The rankings range from B to an S.
And wtf people, stop being so defensive over a lower score. Every thread it's the same thing.
Thumper is the last thing a beetle imagines when it smacks into a windshield. Thumper is what its like to peer into the subconscious of the guitar-playing Doof Warrior from Mad Max: Fury Road. Thumper is a rhythm game stripped down to the rims a primal, uncomfortable nightmare by design. Though it shares a few DNA strands with other games out there, Thumper is its own unique beast a mean, unrelenting animal.
I remember this. Is it recommended if I liked Amplitude?
I RECOMMEND IT IF YOU HAVE A PULSE
I keep seeing the word 'violent' come up in reviews and descriptions of the game. I feel like that's one of those "you had to be there to understand kind of deals."
Mine just finished downloading but I still think I might hold off for VR on Thursday. Or maybe I won't. Shit.
Thumper is all those thingsFull Definition of violent
1: by extreme force or sudden intense activity
2a : notably furious...
2b : extreme, intense
3a : emotionally agitated to the point of loss of self-control
Kinda disappointed that whilst it's coming to Steam, it won't support Vive/Oculus for now. VR mode seems exclusive to PSVR. Excited to try this out nonetheless.
Thumper is all those things
Because that's how reviews work...Sony forgot to bribe Gameinformer it seems.
Or is GameStop too salty that this game is amazing and for digital purchase only?
If I can make it to Stage 4, so can you. It's possibleI had to put the controller down at 2-15. Holy shit, I feel like I've been abused and I need to speak to someone. I think I'm going to have to come to terms with the fact that I'll never be able to beat this game.
I'm also a but worried that I may die playing this game in VR. It might be perfect for VR and too much all at the same time. The way they handle your beetle taking damage visually is punishing.

This game sounds amazing! I love Amplitude and Rockband Blitz and it seems to be similar. I was toggling between buying Thumper or Rez at PSVR launch (I will likely own both once Pro releases).
For those that have played both, which would you choose and why (Thumper or Rez)? They are both $20 too which makes it easy.
Thanks in advance!

Sooooo going to double dip on this one
Good lord, Game Informer.
Don't understand why they let people review the game who
a)Has no interest in the game.
b)Can't give the game a fair and unbiased review
A good game is a good game
I personally hate Minecraft but that doesn't mean it isn't a quality game.
But it's not a real game, just a VR tech demo or 10 minute 'experience' /s

So how does the game actually work?
I have read that it's simply one analogue stick and one button so I assume you move tracks with the stick and press the button for the prompts but I thought when watching a video that it has square prompts and line prompts so wasn't sure of there was a difference etc.
Bit hard to tell with the visual assault taking place but I am really interested in picking it up for my psvr
THUMPER is magnificent, and THUMPER is evil. It is a snarling inversion of the dancing-around-the-candles, toe-tapping euphoria that is the lifeblood of those music racing games it seems to ape. Make no mistake, it becomes euphoria, but that euphoria is earned, not given. It is the euphoria of survival and of dancing in solitary anger, not happy fellowship.
THUMPER, with its minimum of menus and explanation and guidance is absolutely pure, to the point that those who do not enjoy its light-from-darkness aesthetic will think it too small, to samey, too one-note, too much about the same sound playing forever. Perhaps it really can offer nothing to those people, or perhaps accepting that is it very fucking sincerely intended to be the same state of mind held for an eternity will let it seep into their veins after all. For the rest of us, let it take its place alongside Devil Daggers, reigning in hell.
People have said all VR has is tech demos and short experiences and that there are no real games. I think he was using this as example against that.I dont think anyone has said this is a VR tech demo
awww, poor gameinformer. game was too hard for them, bless their little soul. lol
Guys, I was oblivious on this until yesterday. I keep seeing keywords of terrifying/horrifying etc. I have seen some videos and I just don't get it? Space beetle rhythm game? What am I missing because I'm intrigued.
