancée when he was offended by the loud hip hop.

"He looked at his girlfriend and said, 'I hate that thug music,'" prosecutor John Guy said.

Dunn claims he acted in self-defense and thought he saw Davis holding a gun while they argued over the volume of the stereo.

Glad this psycho is behind bars. For once, the system is in our favor.

Fuck this guy

Being a judge for stuff like this has to suck too. Guy had to straight up tell another human being that his life was fucking over

Fucking convenience store? I wouldn't agree with it, but I would at least understand it, if it was his neighbor or something and it has been going on for months on end.

Convenience store though? Just drive away, you are out of it in 10 seconds.

Another responsible gun owner!

I'm pretty sure it's harder for the judge to have to be in that situation because an innocent life was taken, not because he has to tell a disgusting, guilty person his normal life is over.

Good.

This was murder, plain and simple.

That's a pretty ambiguous comment.

Dude already had 60 years for shooting at the friends too

Back in February, Dunn was convicted of three counts of attempted murder for shooting at Davis' friends and sentenced to 60 years. The 60-year sentence and the life sentence are to run consecutively.

Good. What a monster, killing a kid over this.

When I hear annoyingly loud music in traffic or in a parking lot I roll my eyes and forget about it 30 seconds later when I drive away. What kind of person kills someone over something so trivial?

Isn't telling a murderer that his life is over the most satisfying part?

None of these things sound really appealing to me tbh but I get what you're both saying

Lock that dude in and throw away the key

Makes you wonder how that guy feels about the 2nd ammendment after all the dust had settled. Without a loaded fucking gun in his pants, this man would have been annoyed for a couple of minutes and after that, on his merry way, enjoying a bottle of wine with his fiancee. And much more importantly, the man in the car would still have been alive.

It's baffling, case after case after case where it's proven that tempers are way too fucking short for people to own firearms. Literally everything is better without them. It's never going to happen though, is it?

"I hate that thug music" he said, as he invoked peak thuggery and shot 10 rounds into a vehicle of four teenagers.

They should make his cell soundproof to the outside, but when you go inside it just plays the most garbage rap at him nonstop.

Everything about this infuriated me from Day 1.

I hope he enjoys his cell.

Edit; I guess the conviction happened 2 years back, was there an update?

Phone reception is more important to me than human rights
Some ppl make the absolute stupidest decisions in life.

His life is over...over loud rap music....another persons' life is over....over loud rap music.

I hate this world sometimes.

Hope it was worth it buddy.

I know what you meant, but two lives are over because of this.

Crazy world we live in.

I was just thinking about this case yesterday. GOOD. This kind of BS needed to be slammed down before 'fear' because the excuse everyone uses to justify every horrible action.

It is actually quite interesting to see how someone throws his life away over what most consider a minor daily annoyance. Shows how fragile human beeings can be.

Mr. software engineer was a dick and got what he deserved though.

How can you lose something you never had?

The fucked up thing is that's exactly what he did. Not a care in the world.

Prosecutors say Dunn was unperturbed after killing Davis. Afterward, he returned to his hotel room, made a drink, ordered pizza and walked his dog, they said.

Fucking damnit. Didn't realize the article was old.

I literally heard nothing from the case since 2012.
